Re: How About J-Actresses/Actors you DON'T like??

Yes, I do have some, the ones I can think of right now are especially: Higashide Masahiro Everything I have seen him in he is just plain bad. Not one single cell in his face seems to be able to move, much less form any kind of expressive emotion. He is just standing like a stick and reciting his tex...

Re: Takei Emi

I hope it´s okay to be honest. When I saw her for the first time in 'Otomen' I was not very impressed, but then it was just a small part and she wasn´t horrible, so. But in 'Rurouni Kenshin' I found her rather pale, but then not one of the actors performances left an impression on me - I found all v...

Re: Sato Jiro

Ah, Jiro´s "goofiness" had kind of become a trademark for some of his parts. Well, he is quite a good supporting actor. I just recently saw him in the movie 'Judge' (the thriller, not the comedy - there are two recent Japanese movies with the same title) in a more serious part opposite Set...

Re: RECOMMENDED/FAVORITE JDRAMAS (ask for suggestions here)

Hi, I am looking for jdramas about older woman / younger man. Not necessarily a biiig age diference, but something like "Kimi wa petto" or "Kyou wa kaisha yasumimasu ". on the romantic-comedy side. Maybe you can try these :-) - Platonic - Second Love How about Nemureru Mori no J...

Re: [Discussion] Hana Moyu

I´m going to stop now. I tried to watch as long as possible, and to be honest, my only reason to continue was the character of Toshimaro. This was from start to finish an excellent performance from Seto Koji. He offered the whole range of emotion and depth to his character until the very last second...

My final opinion on Lost Days is, that it´s actually a enjoyable series, but could have been even better with another writer and without Kiriyama, Triendl and Yoshizawa. I took my time and rewatched the whole series again. It´s really not a bad series per se at all, it´s simply that some factors hav...

Triendl isn´t a good actress, but at least she isn´t hamming up her scenes constantly, so I´m okay with her. Apart from Kiriyama´s limited expressions (angry, bland and smilling - always in the same manner - he can´t do more), he is constantly trying veeeery hard to look crazy, which is simply annoy...

Ah well, I watched all episodes up to now, so only the last one on Saturday is left. The main disappointment for me is that Kiriyama Ren and Yoshizawa Ryo are such terrible actors, up to the point that they are really ruining scenes with their overacting. :/ Another thing is that all characters, wit...

Oh that´s great! I´m looking forward to watch both series. Is it just me, or does his part in Nemureru Mori no Jukujo has some Dorian Gray vibe to it? But then, it´s a romantic comedy, so it surely isn´t going to be as tragically, but that Prince sounds like a great part for Koji. I love his complex...

Hmm, I wonder... If the writer make the princesses have to take etiquette lessons everyday, without knowing what's going on outside, they cannot hang around men, may not talk abt politic-related matters, and just responds submissively to whatever they are told to do... Won't it make a boring story?...

In his Novel "Taiko" described Eiji Yoshikawa, that Ranmaru used wood to build a coffin around Nobunaga, for lighter inflaming. There was also the possibility that the boy used fuel in form of the little shokudai (small oil lanterns) to heat up the fire. I don´t know to what degree the bon...

I liked this series. It was not one of the best Dramas ever, but it was good.
The story was slow paced and you needed patience here and there, but the characters moved well with it. When you have time and need a "calm" series, I would say have a look at it.
