It was a common Asian thing for the time; it was given in China, too. Anyone who could get one would be better off for it, since getting the disease is a lot worse than ending up with a scar.

i got one on my right and one on my left...used to hate it ... even though it's not very visible...
i guess females are more vain abt these things..hehe
anyway, i've heard these days, one can get those without leaving a scar....so lucky... the younger generations...hehe
