just change the video to AVI and you can play it on widows media player and the subs will just automatically show up cause of VOBSub. to change it into AVI go to any folder's tools>folder options>view tab>uncheck hide extensions for known file type.
if you want, you can change it back after you changed it into AVI

this pop up shows up saying:
To load subtitles you have change the video renderer type and reopen the file.
-DirectShow: VMR7/VMR9 renderless or Haali's
-RealMedia: Special renderer for RealMedia, or open it through DirectShow
-Quicktime: DX7 or DX9 renderer for QuickTime
-Shockwave: n/a
What does this mean? |
On Media Player Classic, click on the View menu, choose Options..., then in the left pane, under Playback, click Output, then on the right pane, under DirectShow Video, choose VMR9 (Renderless) or VMR7 (Renderless), then click OK. Now close Media Player Classic, then open it again and play your rmvb file and the subtitle should automatically load (as long as the rmvb file and the srt subtitle file have the same name).
This method only requires Media Player Classic and Real Alternative (nothing else is needed to play rmvb file with subtitles).

I also want to say thank you because I was also having the same problem! Then I chenged it to VMR7 Renderless and the subtitles finally played! Thank you so much! I was getting so frustrated because I did everything that the other threads said and it didn't work!

try installing realsplitter, mpc can use realsplitter to load rmvb and external subs like .srt files.

hi i have a similar problem i figured out how to get the subs working
on both windows media player classic and windows media player with those rmvb and rst files
but i can't get the audio to work...
i'll check the FAQ sections in case this is an unrelated to the sub problem
i found that i can use crystal player without a problem but its only a trial so i want to find a solution to my problem now before later

can anyone please help me!! this is extremely frustrating!
i've done all this before and i manage to play .rmvb files with .srt subtitles on MPC but somehow i may have unconsciously deleted something on my comp and now i can't get the subtitles to appear. i've tried everything everyone has posted..i've deleted and re-downloaded vobsub and real alternative..ive changed the video renderer type and so on..does anyone have any clue as to what's wrong? i really want to use vobsub cuz some of the subtitles i have are not timed according to the version of my video file..i've used vobsub before and i could always get the timing right by setting the delay...plsss help meee!!
