[Req] [Jiang Hu] Fansub recruitment

Group description:
Jiang Hu is a fansub that specializes in wuxia and period dramas. Our mission is to provide people with good English subtitles for these dramas and to make wuxia genre more popular. We noticed a general lack of English subtitles in this genre. We also feel that this genre is disproportionately underrepresented in general drama forums. We hope that with our efforts, we can make this genre better known in public.

Jiang Hu is seeking multiple enthusiastic, talented, and dedicated volunteers for the following positions:
1. Translators
2. Timers (Currently up to two positions are available)
3. Encoders

Specific job descriptions and requirements:
Translators:
1. To translate wuxia dramas from (mostly for now) Mandarin Chinese to English
2. Must be proficient in Mandarin
3. Proficient in English to a good extent
4. Some knowledge in Chinese history, literature, and mythology needed for the drama.
5. Able to use Notepad or similar text editor.

Timer:
1. To time the translated dialog into the movie.
2. Experience with timing on the sound wave is a must.
2. No experience is necessary, but must be willing to learn (especially VisualSubSync or Aegisub) and pay great attention to details.
3. Experienced applicants are preferred.

Encoder:
1. To encode the finished subtitle into the movie.
2. Experience in encoding is required.
3. Links of sample encodes should be sent along with the applications.

Applicants will be assigned to one of our future projects. See our wiki page for the drama list.

General instructions on applying:
1. E-mail us at jianghufs@gmail.com with the positions and the drama titles of interest.
2. Indicate any previous experience, if any. Encoders must also send links of sample encodes.
3. Indicate instant messaging contact information (MSN or G-talk).
4. Indicate any affiliations to other fansub groups.

Applicants will be assigned to temporary positions until the completion of several subbing tasks. Once consensus among the staffs is reached, the applicants will be admitted into staff positions with full rights.

1. Advance preview of subtitles of upcoming episodes.
2. Get to work with enthusiastic team.
3. Direct downloads on some episodes.

Sorry, a slight query, what is qualified as an exceptional candidate for editor? A degree in English?

We are currently in need of translators AND timers for subtitling Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2010 or State of Divinity 1996.

Translator's duties:
- To translate wuxia dramas from (mostly for now) Mandarin Chinese to English
- Must be proficient in Mandarin
- Proficient in English to a good extent
- Some knowledge in Chinese history, literature, and mythology needed for the drama (or at least know how to find relevant information over the web)
- Able to use Notepad or similar text editor

Timer's duties:
- Ascribe sentences into appropriate time periods.
- Able to use VisualSubSync or Aegisub
- Must time according to the sound wave.
