The reason that you can't save accents in Media Subtitler is because it does not support UTF-8 encoding for text, which you need to save text in languages other than English.
I strongly suggest Aegisub (http://www.malakith.net/aegiwiki/Main_Page) for this kind of translation project (assuming that you already have the softsubs). You can open the subtitle and then go to Tools > Translations Assistant. This will allow have a textbox for the existing line and then a blank textbox for your translations. Then you can just go down line-by-line without much hassle at all.
