Hello everyone! Cha`o ca'c ba.n !! it is good to know that there is a viet community here.... first i want to say that, we all shouldn't um... involve ourself with what happened in the past. Lets just look toward the future okay? Vietnam isn't so bad as .... a lot of people portrayed it to be in the news... I think it is just one sided basically... I'm borned in Vietname and i know how to read, write, and speak in vietnamese. I've been back there twice already, and let me tell you.... i feel free there as if i was here! about the catholic oppression or whatever, the place where i live everyone goes to church normally and i dont see it as bad as what ppl over say it is... Again like i said, you have to be there to know but lets not call each others name and point fingers!
Hmm i think if we are all vietnamese we should learn to write/speak/ and read in vietnamese even if we are borned here im sure we can all learn like we learn english right? Lets not forget our root, and be proud of our country please! It is very fun there, and unlike here, neighbors are very close to each others. Even though we are not a rich country, we are improving at a fast rate if you have been back to Vietnam to noticed. I'm sure for those who haven't been back for a long time or haven't been there might be scared of coming back, but trust me it will be a fun experience.
kk,, i might have talked too much,,,
cha`o ca'c ba.n va` chu'c moi nguoi mot ngay vui ve nha!

well.....from what i saw when i went to Vietnam.....Saigon is more modernize now and its amazingly populated. Wait till you see the traffic there, i'd think you'd be a bit surprised There are couple malls in Saigon, if i remember right, there's one called Diamond or something like that. It's pretty much like a Macy'siLOVEhyunbin wrote:hahah that`s strange yett coool. =] very interesting. is this like the common life in vietnam? is there like a hierarchy there where there are rich . poor . neither? or what part of vietnam is that? nga trang? saigon? i`ve seen pictures & the houses are so clean haha . & the sea looks beautiful but are there any malls? ;] i`m sad i never got to go to vietnam but if i ever got the oppurtunity to go anywhere in the world. i`d choose south korea or japan tee hee =]gummonster wrote:I also live in California, well i used to live in my beautiful country Vietnam. It's cool if you love Nha Trang. Everyone love their own town, i can understand, but dont mess up with the others. Caused I lived in SaiGon and sure i love my own home, too. Dont just compare so easy. Nha Trang is nice for TRAVELING. But for living?? ......gummonster wrote:I lived near Nha Trang, to me Nha Trang is a better place than Saigon. Nha Trang beach is the best, it was my favorite place in Vietnam. Saigon is just messy, it's over populated and the air is bad, and it just not cool. and yes there is difference between rich and poor because of the Communist.
* Note: I dont want to start a fight with anyone. Just so mad because .. upthere!!!

Yeah that mall is Diamond Plaza. Although it's not as big as Macy yet, it's cool for now on. And maybe you mean Pho 24. , because whatever type you order, it's just 24 dong. But now maybe it costs more than that, i'm not sure .K.T.Tran wrote:well.....from what i saw when i went to Vietnam.....Saigon is more modernize now and its amazingly populated. Chao cac anh chi em. Em luoi qua, nhu vay em khong dan dau. Sinh loi neu em danh van xai.
x] It's been so long since I've had to write in vietnamese, so sorry for all the wrong spellings! So, and introduction. I`m female, living in California, and currently obsessed with Oguri Shun & Lee Junki. I`m more into jdoramas than kdramas & I love music. Ooh, I've only been to Vietnam once, about 7-8 years ago, so I don't remember much. I DO remember going to Nha Trang & playing in the beach. I remember riding around Saigon in those motorcycles. That was fun. I want to see what Vietnam is like now, cause I think I`d be able to appreciate it so much more.

I need to remember that one restaurant i went to where they had them deep fried crab. IT WAS CRAZY GOOD!!!!!
hahaha i'm learning Japanese too. Well i haven't taken classes for almost a year, and forgot a lot of kanji and even probably how to conjugate to -te form correctly. I need to go over the books.
I took Vietnamese for like.....1/4 of the quarter and then had to drop it. I didn't even succeed in memorizing the vietnamese alphabet, if that's what it's called.
Noo need to feel ashamed, just take viet classes or go to viet school

alright i am a vietnam-my~. not an asian
finally,
first of all...have you guys notice the so called "asian" group don't include vietnamese?
these slanty sellout bastards are like the ancient axis of evil "China,Japan,Korea."
yes i don't understand why we like korean kraps. they got as much "made talents" as britney spears and justin timerblake. don't forget how awfull it is when they sell kpop to american audiences.
Please viet people if you plan to have an entertainment industry someday dont' be like them, be original, have some pride and humility.
That's not gonna happen right? what i've seen is more eroding of culture and the evolution of a common whore, just like everywhere else in the world.
Monkey see, monkey do?

Our under developed vietnam has a long laundry list after the war, i'm appalled that our fellow vietnamese choose to ignore this goodness.
start with how broke ass vietnam was in the great imperialism age, comes the war, the russian had to sell us old ww2 weapons and chinese junks to fight America. Vietnam lost 2 island the size of texas for that.
After the war, a certain bittered country decided to pull all kinds of trading diplomacies that the N.korea are still reeling from . ala embargos and if Vietnam is your friend i wont' do economic trades with you.
You wonder if Japan & SKorea who they themselves could lend us a hand back then, well that just wishful thinking
third we got an overzealous genoicidal maniac name pol pot, if you're cambodian and you need united states to intervene in the late 70s, you're better off praying for God.
that adventure to stop a genocide brought more economic holes in our torn pajamas.
Big fat commie china, who just befriend nixon n United Assholes of america wanted to teach Vietnam a "lesson" in 1979 also helps. Thanks China!!
But all of this is forgotten right? why dug up the past it just a little shortchanged and there's really no excuses why Vietnam should be poor and cant' catch up with the Yankee's Yes boys from korea and japan.

does any of you know any vietnamese band? i dunno anything about vietnamese entertainment. but sometimes i was able to watch some dvd of vietnameses singers from vietnam, and to be honest, i was quite upset about it (they sucked a lot!!). ]
well it's really nice to be able to know so many vietnamese people from around the world.

Oh my god! Vietnamese losers

the article has viet losers all over it from Canada too

I agree that I myself don't very much like Viet music as much as Japan/Korean music. When I think of it now it's shameful to not support my own music. But somehow Viet music is not BIG like Japanese and Korean music in Asia. Isn't that odd that we are not even included when ppls talk about Asians. Well, I'm trying to listen to Viet music, artists like Phuong Thanh, Minh Tuyet, Ouang Le, etc. Hopefully someday Viet music can be as big as Japanese, CHinese and Korean music.=D
->i'm not good at eng. But if you can't understand, i'll write it in eng
->i'm not good at eng. But if you can't understand, i'll write it in eng

Well it's a damn shame, people who are in this business do have guts, over here we got plenty of blacks, hispanics, whites who does this sort of thing. They have guts too!
If you read the article, people who have guts got no brain either,
apparently growing pots required unusual electricity and past accidents where firemen found burned house with unusual amount of marijuana doesn't help. Like americans dont' log things down and turn it to stats. Duhhh...
People who use their guts, Like George Bush, they have no brains!!!!
Smart people who can get away with these things are : not greedy, (earn your money and do something else). an example of this stupid greedy people are stashing wads of cash in one place, doesn't know how to put it in a foreign bank account, and manufacturing $42 million worth of this weed.
I ask you are they not stupid and greedy and they forgot the littlest details can catch up on them? therefore they are no different from the stupid blacks and hispanics monkey see monkey do.
Money is simply addictive.

I disagree with some of you guys. to me, i think some of Viet music is really good like you know some of XUAN and TET music, really good. and personally i don't like singers in vietnam and don't like minh tuyet. singers like Nhu Quynh, Van Quynh, and well the people that i like sings really good songs. SOngs that has like Chinese melody, i absolutely hate them, i like original vietsongs. so yeah, not all Viet songs sucks.
Looking for drama or movies recommendations
Hello,
I got hooked on Korean dramas and movies just before Christmas.
I'm just getting out of kdrama rehab now. Can someone suggest anything from Vietnam
that is close in quality to say, "Beautiful days" or "Winter sonata".
What I like most about watching stuff from other countries (outside of North America) is the chance to learn a bit about a different culture. Nothing deep or profound; not by watching their video products. But a small, but mangnified angle into their culture. I find it interesting how hierarchical Korean society still is. The roles of men and women are still fairly well defined compared to those in Canada. There seems to be an emphasis on sacrificing oneself or one's own desire for another's. At least, that seems to be the ideals they try to uphold on the screen; big or small.
Anyway, I'm ready to move on to Vietnam. Please give a few suggestions.
Thanks

SOngs that has like Chinese melody, i absolutely hate them, i like original vietsongs. so yeah, not all Viet songs sucks.
i agree that vietnamese music is good, even the singers are good. but i just don't like music and singers from vietnam. they all have the same voice, and act crazy all the time when they're singing (weird dances), like dam vinh hung, phuong thanh, ect. you know what i mean. but singers like nhu quynh, tuan ngoc, ect. are really good. there are two different groups of singers, those who live outside of vietnam are much better singers.
it seems like anyone could become a singer in vietnam, as long as you have money. and i just hate the way they copy other country entertainment, but they are not capable enough, and mostly because they don't have the freedom to do so that's why they suck so bad.

is the new paris by night you talked about is the new tet dvd?
i used to like Paris by Night a lot, but for the last few years i started to like Asia Entertainment more and more. i guess it's because PbN ran out of topics and also ran out of good singers. just recently, they've returned to the older singers and older songs, which are much better.

Life in Viet Nam just got BETTER and CLOSER
http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/02/06/ ... etrail.php
anyway, Japan is helping Viet Nam building a railways system and the trains can travel up to 350 kilometers an hour, and will reduce the train journey between the capital, Hanoi, and the commercial hub of Ho Chi Minh City to less than 10 hours from more than 30 hours.
JAPAN ROCKS.
OK folks, it's look like Viet Nam is finally putting good money to use. They're building a $33 BILLION US Railways system, and where do they get the HELP from, JAPAN. Everyone knows the Japanese make the BEST TRAIN and Fastest TRAIN TOO. Something the koreans probably can't accept.HANOI: Vietnam plans to build a high-speed railroad with aid from Japan at an estimated cost of $33 billion in a project that would cut travel time by two-thirds between Hanoi in the north and Ho Chi Minh City in the south, the Vietnamese government said.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung gave approval to the state-run Vietnam Railways to invest in the 1,630- kilometer, or 1,010- mile, track, a statement on the government's Web site said Monday.
Dung has assigned Vietnam Railways to work with Japanese experts on a detailed investment plan, the statement said.
Seventy percent of the funding will come from the Vietnamese government, mainly in the form of Japanese official development assistance. Vietnam Railways will raise 30 percent of the cost from loans, Nguyen Huu Bang, director of the railroad company, said.
The train service monopoly does not release profit figures, but its revenues in 2006 rose 13.2 percent from the previous year to 5.3 trillion dong, or $330 million, the Vietnam News reported Tuesday.

Japan is the biggest country donor to Vietnam. It has pledged $890 million in aid for the country this year, or 6.5 percent higher than the 2006 level of $835.6 million.
International governments and agencies have pledged a record $4.45 billion in aid to Communist-run Vietnam for this year as the Southeast Asian country seeks to improve its underdeveloped infrastructure.
The railroad, to be built over a six- year period, will reduce the train journey between the capital, Hanoi, and the commercial hub of Ho Chi Minh City to less than 10 hours from more than 30 hours.
Trains will be able to travel on the proposed line at speeds of up to 350 kilometers an hour, state-run media said.
Existing train service between the two cities is limited to a single track with a narrow gauge of 1,000 millimeters over 1,726 kilometers. The new line will use a wider gauge, 1,435 millimeters.

MBMH is a school comedy drama. Nagase Tomoya is hilarious. You'll get lots of good laughs in. The guy who played Sakurakoji.....he seems way too gay in this one hahal
Orange Days deals with romance and its deals with college students. This one is really worth watching. I've heard some people say they love Shibasaki Kou in this and others hated her because of the character's personality that she played. If you can get past that, you'll see that its a great drama and the acting is good too.
i have to agreed with you ...I enjoyed my Korean and Chinese OST more than our Vietnamese remixed music.xl Linh lx wrote:@vietbabi : I concur with you and the rest of the people you quoted. I was just wondering, does any Vietnamese Singer ( living in America) write their own song that is decent to hear? Give me names and I will definitely try it out.

Big freaking deal. BFD.
Japan can build trains yay, lets jump for joy!!! now every vietnamese can cough out $40usd to ride it someday.
No wait, japan can build on a bundle of money with no interest whatso ever, except place it's cheaper manufacturing labor in Vietnam, transport goods it on the supaSubaru Train and sell it to China's market...
really the average vietnamese can't afford to ride a bullet train yet their earnings can't catch up until America colonized Mars.
Hey!! remember the french used to build trains too.. for all vietnamese to ride it to disney land. or to the hongkong opium trade, samething.
Korea,Taiwan, Japan doing good deeds in vietnam?, remember the last 500yrs of history does not resolve around Vietnam, but it's all about accessing China's billion consumers.

Hi you all ! Let's all remember that D-Addicts forum is about oriental dramas. This is not a political forum where ideology is to be discussed. So like all other folks who disagree on the way that some participants had behaved, let's try to keep this forum clean and more focused.
In reference to the ones who dislike Korean dramas so much, I suggest that they watch more good korean dramas with an open mind and analyze the plot more on how the same love triangle or quadrangle is given new twists with each new drama. They are not all the same. Also, give credits to the actors and actresses according to the role they play in the drama. I haven't seen one drama where the character was played by the wrong actor. The korean directors have that particular gift of finding the right actor or actress to play one particular role. And If doing all what I suggested did not help you like or love the korean dramas somewhat better, you should just quit wasting your time watching them, so you could avoid any more frustration. It's bad for your health.

Hi you all. It's me again. I happen to see the "Viet Community right here at d-addicts" announcement in the latest 10 active posts and reacted to the first initial posts not knowing that there is a total of 69 pages since the forum started in 2005. I went thru most of them and was pleasantly surprised that the vietnamese forum had become more interesting and quite diverse. Let's keep it that way.
Posting in Vietnamese sounds like a good idea but this will keep out a lot of participants who could not read vietnamese. I have VPSKeys on my computer and it does not work all the times at other sites.

god you're so stupid. Just where exactly are you GETTING this $40 USD from? It clearlyJapan can build trains yay, lets jump for joy!!! now every vietnamese can cough out $40usd to ride it someday.

did not state that from the article.
Clearly you HATE VIET NAM and you can't stand that fact in 6 years Viet Nam will have the best technologies from Japan. Technologies can can improve the lifestyles of average Vietnamese people.
You are clearly ignore and you're just spread LIES and HATE. No one in Viet Nam cares about China and as for your billions consumers in China, the average capital per head in china is less than a $ 1 000 USD/per year. Do you think the average chinese can afford the $40 USD train tickets?
Even if Viet Nam exports goods to China by Super FAST trains, is that really a BAD thing? you ignore beast.
Japan can build as many trains as they want in Viet Nam, in fact i even hope Japan will increase in automobiles productions in Viet Nam too, create more jobs and more technologies.
If you can't help us inprove our country, you can at the very least shut your month. There's a word for what you are, it's call cowardice.

@toubib46
in 2006, I think I watch about 10 kdramas but only manage to finish 5 or 6 of them. The one i didn't finish were so stupid and was a wash of my time. Heaven Tree was one of the worst korean drama ever made. this drama was either written by a retard or a idiot. Needless to say I did not finish it.
On the Japanese dramas, I watch about 12 drams and manage to finish about 10 of them. some of the Japanese dramas are really stupid too.
The Train man is one of the all time favorite Jdrama. Korean need to make drama like this if koreans wants my vote.
[/quote]
No, they're not all the same, but 90% of them are the same. Winter Sonata and Stairway to Heaven are a knockoff of each other. They are not all the same.
Haahahha, that's funny. I thought that retarded looking secret service agent in "I Really REally like YOU" was laughable. Maybe you should watch Heaven Tree. A under developed 16 korean KID play a mature woman.I haven't seen one drama where the character was played by the wrong actor.
I don't think it's approbate for you to tell people that they should do or not do. your suggestion are very stupid and insulting at best. People like me, do not watch too many korean dramas because there's are better Japanese dramas to watch. We have 9-5 jobs and we don't have a lot of times to watch Dramas. So we pick the dramas that we think are good. And If doing all what I suggested did not help you like or love the korean dramas somewhat better,

Let's be fair, I hate every country equally.
Captain Nippon:
Clearly you HATE VIET NAM and you can't stand that fact in 6 years Viet Nam will have the best technologies from Japan. Technologies can can improve the lifestyles of average Vietnamese people.
We'll see about that in 6yrs,
Clearly you are a jap lover, who thinks that Japs and the rest of the well off asian countries bring good intention to Vietnam's market labor. The one party system thinks it can cover everything the population needs including extensive labor rights and wages, that explains all the workers on strike right now demanding $1usd more per month. lol.
I would drool if I was a Japanese manufacturer moving to Vietnam. Looking at this knave country with archaic knowledge of capitalist economy, albeit an ever evolving capitalist economy that Vietnam is just learning from yesterday's Korea,Taiwan,Hongkong, &Singapore. Oh by the way, the japs were there too. 1980s.
If you love vietnam so much you should read on how the japs treat vietnam from what's already WRITTEN in history.
My favorite one is during 1979 china's border intrusion, Japan being critical ,played along with the americans on the embargo(a vile act), complaint about vietnam's intervention in Cambodia.
while they sit and watch the genocide and make lovely friends with USA so they can access american's consumer market. That's your japs for you.
You should read some more on the korea too another usa tool.

Clearly you are afraid the impact of a raising asia. Do you wants to know how much China is screwing your lovely america each year? You probably have no idea how much China have a trade surpass against america and why the Yuen are undervalue and there NOTHING washington can do about it. Bush's are POWERLESS.
Oh by the way, much many American jobs has moved to Asia? Viet Nam/China/India, LOL. I feel sorry for those IBM cal center in the USA, they' just don't know if they will have a job next day.l
The Japanese are in Viet Nam to do business, Japanese are building trains/cars/trains and airport for Viet Nam, you clearly have a problem with that. . How can a jealous toad like you say that's a bad thing. Clearly Americans don't have the best intentions when IBM/Ford and GM goes to China and taking advantages of the cheap labor.
And no it was not a border intrusion, it was an INVASION by the Chinese. Guess what, we kick them out of Viet Nam like we did the americans. Say hello to Tibet and Taiwan for me. That's Chinese for you.
The only genocide are the one American commented in Viet Nam, of course they FAIL and it cost america about 57 000 soldiers and few hundreds of billions. Like most coward terrorists, they invade and go home empty handed.
Speaking of Wars, how's the Iraq wars coming? over 3000 yanks deads, a fews hundreds billions down the drain and genocide are being commented by american against iraqi childrens. Feel proud to be American?
Let just say that Japanese treat Viet Nam a lot better than the yanks treat the North American Indians. I don't see americans training are providing jobs for Indians after the genocide by americans soldiers. That's yanks for ya.
Here you are bashing Japan for investment money in Viet Nam, but does it really have anything to do with you at ALL? You're not Vietnamese and CLEARLY not Japanese so why come here a comment a hate crime? Do you see the INFERIOR COMPLEX you're showing? I guess Toyota should stop building factories in America and stop providing american jobs than.
Bashing hate for Japan but at the same time high raising america for cowardly murdering iraqis. I think we all know what kind of people you are.
More investment are coming to Viet Nam now more than ever, it's will break your heart, GOOD. We have our history and our PRIDE, we not aiming for the Moon, we just aiming to be BETTER THAN YESTERDAY. That's Japanese, it's called Kaizen. Live with it my friend cause six years from now, Viet Nam will be a lot better than today.........of course by than you're probably get a heart attack.
You're clearly have problem with Viet Nam raising power. That's good, it means you're jealous and upset. Not to mention of how stupid you are. Nobody in Viet Nam makes 1 USD a month you ignorance toad. Too bad those slave labors working for Toyota/Honda in the USA are getting less pays than their japanese co-workers.We'll see about that in 6yrs,

1. Can we not call each other stupid or "toad" or whatever. Lets keep this a friendly a thread 2. Lets not use terms such as "Jap" and others too. Its just not nice

You're clearly have problem with Viet Nam raising power. That's good, it means you're jealous and upset. Not to mention of how stupid you are. Nobody in Viet Nam makes 1 USD a month you ignorance toad. Too bad those slave labors working for Toyota/Honda in the USA are getting less pays than their japanese co-workers.captain-nippon wrote:@ eastingfeasting
The Japanese are in Viet Nam to do business, Japanese are building trains/cars/computers and airport for Viet Nam, you clearly have a problem with that.. How can a jealous toad like you say that's a bad thing. Clearly Americans don't have the best intentions when IBM/Ford and GM goes to China and taking advantages of the cheap labor.
YOU'RE A EVIL PERSON, you mock Viet Nam for being under developed country and laugh at us and start BASHING the Japanese when they start businesses in Viet Nam. You're a COWARD, yours actions are nothing less but weakling DOG.
Speaking of Wars, how's the Iraq wars coming? over 3000 yanks are deads, a fews hundreds billions down the drain and genocide are being commented by american against iraqi childrens.
Bashing hate for Japan because they're starting businesses in Viet Nam but at the same time high raising america, a country that commented genocide and terrorism in Viet Nam for murdered over 10 millions Vietnamese. I think we all know what kind of people you are. So tell me, to the Vietnamese people which look better, americans for their murderous and terrorism or Japan for their business investments?
More investment are coming to Viet Nam now more than ever, it's will break your heart, GOOD. We have our history and our PRIDE, we not aiming for the Moon, we just aiming to be BETTER THAN YESTERDAY.
