Problems with WINRAR & Chinese Password

When you tried extracting it, did you check mark the box to show the password? It should either show up as ??? or the asian/chinese/etc characters. Also, if you could provide a sample of the text for me that would be nice.

I have suspicioun it has to do we either or; bad password, or Windows ME. Nevertheless, if it is showing ???? characters in the password field, one or more of the asian/chinese/etc packs didn't install or didn't install correctly.

i don't really know exactly caused i tried out a series of settings but i think if your comp is able to show chinese characters then i don't think you need to bother about adjusting something else again. When you click "Extract here" and the "Enter password" windows pop up, at the text box right click and select "Show Unicode Control" then copy/paste.

if that cannot work then i suppose try installing chinese (PRC), chinese (Singapore), chinese (HK SAR) keyboards caused those were the things i tried out.

I know it's been a while since you posted tihs but I still want to show my appreciation. I had the same problem with those Chinese character passwords. Thanks drankalot for sharing the 7-zip. I tried the exe file and it worked for me!!! yay!!! ^_^ cheers

thanks heaps for 7-zip, you dont know how many albums and MVs ive missed out on because of those stupid chinese passwords not working in winrar, youre a lifesaver drankalot !

If you are running Windows ME, you'll probably have to upgrade to 2000, XP or Vista to get it to work. If you have one of those three, in Language and Regional Settings, try setting the language for non-unicode programs to Chinese.
