I actually haven't seen Asia 55, but just heard on the www.sbtn.net news that this song got the most downloads from one of the download sites. And so I listened to it on youtube and really enjoyed the performance.
oh, ok. i think it's not out yet. but a lot of people have seen it already. huhm... weird.

Thank you so much for the site nhatkiviet.com, it's an awesome blog. I did watch the movie without subtitle and don't want to watch it again with Viet sub but that site is so cool.

You can also watch "the Rebel" on www.asiahigh.com at full length. FYI.

@ih2try: I guess you're mad at leetran. Well, some people love to look at the photobalbum and reminisce the past (even thought it was not that glorious). We just need to move forward and leave those behind. :)
@byakko: Where is Hon Tre Island? Is it located in the North too? I already visited Ha Long Bay.

Post by fimfim » Oct 17th, '07, 23:49

Hello to all Viet d-addicts. Thought you all might be interested in a Viet drama called "Mùi Ngò Gai" (100 episodes), a drama made in Vietnam in conjunction with Korean film makers: http://www.petalia.org/Funpage/Phim/muingogai.htm

More info on it here too: http://chichoe.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=14228

@Byakko: Thank you for the info. I waited too long to get the ticket to VN. Now I might not be able to make it back there for December. Bummer! :( Still waiting for my travel agent to call me back.

In fact, Saigon Eclipse was too boring, I watched it several months ago. But there's a super hot girl in that movie, you'll see.

The Rebel has the best action scenes but it wasn't so good as I had expected.

Yuna : I watched SG Eclipse at the cinema. That movie hasn't been shared on internet yet (I guess it's because that movie was boring :( they don't talk much about it in some forum where I used to find movies at)

fimfim: Hanoi Hanoi is a Vietnam - China movie, the main character of it is a young Chinese actress. She won the Best Main Actress award of the Vietnamese movie award 2007 named Cánh Diều Vàng. But that movie was even worse, nobody cares about it except professional people in the movie industry. So you will never find it on internet.

Here's "Ao Lua Ha Dong" for you guys:

ImageImage

Code: Select all

This is a link to a Megaupload Folder, download all parts from this folder, one by one, after finish downloading all of them, use Winrar to extract and join them (put all parts in the same folder, right click one of them, select "Extract here"). It's a 4GB DVD iso, so you're gonna need tool like Daemon Tool to watch the movie.

GiGi, I actually havent downloaded and watched this movie yet because of lacking of time. But I saw some good scenes of it on a presentation program and I think this movie is good compare to other Vietnamese movies. There's blood, bomb, war, and tears and they can make you moved. If you're curious then you should watch it but dont expect too much of it. Anyway, it's a big file and will take days to download so if you feel lazy, skip it.

@ih2try: Thank you for the info. I will pass. Viet movies kept digging into the past and in many instances, characters are mostly underdeveloped and usually 1 dimensional. I just wish they deal a little more with the present. In addition. I find it is difficult to relate anyway since I am so ....1.5 generation. Well, I rather spend my time watching anime instead. Thanks again. :D

I know there are places you can watch dubbed dramas online, and sometimes you can download them too, but the quality isn't very good. Here are a few sites:

forumphim.com
film4vn.us

Nếu bạn nào biết ở đâu có thể xem phim việt online rõ thì cho mọi người biết với nhé. Usually the dramas from clubbox are High Quality (700 mb) and very clear nhưng đa số là phim Hàn. I watch Viet dramas these days, but can't find anything online with clear quality. Thanks.

Happy New Year 2008!

Post by fimfim » Jan 4th, '08, 07:26

Happy New Year to everyone in the Viet Community!

Sharing with you all here in the Viet community a song I recently came across. It's called "Bonjour Vietnam":
http://www.rangdong.com/BonjourVietnam/ ... ietnam.swf

The song was written by a French artist (Mark Lavoine) and is sung by Quynh Anh, a Vietnamese-Belgian artist. I think that the song tells the story of how many of us feel.

* * *

Hello Vietnam

Tell me this name, strange and difficult to pronounce
That I have carried since my birth

Tell me the old empire and the feature of my slanted eyes
Describing me better than what you dare not say

I only know you from the war images
A Coppola movie, (and) the angry helicopters

Someday, I will go there, someday to say hello to your soul
Someday, I will go there, to say hello to you, Vietnam

Tell me my color, my hair and my small feet
That I have carried since my birth

Tell me your house, your street, tell me this unknown entity
The floating markets and the wooden sampans

I could only recognize my country from the war photos
A Coppola movie, (and) the helicopters in anger

Someday, I will go there, someday to say hello to your soul
Someday, I will go there, to say hello to you, Vietnam
The temples and the stone-carved Buddha statues for my fathers
The stooping women in the rice fields for my mothers

Praying in the light to see my brothers again
To touch my soul, my roots, my land...

Someday, I will go there, someday to say hello to your soul
Someday, I will go there, to say hello to you, Vietnam (twice)

+ + +

Following is a duet sung by Quynh Anh and Marc Lavoine. It's a French song called "J'espere."

Have a wonderful weekend!

Looks like it's been pretty quiet in here so let me post a message to breath some life back into our viet community.

So, I've been watching more viet dramas lately. It's interesting to see that there's good progress with the vietnamese film industry. Not perfect, but good progress and it's not entirely depressing like some K-dramas and of course, viet drama portrays more viet culture as it should. Sometimes though the story can drag and be really frustrating like many other non-viet dramas which I've watched. At the same time though it makes one want to stay with the drama and watch it to the end (the effect that watching drama gives you). Well that has been my experience with watching viet dramas. For all those interested in viet dramas, here's a link you may like: http://online.film4vn.us/Danhmuc.aspx?categoryId=15
