| I appreciate the efforts and all, but can't someone just release softsubs? It's a pain in the ass having to download the whole episode all over again just for hardsubs.

| I've been reading some complaints here from people about the fact that someone will be releasing it on hardsubs instead of softsubs, well someone has already mentioned that soft subs will be released - read the thread...

I'm aware that people have been talking about another person doing softsubs. I was just worried that perhaps that person had decided to quit doing those softsubs because hardsubs were being offered, since softsubs usually don't take very long to be released, and they haven't yet. However, I'll continue to wait and hope that we'll all get those beautiful softsubs.
Dear chado87,
Hardsubs are when the subtitler melds the subtitles onto the video, so if you already have the raw version, you must download the video again.
Softsubs are when the subtitles are in a very small subtitle file format where you download just the subtitle file (usually a few KB), put the subtitle file in the same folder as the original raw video file, with both of them sharing the same file name (just different file extensions), and the subtitles will show up when you open the raw video.

1) what makes you assume that the person doing the soft subs quit? where does it say that?

to me, it sounds like that no, you never actually read it in the first place because your asking if someone will release them
2) if someone is going to sub something, the person who is going to get it for free is really is in no position to ask for how it arrives - soft or hard. remember - they do this for free and for your benefit - so really, whether or not it is a 'pain in the ass' for you shouldnt matter - but yes - i do agree with you there, its just that i personally feel rude dictating my terms over someone who is doing you a favour
3) soft subs maybe quicker than hard subs - but it doesnt mean that it happens automatically. this was released less than a week ago and you expect subs to be done already? im guessing you recently just got into watching doramas? cos lately, a lot of people seem to have the impression that subs are automatically made
4) and finally, if you read the rules of the forum, you would know that you NEVER ask for subs - soft or hard

1) There's no need to put things in point form, I'm not an idiot.
2) I see that you are a major kiss-ass. Try not to get any poopy marks on your lips.
3) To me, it looks like you're butting in in order to make yourself look better on this forum. I'm completely aware that I'm in no place to order people around, all I did was voice an opinion. Thanks for the advice though, it's much appreciated.
4) I'm not expecting softsubs to magically appear out of nowhere, but they usually are released within a week, sometimes even within a day. By this time, hardsubs have a pretty good chance of being released as well. So, if you look at it logically, since we haven't heard anything from the person that is supposedly going to be doing the softsubs, it makes sense to question whether or not they will actually be released. It's quite common for a subber to drop a project if another subber has decided to do it. Please don't try to act like you already know who I am. I have every right to want softsubs over hardsubs, because they ARE a pain in the ass.
5) Finally, you will notice that I never asked for subtitles. When I first posted, it had already been well established that they would be released. You've just gone and made this into a whole big ordeal over nothing. I hope you feel better about yourself! Maybe you'll be an admin one day! Keep trying!

and despite being a member of d-addicts for a few years now, youll find that ive barely ever posted anything here - so no, i dont feel the need to make myself look better cos if i did, id be a hell of a lot more active than i am as it is

no - soft subs do not 'usually' appear within a week or within a day - its only lately that some series have had soft subs being done straight away from very keen subbers - but this is not the norm. dont believe me? check the 'subtitles' thread and see how many projects are still going and how long ago the series was released.
secondly, if someone says that theyll be subbing something, usually, youll get a post from that person/group letting you know if they are going to drop a project. considering the fact that they only mentioned that they will pick it up less than a week ago - its rather silly to start getting antsy and assume they have dropped it because they havent done it asap

i have no intention of being an admin - again, note the amount of activity ive had in these forums.
secondly - didnt you ask if they could be released as soft subs? hence, if you read my post, i mentioned that its not protocol to ask for it as either soft or hard
ps - i forgot to add - the soft subs have just been released so there you go. a little patience goes a long way
