test phpbb3 forum

in order to ensure that everything will still run smoothly after the migration to phpbb3, i have a test partial conversion of this forum to phpbb3. link: http://alpha.d-addicts.com/forums/. there are no users located on that forum other than mods and admins (since it takes a very long time to convert users), but please create a (test) username on the test forum to make sure everything still works as expected.

the torrents do not work on the new phpbb, but the testing is to also make sure that it does.

NOTE: that is a testing forums, all content there is subject to deletion.

I noticed that the spoiler tag isn't working after doing a copy paste of my Miss Pilot English subs post.

Just letting you guys know.

I configured the spoiler tag bbcode for the new board.
The spoiler tag bbcode was an addon here and not part of the original forum software.

hmm, doesn't look exactly as intended.
the html code may need some fixing...

I can't find 'mark all forum as read' in test port

Maybe I'm stating the obvious here but... 90% of the emoticons don't work on the test forum.

I'm sure it's work in progress. or "Under Construction"

Give the Administrators time to work on it. No RUSH.

I know, I know. I'm not trying to rush anyone here :lol
I'm just trying to give feed back on my observation in "testing" the new forum, maybe this was a obvious thing that I shouldn't have reported...
Personally I don't use emoticons so often so it's all right for me.

"Mark forums read" is right above the forum index

apparently they all just started working?

yeah, I copied our old smiley files to the proper folder.
and in th ACP I fixed the default 15x15 size to the right size for each smiley. . ε-(´・`) フー

I'll create a smiley pack, so it is less work next time.

when do you think you can have that done? since we will need it when i actually do the real conversion.

I have exported the pak file.
It can be successfully imported in the ACP.
A copy of the pak file is in the backup folder.

Currently the maximum limit for torrents are 500kb. Is there any way to increase the limit for the new phpbb?

Maybe 1mb? :w00t:

yeah, there will be a (hopefully) new and improved torrent upload page for phpbb3, which may even be an official mod in the future :)

Good to hear. That means I can make my torrents in smaller pieces.

Total invasion is more like it. Hundreds of pages all spammers only. How they got time to do it is beyond me. Maybe they got bots to do it?

Either the Spam filter is not working or they got a smarter way to bypass it.

I find this a little annoying on this forum so I was wondering if it will be changed on the new forum.

Is it possible that different language subtitles will be have their own forums? English, Hungarian, Japanese, German, Italian etc? Just seems to me it's a bit hard to look through even though we do have an index sorted that way, it would be nice if each language had it's own subtitle forum.

i am working on the spam issue, and will probably reset that forum in the near-ish future.

also, since the new phpbb3 is a major revamp, all concerns, comment, etc. welcome. i will be making a new forum for this specifically, so please repost this there so we can keep track of it.

Anyone who knows if the reoccurring downtime of the forum will be solved when/if we switch to phpbb3? Or is it simply server related?
I did however notice that the test forum doesn't work either when the regular forum is offline.

some security changes to the alpha forum:
- reCaptcha module installed by waf
- Anti-Spam module installed now
- pruned all spam accounts and spam posts

The recent "downtimes" are probably caused by the alpha forum. This should be fixed soon.

So these spammers are the cause of the downtimes? Damn these spammers. :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:

most likely not. the server itself is not a super beefy, which is most likely the reason everything is down when the main forum is down. that said, even if the server gets ddos'ed, a more beefy server may not help that much either.

however, i am talking to tony about possible ways to possibly mitigate this.

well, I think the apache server isn't optimally configured yet. I just lowered some "prefork MPM" settings. Maybe this will help. The mysql server settings may need some tweeking as well. Perhaps some values need to be lowered because the server has only 4GB RAM. This might cause these lockups during heavy load times (e.g. during backup maintenance).
I never checked these settings on the forum server, only on the wiki server.

Sorry for my stupid question, but i'm wondering why there will be a new phpBB3 forum? Maybe i haven't read an already existing answer yet, because i wasn't active here for a while
