We're not asking "How to stop DC." We're TELLING them, "Get our sh*t off the streaming sites."
If one is thinking along the lines of fansubbers streaming themselves, we visited that idea with 1ceCream several pages ago. Stupid idea on several levels:
1. It falls in the hands of the philosophy we're against - making fansubs more mainstream. We don't want mainstream. Malcolm X would probably say, "We didn't land on Google. Google landed on US!"
2. DC and MySoju will link to our uploads. Doesn't solve the problem - they continue to make money off the linking via advertising on their portals.
3. We would be relying on publicly owned companies to host videos that is actually deemed illegal. Japanese dramas are being deleted off these sites daily. Not a smart thing to do. I don't trust DailyMotion, MSN, MySpace, or any other streaming service as far as I can throw them.
4. Can't host the files on our own private servers. Just hosting one 350MB file x 1000 downloads can be costly - probably in the hundreds of dollars. One month can run a bill in the millions of dollars every month, like what happened to Crunchyroll early on.
The ONLY way one can stop DC and MySoju is to make what keeps them alive unavailable. Personally, I'm in favor of actually leaving D-Addicts and move to a private tracker. This is currently working, as I've yet to see many of the torrents on the private trackers I belong to streamed on either DC or MySoju. And, I'm thinking about actually uploading a series or two on the private tracker. I hope other fansubbers give some serious thought into heading in this direction - either on their own private trackers, or join one of the existing ones. If we need to fall back to secret handshakes and yelling out passwords at the front door, then so be it.
But as one can see, I would like for D-Addicts to stay as-is. No change! Just obey the wishes of the fansubbers. Fansubbers tell you not to upload their stuff to the streaming sites - you obey. Doesn't matter if you don't personally know the fansubbers. That's really the problem with people on the Internet - it's easy to backstab people you don't know. That's why we cannot stop DC, which is why, once again, the question is NOT "how to stop them".
