The ones brewed in Japan are the best tasting. Unfortunately locally (outside Japan) brewed beer is not the same taste nor quality.
Kirin Ichiban I believe is still brewed in Japan. That was nice.
The most memorable beer was a Suntory I had in a Shinjuku Izakaya. That was exceptional.

This is so true. If anybody is lucky enough to visit Tokyo I can recommend Bakusyu Club Popeye near the Ryogoku JR station. It has about 30-40 Japanese beers on tap of every imagable type, the Yona Yona beers where espically good. The two times I went there I was made to feel very welcome despite speaking no Japanese.
I also visited the Yebisu Beer Museum in Ebisu, it isn't very big, but the Magical Theatre Show involving the King of Beer and the Beer Fairy has to be seen to be believed.
