I rather liked the ending they had on ROYOW.
I can understand how some people prefer knowing exactly how things end, but I think in some cases the best ending is an ambiguous one. That was certainly the case with ROYOW. <THERE MIGHT BE SPOILERS> The ambiguity really highlighted the whole moral of the story, that moral being that the ultimate destination is not nearly as important as the journey itself. The way I saw it , Boksu's tumor was a plot device that was not so much intended to foreshadow a tragic ending but more of one to signify a new beginning. It's because he found out he might die, or at best lobotomized, that Boksu is able to put his life in a new perspective. Whether he dies or lives lobotomized is immaterial to Boksu; either way, he knows he only has only a limited time remaining to live as a fully conscious man. The drama is about his quest to make the most out of his remaining time AKA being the ruler of his own world. In doing so, this drama is told primarily through Boksu's eyes. The ending was a perfect way to end things the way it was perceived through Boksu. What would occur after the surgery is not nearly as important or worrisome to boksu as what occurs during the period of time prior to the surgery. The ending's ambiguity really drove that point home. By not focusing too much on the ultimate outcome, the veiwer is allowed to appreciate the true beauty of Boksu's life during tha time span of the drama. Maybe I overanalyze., but I think the people who made this drama were intending that efect.

i've watched sort of a lot of dramas, only korean ones so far. i am planning to spread my wings and venture into other dramas from other countries. anyhow my fave five are:
(tied for first place)
1. a tale of autumn/endless love
my love patzzi
3. four sisters
4. all about eve
5. winter sonata
for me, winter sonata was close to one of those dramas that had an ending that wasn't very satisfactory so watching the whole drama almost seemed a waste. after watching it a couple of times, i have finally made my peace with the ending.

Honestly to me any Asian drama is great they all have beautiful actresses in them.
I really like all the asian dramas not to be exagerating but when i saw my first Asian drama i thought i wasn't going to like it but when i noticed how beautiful Choi Ji Woo is. I couldn't stop watching it. That was my first asian drama, after that drama i watched Autumn Tale after that i was the biggest fan of asian dramas even though i've seen around 10 or 11 dramas i cant stop searching for them. I've only been a fan for a year and i will continue to be for as long as i can. Honestly My greatest wish do you know what it is, and i know that im not the only who wishes this but my wish is to have an asian wife because i think that they will really take care of you. Well sorry i got carried away, well here is my top five even though i havent seen that much
1.Winter Sonata
2.Autumn Tale
3.Summer Scent
4. All In
5.Pride
I just hope that outhere somewhere i could find a real nice asian girl that will take care of me. Well see you everybody and thanks to all of you people helping to seed all the great dramas and all the people translating them. Haha, i couldn't help laughing when i read this. Sorry to put a damper on your spirits (in case you were not joking). I think most Korean/Japanese series depict ancient Korean/Japanese culture. I would imagine that script writers and directors exaggerate in order to make a series dramatic and hence increase viewership. So don't fret, you're probably not missing out on much
I'm Chinese so perhaps i could be wrong. Any Koreans or Japanese to help? Or anyone who has lived in Japan or Korea?
But anywy i love the same series you mentioned. They're really great huh...
