Can't they make a new, original 'historical' series instead of recycling everything? There is way too much regurgitating going on. They need to take heed of the Koreans and their recent 'historical' series.

Oh my gosh, you say exactly how I feel! Recently, they've just been remaking every single popular Jin Yong series, instead of trying new ground. How many versions of Heaven Sword Dragon Sabre, Legend of the Condor Heroes, Return of the Condor Heroes, and Duke of Mt. Deer have there been?! Why haven't I seen a new version of Ode to Gallantry (Xia Ke Xing) yet? And when they did Bi Xue Jian, they got much better publicity because they did one that hadn't been done 1 billion times. *Sigh* I feel like they're just trying to cash in to Jin Yong's famous series by remaking the popular ones everyone would watch anyways, even if it they didn't do as good a job.

Yes, it'd be great if they could find NEW things to make series about. China has such a rich history, there must be plenty of interesting people or areas out there.

Exactly...I don't know why all these people are complaining they keep remaking stuff...Chinese series are aplenty...maybe go to a video store once in a while. I see tons of them around, and the complaint should be "I don't have enough time to watch all of them."

And I like the remakes...apparently other people do too...that's why they keep remaking it, theres profit to be made.

Anybody else laugh their ass off when Xiao Bao first met the princess?...lolz, shes hilarious. I like Shu Chang's acting in DOMD, she did the loony side of Jian Ning really good. I'm still a diehard Ruby Lin fan though, Ruby as the princess is the best it can get.

I agree abt Shu Chang as Jian Ning, she's so funny! I heard the princess in the book is the least likable wife, I can see that in Tony Leung's DOMD84, I didn't like the princess there, either.

But I find ShuChang's portrayal is quite likable thumright I'm not sure whether its the right portrayal or not, though, since I never read the book.

Watching to Ep25. It's more exciting and funny than I thought, although nothing really blow me away, like Bi Xue Jian did^^ ...yet.

What? Korean dramas all have the same plotline, just different actors and settings. I haven't seen one that diverts from the general plotline yet.
There are a lot of good new ones, like the Emperor series and Han Wu Da Di. There's also "Da Zhai Men," "Da Ran Fang," etc. They're just a bit more series and not as popular among the younger crowd.
