Seeking help from Viet subbers :)

Hi Viet Subbers...

First I need to apologize if this doesn't belong in this forum section. I'm thinking of translating/subbing from an existing english subtitle file to a vietnamese one and I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a guideline for me to get started for it or what softwares I need? I tried Divxland media subtitler but anytime I edit the existing english caption to vietnamese, it doesn't recognize viet accent signs. Please help. Smile

The reason that you can't save accents in Media Subtitler is because it does not support UTF-8 encoding for text, which you need to save text in languages other than English.

I strongly suggest Aegisub (http://www.malakith.net/aegiwiki/Main_Page) for this kind of translation project (assuming that you already have the softsubs). You can open the subtitle and then go to Tools > Translations Assistant. This will allow have a textbox for the existing line and then a blank textbox for your translations. Then you can just go down line-by-line without much hassle at all.
