The way the product packaging looks is a responsible task. Every day, people buy a lot of goods that they need for their existence. At the same time, many of them have specific storage or must be carefully transported so as not to be damaged. This should all be indicated on the product packaging.
First, you need to take into account who the buyer is, depending on age, gender, socio-demographic attitudes, and so on. It is important to make a design that is suitable for almost all the features and that will be easily perceived. The main thing is to set priorities correctly.
Packaging and wrapper types
Packaging is an external pack that is made of paper materials (cardboard, parchment) and doesn’t come into contact with the product most often. This box is put in portion bags, smaller packages, blisters, jars of liquid, and so on. The wrap comes into direct contact with the product. Most often it is manufactured from cellophane or aluminum (foil). This is done to extend the wear resistance of the product. We can also find products that only have one package, such as a juice bar or a chocolate bar. These packages are made of mixed materials, often plastic. This is done for the convenience of storing the product.
The secondary packaging contains a large amount of information. The most important information is the name of the product, the name of the brand, the number of grams, milliliters, or pieces, depending on the specific product.
You need to follow certain rules to apply the required information. You need to keep certain principles to apply the necessary data. For instance, thick and little content is hard to see for a usual customer. There ought to be an unmistakable differentiation between the name and other information. It is communicated in spans, text dimension, shading plan, etc. This will permit you to quickly discover and peruse the information you are keen on.
The product name should be special and unique. To prevent difficulty, the task of the designer is to come up with a special type of packaging that will highlight it and at the same time convey all the necessary information. There are undoubtedly a lot of chips for this, but the most important thing is to highlight the name and brand. Also, you can expend convex letters for this. Braille’s typeface is suitable enough. It’s applied when packages are gluing with a special machine. Also, the relevance of any font or design can be viewed on the free mockup.
If the product has a separate primary packaging, then it should not stand out completely different design from the primary one. This can confuse the consumer and in ordinary use, the product is easily confused with another.
Font Requirements
The font size is selected individually and largely depends on the size of the package itself. At the same time, the name of the product and brand should visually differ from the main information. When designing a package sketch, it is important to exclude effects that complicate reading. But today, this framework can shift depending on the idea of the designer and the customer, the product itself, and the purpose of transmitting information on the package.
The alignment can be any, but always the main thing is to observe its relevance against the background of pictures or any other inserts on the package. Non-standard solutions can create significant inconvenience for some people with special health conditions. You should not forget about this and take it into account when creating a unique product design.
Color
The range of shades used can improve the presentation of information and brand awareness, or, conversely, destroy the task at hand. Afterward, you need to choose the right dimming area and not exaggerate it in the right places.
From time to time, the colors used can be combined in an unusual composition and with an alternative range of eclipses. This arrangement is useful if it is the result of a particular brand and contrasts only in the combination of the package contents. Remember about the influence of colors on the human psyche and that this product can be associated with customers.
Competent packaging design can significantly increase brand sales and attract many regular customers. But this is not a lifeline. Packaging will not save you if the quality does not meet the price of the product and the expectations of the consumer.
