As nonsensical and stupid it is most of the time, there's a brilliance in it as well though I can't really point a finger at any part...There's a great message to it too though I haven't exactly figure it out...yet...heheh. In short, yeah, I like it. Don't hold it against me yeah? Juri also agreed during the film's premiere that though it's a 'kudaranai eiga', it's still got its own charm to it and is meant to make people laugh and forget about their worries for awhile. But I agree that not everyone would find it funny. Probably only those that understand Japanese humor. ^^; |
Juri-chan is symbolized by the turtle. The meaning of the film is quite clearly stated by the title of the movie. The individual details and events make the movie seem like a simple comedy and movie-about-nothing, but it's actually quite meaningful. Watching it again (or just thinking about the title) with that in mind should reveal the simple, yet sincere message the movie tries to convey. It might be a banal theme for some, but it's something most people have forgotten.
Miki Satoshi is known for his rather obtuse or seemingly meandering plots, yet compact in his delivery of a message. Ten ten (Adrift in Tokyo) and In The Pool are also good movies.

Yup~ Certainly was one of the highlights in recent months. I'm watching a recent interview with her and it's certainly nice to see them referring to Juri is No.1 most 'shining' young actress today~ I think till Naoko she was still referred to as up and coming -_-;;...So, yatta ne, Juri-chan~
Anyway, something about DIRECTOR Ueno Juri instead~
