You'll probably have to say goodbye to any subtitles (unless you hard sub them in) but you should be able to convert the mkv into another file. I recommend .mp4, then put it on dvd.

All you have to do is rename the subtitle file o it has the same name as the video file. Keep the .avi and .srt/.ass endings in tact though.
