Wow, I've been so busy catching up on stuff from 04 and 05, the only two dramas I've watched from 06 were Kurosagi and Rondo, both of which weren't so good (sorry people above me). The 5 dramas I really want to see eventually are Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, 14 Sai, Nodame, My Boss, and Komyo ga Tsuji. I'l...

Thanks guys! I'm downloading Over The Rainbow now, and I'll try Bad Family if I have time left later. BTW, what's up with fansubbers hardsubbing just ep 3 and ep 7 of kdramas? I notice this in Rainbow and Rude Woman . . is this normal, and if so what's the story behind it?

What the heck, it seems like every good-mannered post I make on here turns into some crazy debate. Seriously, this was intended as a study of the fall dramas based on downloads, forum views and ratings that I was collecting for fun. I'm just really interested in this season, and even more interested...

A specific kdrama recommendation needed!

Hi there, I'm teaching a group of young Korean students English in January and I'm trying to get an idea of what's hip. Can anyone recommend a kdrama that's: 1. Very recent 2. Popular with high school Korean students 3. Fully subbed or being subbed in English 4. Not *too* long . . say, under 25 epis...

You must consider one idea: What becomes popular on D-Addicts is solely on the following factors: - Does the casting or subject matter encourage fansubbing? - Fansubbed shows ALWAYS beat out unsubbed shows. - D-Addicts demographics is totally different than the average viewer in Japan. Japanese vie...

Popularity Countdown for Fall 06 dramas

I've been really interested in this season's dramas since there's a compelling reason to watch almost every series. Now that we're at the halfway point, I decided to note some stats and figure out which one people are choosing to watch . . West (d-addicts) If you went by the downloads alone, here's ...

I finally finished Yoshitsune, my first taiga drama, and I was surprised at how incredible it turned out to be even though I'm not much of a fan of pre-modern stuff. It did get boring early for a dozen episodes or so, but around the mid-20s when the war began and things were going to hell, it got re...

Man, I've been studying Japanese for 10 years, doing 3 years of Japanese in school, living 2 years in Japan, watched a bunch of jdramas, anime and movies and listened to a lot of jpop, and I still can barely understand anything without subtitles. >_< I think it really just depends on how good your m...

As I indicated earlier, it is not YouTube's position or right to take a copyrighted work and do something with it against the copyright owner's wishes. It isn't JASRAC that you should be attacking; it is their clients you should be addressing. For example, Johnny's Jimusho is one of JASRAC's client...

I'm really enjoying reading this thread, it's given me some things to think about next time I say so-and-so is a good actor. :) BTW, if you have A LOT of free time, you should check out one of the taiga dramas. They're perhaps the most respected series on Japanese TV and so actors/actresses take the...

I do have an issue with JASRAC and Youtube, but it's more about music videos than dramas. Honestly, I'm surprised people actually post and watch jdramas on Youtube . . the quality is so poor that you can barely make out the subtitles. I would be really depressed if JASRAC ever closed down d-addicts,...

While I've only watched 20 or so jdramas, here's two I recommend for the acting: 1. Joou no Kyoushitsu - Ok, not everyone in this show are great actors, but check it out for Amami Yuuki (the teacher) and Mirai Shida (the student). Amami Yuuki was the leader of Takarazuka which someone mentioned earl...

It would be a better twist if Kame doesn't make it because it would be more unexpected and a lot of people would cry. Now THAT would be very interesting and bold. ^_^ I've never seen or heard of a jdrama where the guy dies yet . . I'm sure there's one out there, but I'm guessing they're rare. Maybe...

All I know about this series is from the wiki description: A story of pure love between the son of a man who runs a ship repair factory beset with financial troubles and the well-bred daughter of a national jewelry chain store owner. But from just that, I'm willing to bet: 1. The rich parents of Aya...

I've watched about 15 dramas now, and here's what I recommend so far:

For school dramas: Joou no kyoushitsu, Dragonzakura, Gokusen, Nobuta. wo Produce
For romance: Sekai no Chuushin de . ., Ima Ai ni Yukimasu
For something different: TRICK, Saiyuuki

I. love. Dragonzakura. While I haven't seen all the dramas from 2005, this one is currently the best. I used to teach in Japan, so a lot of this stuff was helpful for me if I return again. I was taking notes throughout. ^^ Someone who is not a teacher or student may not enjoy it as much unless you'r...

Nobuta wo Produce was great!! I love the directing, the cinematography, the heart, and the fact that it taught me a bit more about Japanese high school students (sure, a lot of it is exagerrated, but it still felt more real than say, Gokusen or Hana Yori Dango). My only major problem is that some of...

Man, I didn't cry once, and I'm a pretty sensitive guy (SekaChu and Ima Ai have made me cry  ). So I know I'm a minority, but I didn't like 1 Litre that much. I posted a lengthy review about why a few days ago on my blog ( PLUG! ^^v ), but in short, there's just too much dramatic irony. I also ...
