try:
echinanea with goldseal
vitiman C with natural rose hips

Works great for colds although won't cure anything overnight of course. You can find over the counter at just about any drug store. Take care and get some rest.

Smile

Nyquil and Dayquil so you're covered both day and night. Syrup works better than the caplets!

Also, lots of chamomile tea and sleep.

Well, you probably already have a cold....

When I feel like I'm coming down with something (feeling in the throat or my nasal passage feeling a bit flaired up), I start taking Zinc. About 120mg (or two 60mg tablets in my case) twice a day - once when I wake up and once in the afternoon, usually after lunch. I stop when the symptoms go away.

But if you do have a cold... My grandfather would boil water with ginger, and then add sugar to make it sweeter. Boil enough to fill a mug. Take out the ginger. Once you drink it, it'll make you sweat a LOT! It helps you get over the cold a lot quicker.

Most important is sleep, drink lots of water.
If all else fails go see a doctor.

Plenty of rest... water and sleep for the most part of it. Then you can take in honey to help fight off anything else, whilst your body is busy fighting off the common cold virus. Best thing would probably be not to take any medicine as such, unless it gets very bad, as your immune system needs to strengthen in some way or another ;).

I have a low immune system, so nothing ever works for me. When I'm really decongested, nothing works. (And yes, I've tried that Mucinex stuff.) So I just drink lots of fluids, get plenty of rest, and overdose on Vitamin C.

a lot of people also recommend 'airborne', which was surprisingly not mentioned here.

you may think i'm joking, but when i have a cold, another thing that does wonders for me is EATING. not kidding. i eat a lot as it is, but it helps give you energy to fight the cold.

i hardly ever get sick nowadays (sick a lot as a kid), but when i DO get sick, geez, it feels like i'm dying. pale

Well for cold/bad throat...and it's a home remedy..no pills/pink liquids involved. All u need is to is smash/cut some ginger.Add salt to it and mix both in warm water and drink it.Does a good job..Though it takes bad, it does work for me

sidenote: kinda similar to what groink's post said, but a bit diff

My mom is a teacher and she uses that stuff right when she thinks she's starting to get sick, and she's magically cured. I take it, and I still get sick. It's so frustrating. Glare

So, I think Airborne may work for some people, but definitely not for everyone.

I don't know the last time I got a common cold b/c I usually get allergy flare-ups + sinus or respiratory infections, but I usually sedate myself as much as possible (Nyquil or Actifed). Sometimes I feel a little refreshed soaking in the bathtub w/ aromatherapy stuff, then going back to bed. Yeah, and fluids when I'm awake. Orange juice and apple juice usually. Don't forget the nasty ass Robitussin for when you're clogged (blegh).
