The really hot thing right now in laptop hardware is netbooks, which are typically < 11" screens at 1024x600 (no point in 1280x720 or 1440xwhatever), 1 gig of ram, and a 1.6gHz atom processor which I *think* will have some trouble decoding 1280x720 rips, not that it could display all the pixels...
