Can anyone recommend me some good dramas where romance is not a central theme? I am SICK to death of boy meets girl crap.

Only one series comes to mind: Mixed-Up Investigative Agency (also known as Evasive Inquiry Agency). Probably the only Korean drama that doesn't revolve around the romance theme, and it's fantastic!

- change (jdrama)

magicmusic, im the total opposite... i looook for romance in every drama i watch and get bored if i dont find any. I t just makes me feel happy after watching, plus, my husband benefits from it too, i feel so in love afterwards so im so much nicer to him. haha..

These are all the dramas I've watched so far and my personal ratings (out of 10) for them:

J-dramas:

A Million Stars Falling From the Sky --- 8.5
- It's angsty, addictive and KimuTaku is great as always

Beautiful Life --- 8.5
- A real tearjerker and does well portraying the life of disabled people

Hana Yori Dango --- 8.0
- The only fluff worth watching imo. I fell in love with MatsuJun after watching this

Hana Yori Dango --- 7.0
- Nowhere near as good as the first. I just watched it in case anything major happened (which didn't)

Kimi wa Petto --- 8.5
- Maybe it's cause I love the manga so I loved this too. In any case, it was different and refreshing to see an older female lead, and the relationship between Sumire and Momo is interesting and well explored

Long Vacation --- 9.0
- I admit this is not everyone's cup of tea. It's very nineties indeed, and the female lead seems to grate on some people. However, I love it because I think it captures the relationship between the leads so very well. My personal fave

Summer Snow --- 8.0
- Another tearjerker which I watched a long time ago (I remember not crying lol). It was pretty good but I thought it lacked real substance

Orange Days --- 8.5
- A drama that really rang true for me. I felt it portrayed college life very accurately, and the relationships were interesting and the storyline not too contrived. What I would have liked is more focus on Shohei and Akane, but hey we can't have it all ^^

J-dramas I have not yet finished watching:

Hana-Kimi --- 6.0
- Very meh. I found it too boring, silly and contrived to continue watching, even with Shun in it =(

Koukou Kyoushi --- 7.5
- Looks promising indeed. Will continue watching

A Litre of Tears --- 7.0
- Looks like another tearjerker. I think I'll leave this till when I'm in the mood to be thoroughly depressed

Nobuta wo Produce --- 7.5
- A bit off the wall but looks fun

Nodame Cantabile --- 8.5
- Very funny but I won't watch the rest till I've finished the manga

K-dramas:

Dal Ja's Spring --- 8.5
- I loved this drama. Again, the lead character is an older woman with relationship problems. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and is just very heart-warming and funny

Damo --- 9.0
- One of my faves. It's not overly long and the storyline is sophisticated and interesting. The acting is superb and the locations used are quite simply amazing

Full House --- 7.5
- Gets a bit tedious but is generally better than most romance k-dramas. Pretty funny (especially Rain's clothes pinch)

Goong --- 8.0
- Quite good. I have a few gripes though, the main one being that it is TOO long. The scenes with the old people are sleep-inducing, honestly.

Love Letter --- 7.5
- The music is this drama's saving grace. Without it this would be another tedious, drawn-out angst-fest

My Girl --- 8.5
- In general this drama was a success. Despite the storyline the characters were not too two-dimensional, and the acting was great (especially the female lead, I forgot her name). Few annoyances with some minor characters but otherwise good

K-dramas I have not finished watching:

Thank You --- 7.5
- First episode was a tad confusing but i think I'll persevere with this one as I have a weakness for stories about single mothers

I'm Sorry I Love You --- 7.5
- Looked promising but I'm told this is very sad so I may stall this one

Seo Dong Yo --- 7.5
- Looked really good but the subs were awful so I'm waiting for better ones

TW-dramas:

Corner With Love --- 8.0
- Pretty funny but quite predictable and cliched. Annoying supporting characters. In fact, most of the characters are annoying lol

Hana-Kimi --- 7.5
- Pretty funny again but Ella's acting is OTT and there is WAY too much use of interior monologuing. Seriously

Mars --- 9.0
- Another of my faves. The story is interesting (well, it is Japanese) and Barbie and Vic are absolutely brilliant. I wish everyone could watch this

My Lucky Star --- 8.0
- Pretty ok. Jimmy Lin is far too girly for my liking though, and his dad is too stereotypically strict and inflexible. The Ou Ya Rou subplot is pretty tiresome too. Otherwise, the drama has good points (mostly cause later it involves the female lead becoming a single mum ^^)

Silence --- 9.0
- Probably my favourite drama. It is... beautiful. Yes, ok, the coincidences and agonising just-missed-them moments get quite silly, but the emotion of the performances supercedes them. Vic is at his best here. One that everyone needs to watch

Smiling Pasta --- 7.5
- Rather tiresome and VERY juvenile. I don't really know why I watched it to the end. It didn't have many good points except for maybe the music

TW-dramas I have not yet finished watching:

Bump Off Lover --- 7.5
- Looks interesting but I do not like Angela Zhang at all. She looks like a little girl she's so thin and small. But it's a good job she does acting out two very different people

A Game About Love --- 7.0
- First episode was quite unremarkable. I like the idea of dancing though so I may continue

Tokyo Juliet --- 7.0
- Bleh. I can't stand Ariel Lin's acting. Probably won't be able to bring myself to watch the rest

Chinese Paladin --- 7.5
- SFX overused but otherwise looked pretty fun. Might continue watching

Meteor Garden --- 7.5
- Can't really be bothered to watch this since I already watched HYD. Didn't look too bad except that F4's clothes are horrific lol. Also the available videos are very bad quality

Well I think that's all. I hope it helps some.

I am in need of something cute, fun, and light. Something like Full House, My Girl, or Devil Beside You. A drama that doesn't require much thought to watch; I can just sit back and get addicted. Sizzling chemistry between the leads is a must!

Right now, the only possibly cute dramas I have on my 'To Watch' list are Hana Kimi, Nodame Cantabile, and Super Rookie. I'm already an avid Kdrama watcher so if someone could recommend to me some Jdoramas or Twdramas that match my criteria, that would be fantastic.

Hello, everyone.. I am really desperate in my search of asian dramas.. I am new to this stuff, and I am a bit confused.
I am searching for some dramas that are considering youth, younger adults [ teen to 25 , you know what I mean, atlhough I am over 20, (sadly:) ]
It should be also kind of fast-paced, no soap operas, and I would reaaly appreciate comedy-romantic-whatever genre. Simply no dying, no diseases, no grandparents as primary characters etc.. Smile)
I have already watched these dramas Coffee Prince ( which was great btw ),
also first three episodes of Im your SAM ( hard to get another episodes with subs though ),
Delightful Girl ... ( which was great at beginning, but later got really corny ),
and now Im watching "So I`m not handsome" which I find very entertaining.
and only 2-3 others like Single Papa(OH GOD!)

So once again, Im looking for something funny, regarding to teens, or college whatever Smile and without all those parents, grandparents, babies, deaths, "how-to-get-with-our-family-budget" themes etc

many thanks if somebody would help me would be great Smile btw I stayed at dramawiki for hours just searching myself, only now Im asking for help my mates

Can someone recommend me some "life-changing" dramas, or "life-themed" dramas such as 1 Litre of Tears? Smile Or something with meaningful life lessons, and what not.

Hi I'm looking for a decent peroid drama to get into. Romance is a must but it doesn't have to be the central theme.

I don't watch much period dramas, but here are the ones I've seen and are good:

Japanese (only watched 1): Yoshitsune

Kdrama: Dae Jang Geum, Jumong, Hong Gil Dong, The Legend, Iljimae (newest one out right now), Hwang Jin Yi

Cdrama: Eternal Happiness, Huan Zhu Ge Ge, Mischievous Princess, Butterfly Lovers, Twins of Brothers (I know title is kind of weird)
