Welcome to August 2008's Unofficial Wuxia Series of the Month (WSoTM) Poll.
WSoTM has returned after two months hiatus.
As the name implies, the WSoTM is dedicated to seeding completed Wuxia drama series with ENGLISH subs. Note that WSotM is not official yet. This poll is intended to be a test run. At the moment, I will be responsible for the seeding of the selected WSotM.
I would appreciate if you're also willing to help seed. PM me. Thanks.
The vote shall run until August 3, 2008. The seeding shall commence at August 4, 2008. So, cast your vote now! The voting is a bit late. Sorry.
If this one proves to be successful, I will open nominations for the next WSotM.
For the what, why, and how’s of a SoTM, please see this thread by puccakiss79.
Read this for the discussion of WSotM.

is Emperor Han Wu / Han Wu Da Di mainly focused on political power struggle, or are there also quite a lot of fight scenes?_________________ -- Robx --

| Seeing as there are only 13 votes so far, just a possible idea to boost popularity of WSOTM is maybe also to get some feedback on what series are demanded by members.

| Well, I prefer series with a lot of action and hot girls ;) like sword stained, roche, laughing in the wind or young warriors of the yang clan. Too much talk or political struggle is not my thing, like legend of guang gong or the great revival. Too much talk and the heroes are old folks.

Ok. Fixed, robx. Thanks.
Wrek, the poll is not linked at the torrent page, so no wonder it's not popular.
Quotie, I'll list Laughing in the Wind for the next WSotM. Young Warriors of the Yang Clan already won past WSotM, so it's not eligible.
cha2, yeah, many people don't like historical drama. But try to gather some people to increase odds of it. What I'll do is that I'll try to include one historical drama per WSotM. While technically not wuxia, I can group historical dramas into the genre.

I dont have my external harddrive atm, but I have this one (fictionised/romantised) historical/wuxia drama called Shui Tang Yin Xiong Zhuan 隋唐英雄传, I enjoyed this as I read the comic strip. Its about the transition between the Sui Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty. Its in mandarin.
Heres a uTube link to give a glimpse: http://hk.youtube.com/watch?v=4loc9WSEo3U
And also some screens:
http://www.ahtv.com.cn/gb/special/node_928.htm
Possibly if theres interest may be considered for future WSOTM?
I'll also have to check whether all not I have all the episodes.
I dont mind attempting to Sub if someone directs me to some instructions. No problems at all for me understanding spoken Chinese (mandarin/shanghainese) as I speak them at home and also grew up in an English speaking country. But may encounter difficulties with uncommon/fancy chinese terms, ie chinese poetry.

Well, the policy of D-A is that all SotMs must be completely English-subbed. So, I can't include 隋唐英雄传 to WSotM yet. Once the entire drama gets translated, it can. It looks fun, though. Historical drama with wuxia elements.
Subbing a drama is a colossal endeavor. I'd suggest you not do it alone. Join a team. Translation and timing a 45-minute episode easily takes 6 - 12 hours, with a typical average of 8 hours/episode. Multiply that by 30-40 to get an estimate for the entire drama. I'm all for translating it, but please reconsider.
If you're interested, you can join Jiang Hu (my fansub) which specializes in translating wuxia dramas. We're currently translating Royal Tramp and Legend of Condor Heroes 2008 among others. We're unable to open up new projects at the moment, though. PM me if you're interested.
Edit: 长剑相思used to be our project, but got canned since the majority of people responsible suddenly vanished. We considered Zai Sheng Yuan and Butterfly Lovers once, but they didn't fly well (not many people are interested in our group).

Well, it doesn't matter much since I already got it. I think, I l already got most of the translated wuxia dramas that still had seeders.
