[Req] Need Chinese to English translator for JTTW 96

Ok I'm new to fan subbing and I really want to get this show sub because i love the Monkey King and Dicky is the best Monkey King.
This is the first Journey to the West made in 1996 I've never seen English subs for it,but i don't know Chinese so I need help.
But I can do the hard subbing if someone will step up and help me, I know its alot to ask but someone must want to sub this.

And I'm willing to work around the translator's time frame and I don't care if you do Cantonese or Mandarin to English as long as the end is English subs I want to hard sub the Cantonese version but I'll do Mandarin if the translator wants.lol
I subbed a test video of JTTW3 22 about 2 minutes I just read what Jem's subs said on the Mandarin version and remade the subs then hard subbed it to the Cantonese version then converted it to rm heres the link

So I hope I can find someone to help me with this I'm out of work so I got alot of time to do this if I get help.
And even if I can't get someone to help me with this one day I will get it done if I have to pay a pro when I get back to work one day but might be awhile.lol
But hoping I don't have to wait for a year to get where I need to be before i can blow money on this. Unsure

Anyway I hope someone will step up and lend a hand thank you for your time to read this and I hope this topic don't get locked or something.
I see others asking for help and there topics aren't locked but I seen another JTTW topic that got lock but maybe its because she said she changed her mind about subbing it?

well he sub Journey to the West 3 Quest for the Sutra made in 2004 the Mandarin dub version.JTV sub the Cantonese version 1 to 21 and stopped Glare

so you have to see 22 to 35 in Mandarin dub with Gems English subs.

but Journey to the West 1996 version has never had English subs this is a better version because they kept closer to the story where part 3 changed alot and ppl really hated it (even tho it was a good show and made with alot of money worth seeing)for that reason.but Journey to the West 1996 had 30 ep well they was a version with 20 but longer.lol and this is a show alot of ppl love i just wish us English only ppl could have the same great show as Chinese ppl do(there so lucky getting all them JTTW shows)

If you'd like, what I can do is have a go at a short clip of one episode, and see how that goes? (it would save me downloading the whole file I suppose) The dialogue might not flow as well, but you're free to correct it etc.

I speak mandarin, but the dramas I've seen (which are in mandarin) almost always have subtitles, so I could always fallback on the chinese subtitles if necessary?

well i made this the other day it the opening song to JTTW1 if it helps.

but i have the ep and they have both cantonese and Mandarin so won't be a problem i can cut a clip how ever many mins you want to start with.
then convert it to rm so it'll be small if you want or you can download a whole ep.
plus youtube has the show so you could just see it on there website Big Smile

read the coment you'll see a bunch of ppl asking for a English version too Cool

I wholeheartedly support you on this project. JTTW 96 was my first bit of television, and remains my favorite series of all time. It'd be wonderful of these were English - subbed.

I watched part of one episode. I noticed that someone had uploaded the Vietnamese (or Cambodian?) version of JTTW'96 where each episode is split into 6 parts, so perhaps we could work using that sort of timeline? I hope this is alright ;)

@mgf: would you mind pm'ing me a larger version of the image please? I can read it but it would be comfortable if I had a larger version to work from.

@Linkadink and mgf: I can't promise to do a very good translation, mainly because I tend to take the original words too literally (and it takes several revisions before it sounds 'natural'). So it would be great (for the 'flow' of the subtitling) if people could proof-read it before it is subbed onto the episodes. And since I don't know the proper terminology sometimes (where other subbers have used more appropriate names) corrections are really welcome!

*blush* Thank you everyone. I have actually typed out all the chinese subtitles from that first file mgfcortez sent me, where most of the translation is the opening song. And I have to say, it sounds fine in chinese but when I try and say it in English it really doesn't seem to flow/make much sense, strange ne? Tongue

IS this something that happens alot with the more modern translations?

I'm refencing wikipedia and other articles for the correct names of all the buddhas etc. so hope that will help a little. Just wondering if I should watch some of the subs of the other versions of JTTW to make it all sound better at any rate.

OH yes, whilst on Wikipedia, I read that JTTW96 version had actually been dubbed into English???

i bet there talking about monkey magic that was put out in the 60's i think it was the best English dub i've ever seen wish more shows were dubbed so good.
but who know maybe tvb has the one with dicky in English dub and won't put it out there Cussing

they are funny like that well anyway if you can't get it,its just like it isn't real.lol
and i say just make it sound right as for the English.lol
you know what its saying in Chinese so use your own words i guess, that's what i would do Tongue

who saids it needs to be word for word this is more for English only ppl then ppl who know Chinese themself IMO.
