bakaman - Thanks for the kind words. I'm lucky to have a Japanese native-speaker partner (my better half). I studied enough back in college to get about 60% of the content. She fills in the rest and helps to clarify the nuances and cultural points. For us, the writing is so funny and thought-provoking that we want to make sure it conveys right. Motivation is always tough but it helps when you truly enjoy the series.
We subbed 'Remote' a few years back. Goofy police drama. Not particularly deep, but lots of big names, so a lot more viewers than Suika. (Tastes vary, but it wasn't one of my favorites.) Real life is getting busier these days so we probably won't do another series for a while. We may try a special since they're shorter. I'm still trying to figure out how the Odoru Daisousasen specials never got subbed!
If you're enjoying Suika I'd recommend 'Sexy Voice and Robo' and 'Nobuta wo Produce', also by Kizara Izumi. 'Kamome Shokudo' and 'Megane' are two really good films by Ogigami Naoko with many of the same actors. Very quirky, subtle, and funny.

Thanks a lot for ep09, OfficeMasao. This one is one of my favourites so far (although there's only one left). The plot was quite deep and I found the Jupiter theory definitely hilarious.

Subs for ep10 are up.
Thanks to everyone that kept up with this series! Special thanks to ap for the raws and everyone that seeded!
Notes and thoughts:
Hidden:
--Motoko says she'd "like to go to a southern island and live calmly, eating shaved ice." That's exactly what her character in 'Megane' does. (The actors that play Yuka-chan and Dorobune's Mama also appear in the film.)
--A little late, but did anyone notice that Motoko's mother's friend in the hospital (ep9) also appears briefly in episode 1?
--Any thoughts on what happens to Baba-chan at the end? There's the obvious conclusion, but then I figured she was caught at the end of episode 9...

This drama has been on my *Want to Watch* list for a long time but no chance without subs. So thank you so much for picking up this older drama to sub and congratulations on finishing this project. You are wonderful!
Look forward to watching it all in one go on the weekend!

Thank you a lot for the wild ride, OfficeMasao.
I've really enjoyed Suika thanks to you, and honestly it came quite as the gust of fresh air in a year filled with dramas that I (as far as I am concerned) find quite uninteresting.
I won't forget your name now, and I sure will follow any SP or drama that you'll translate in the future.

OfficeMasao,
many thanks to you and your "better half" for taking the time to create these outstanding subtitles.
I have enjoyed every minute of the drama so far and am looking forward to watching the final episode in a few minutes.

I just watched the last episode and I really enjoyed this series
Thanks very much for translating this!

I guess what happened to Baba-chan is open to every-ones interpretation.
The white light she is walking towards at the end suggests to me that she is seeing the end of the tunnel and has a goal again

Interesting. It'd be fun to start a discussion thread on this series. Wonder if there's enough interest?
We had a very different interpretation...
Hidden:
To us it implied she was committing suicide. It seemed like she was running in front of a truck or a train. The silence at the end of that scene is very eerie. I found it a little hard to accept, especially since she seemed so upbeat towards the end. It didn't make sense to me, but maybe I just wanted things to work out for her? My translation partner thought suicide was the most likely conclusion.

OfficeMasao, thanks for the recommendations. I've actually seen SexyVoice & Nobuta, they were good. Also, I did see Remote... not the greatest (harmless fluff) but it was fun. Thanks for the recommend on those movies.. I haven't seen them, but will try to check them out.
As I said before, I haven't finished Suika yet (I'm about 1/2 way through... slowly rationing it and enjoying it through the summer) so I've been trying to be careful to avoid reading messages here that might contain spoilers... but since Suika has finished let me say thanks again for your hard work and great results -- as well as for letting us know about such a quirky little show. Thanks again! And if you should decide to sub another show again in the future, we'll be welcoming it!

bakaman -- You may want to avoid the Suika wiki page. The episode titles listed there actually contain a few spoilers. Not a huge deal, but I kind of wish I hadn't read them in advance!
