Hey all,
I'm looking to join a fan-sub group that focuses mainly on Japanese dramas. I've been watching Japanese anime/dramas for years now and I've decided it's time to give back to the community. I'm a pretty versatile person and I've got some free time on the weekends to help out. I've never worked with a fan-sub group before but I've done my own encoding and manipulation so I'm familiar with the tools (mainly gordian knot), the codecs (divx xvid, x264, h264, etc) and the containers (avt, mkv, etc.). I've also got a little bit of skill in Japanese. Currently I'm in a second level course so I suppose you could rate my ability as intermediate. However, I'm in this for the long haul and I'll be relocated to Japan for a year next summer and I'm still studying, so my skill should be increasing rapidly. On top of this, my English is excellent and I'm particularly good at picking up on the translation mistakes I've seen on a lot of fan-subed media. This is mostly what I am interested in; checking the English translation for accuracy. However, if you need me to time, QC, package, or do anything else I'm sure I can help. I'm located in CST (gmt -6) and I've got a 15mb/2mb connection. I've got a 2tb storage server that I can host files with, however, I doubt my upload bandwidth has the capacity for more than a person or two. I've got a lot of skill with being a webmaster and am skilled in more than a few programming languages, so if you need a website with a bunch of features and whatnot, I can help with that too.
Anyways, if you are interested, drop me a PM on this forum or email me at: thejourneyed at gmail dot com.
Also: As I said before, I'm really only interested in Japanese anime/drama, but if you need English spot checking I can do that for anything.
