Re: An introduction to and history of D-Addicts
Thank you for this capsule history. 17 years is a good run for a website like this, and I hope it has many years ahead of it -- because, selfishly, it is my go-to site for dorama news and subs. While I get the feeling that we're in a transition period now, as a number of long-time fansubbers cut bac...

Re: JPTVTS (all questions regarding the site goes here) [NOT OPEN FOR INVITATIONS]
I just saw that someone donated upload credit on JPTVTS to get my ratio up, but when I accepted it wiped out the name of the generous donator before I noted it! So please accept all my thanks here -- it was quite generous and will certainly allow me to download more (and keep seeding of course!)

Re: JPTVTS (all questions regarding the site goes here) [NOT OPEN FOR INVITATIONS]
Many thanks Keiko1981 -- I'll see about doing that. Haha -- not much else to do in Paris now anyway. Locked down pretty tight so I can catch up on all the doramas I haven't watched yet (and seed forever). Many thanks for all your help and everything you do to keep this site working smoothly!

Re: JPTVTS (all questions regarding the site goes here) [NOT OPEN FOR INVITATIONS]
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but my ratio on JPTVTS has fallen too low for immediate downloads (have to wait). I'm seeding everything that I've downloaded in recent months, but no one is leeching, so obviously I get no upload credit to improve my ratio. Is there any way to get credit? What if...

I'd like to know if the series is so close to the book that reading and then watching would make sense or if they altered the story so much that watching without subs would only lead to confusion? Well, I've only just started but so far it follows the book pretty closely. It's also set in the same ...

That last episode was beautifully executed. I can't say enough about how absolutely amazing Abe Hiroshi is. That man can play emotions across his face as easily as I breathe, and he made me go 'aaw' and sit in tense silence in sec. I'm going to miss this drama :-( Second that all the way. I found t...

Well, I admit that I'm an Abe Hiroshi fanboy and I am totally in love with Yamaguchi Tomoko  , so my opinion is far from unbiased. But I agree with scattie and antspace. These are really good actors in a story that requires some thinking and reflection. Combine that with the Labor Thanksgiving ...

I would like to add my two cents, in agreement with MaiKitty. It's also a question of aesthetics -- are you attracted to Japanese shows that are more slice of life, bitterweet, wabi-sabi? Then Going My Home is a real gem. Or do you prefer the more manga style (hospitals, high schools, cops)? Then cl...

Unsure where to post my thanks to everyone involved in this project, so I'll do it here. This has been a major undertaking and labor of love from some really dedicated, kindhearted folks -- bmwracer, gryzze, liubeibei (and I do hope he's all right), yanie, avallac'h and anyone else I left out (with ...

I worry that she'll get pidgeon-holed into superficial romance dramas... I'd like to see her as a professional: doctor, cop, lawyer, etc... Something smart and lively. Oh, I think she could easily move into those roles (à la Shinohara Ryoko, perhaps?). One thing she showed in Gou is that she has le...

Ha ha ha :lol -- Nodame hands off to Chiaki senpai. So cool. Thanks for sharing futarichan (and commenting yanie)! Also, without disputing what anyone has posted, I think it's important to remember that taiga dramas are basically soap operas, whose connection with actual history is, well, a bit tenu...

Just wanted to thank everyone for the enlightening and insightful political/historical discussions. :salut: People tend to think of taigas as just entertainment, but they do touch on real issues that are still being debated. In Europe, for example, whose sengoku period lasted for centuries (and didn...

You know, after watching episodes 28 and 29 (sorry, I'm behind some of the more advanced Japanophones on the forum), I couldn't help but thinking, as the song goes, sometimes it's hard to be a woman -- especially in the 16th century, which does seem like a different planet at times. But I also thoug...

Thanks 'racer! BTW, there are probably millions of Oda Nobunaga descendants around today, so finding one in California is probably not that unusual. On the other hand, it's unusual that he knows it -- how many people can trace back to a 16th century ancestor? Along the same lines, I think that's why...
