im sorry for having just registered and writing already a suggestion request as my first entry ever in this forum, even though i've been lurking discussions for some quite a time now.

Anyway im writing now because im a law student and a jdorama fan, and wanted to ask you guys -who surely have much more experiences than me- about law/legal drama subbed series, since im really interested in how japanese laws work.

yeah i know thats trying to know something off a dorama series is a kinda silly, but yea, i'd like at least to give it a try.

hope you can help!

Hi..
death note & code geass are masterpieces!! here are some recommendations:

Kimura Takuya's CHANGE: Human drama, politics.... great plot and cast!
Tantei Gakuen Q: Mystery... young cast but an outstanding plot..
and the currently airing's drama Orthros no Inu: Suspense, human drama ... forget about the low ratings! I just hope the end will be as good as its start though!

1. Full House
2. My Girl
3. My Name is Kim Sam Soon
4. Coffee Prince
.... just check out my site for more recommendations (click on image below)

for 1 Litre of Tears -- family tearjerker type right?
Engine
Jyoou no Kyoushitsu
Bara no nai Hanaya
Byakuyakou
Akai Ito

Bloody Monday
Change
Maou
Long Love Letter (Drifting Classroom Live Action)
... There going to be Liar Game 2 by the way!! Good news

But for dramas like Death Note is actually in Korean:

Story of A Man
All In
Resurrection / Revenge
Time of Dog & Wolf

and maybe IRIS (hasn't come out yet, but from the synopsis hopefully it's like that which is why I'm waiting for it)

Hi all~

I'm looking for some good food-related dramas, like Lunch Queen, Ando Natsu, and Osen. Subbed or raw is ok with me. I prefer shows that are more light-hearted and funny, not super-serious or dark.

Any recommendations?

Thanks! Mei-chan is a little immature for my taste, but I will check the Kdramas you recommended. I've heard quite a bit about I really really like you, so I guess it's time I watched it :thumleft:

Well for a guy Bambino is a nice food related dorama. What more do you want besides Sailor Venus and Karina? Oh, and it has MatsuJun and Uchida Yuki. I enjoyed it, and as I recall I finished it in a day, so I liked it, but I will watch anything with Komatsu Ayaka and Karina in it.

There's Ikemen Sobaya Tantei. It's about a good-looking Soba restaurant owner who solve crimes around his neighborhood. It stars Fujiki Naohito of Proposal Daisakusen and Hotaru no HIkari, Horiuchi Keiko, Furuta Arata of Yume Wo Kanaeru Zou, and Namase Katsuhisa of Gokusen series.

Hi~

I'd like to watch a new drama. Something similar to Liar Game, Maou or Mr.Brain would be nice. I'm already looking into Bloody Monday, also seems good! =)

Any drama that is really funny without concentrating too much on romance would also interest me..

Thanks in advance!

Just watched Proposal Daisakusen and it was AMAZING! I`m more kdrama lover but this one really got to me. This jdrama even competes with kdramas I`ve seen. Althrough the drama I was sad but at the same time happy and there were many scenes where you could laugh too. The ending was a little bit mysterios.

Definately recommend Proposal Daisakusen. Best jdrama I have ever seen.

Have you watched "Aishiteru"? I think this is better than Shiroi Haru, it's also about family problem, but more complex since it's involved murder case. The kids' acting are brilliant here.

And the most recent one in fall season, I think most people surprise with JIN which is involved historical drama and medical drama + time jump.

The first dorama I watched is Hana Yori Dango .... and that was sometimes in June, this year, so i'm a newbie

I recommend Koishite Akuma, the latest one I watched. I loved it! It is a comedy, romantic. It's a vampire love story.

Does anyone know any good dorama about musicians and classical music? I watched nodame cantabile and got so inspired that I started to play the piano again after 15 or so years. I also liked the k-dorama Beethoven virus.

^ some other suggestions that kinda sorta fit the criteria:

Junjou Kirari - story about a girl's relationship with jazz music prior to, during, and after WWII. another character is a classical pianist. unfortunately, not subbed, but damn good series.
Suna no Utsuwa - actually more of a mystery suspense, but deals with a classical pianist
Tokyo Friends - musicians, but not classical
101st Marriage Proposal - mmm... not really about musicians, but a piece by... Profokiev, if I remember correctly, plays a pretty prominant role to the plot... actually, i think asano asako's character is a cellist too... (dang, i can't believe i don't remember this)
Kaikyo wo Wataru Violin
Koinu no Waltz - extremely surreal murder mystery involving a classical piano academy

Hi, I'm looking for a nice drama to watch.(Kdrama or Jdrama)
I liked:
*Beethoven Virus-Maestro Kang was really great, I like this type:cold, distant,arrogant,intelligent,powerful,... 8)
*you're beautiful-cool guys, funny and light.
*kimi wa petto-funny :lol .
*hana yori dango-richness, romantic,lovely  , power, hatered mother-son.
*time between dog and wolf-i liked the idea, but too much implication from his girlfriend.
*bloody monday-I liked the biginning, but I didn't like that everybody began helping him and he became so powerless and even stupid, he was just manipulated.
*Mr.Brain-intelligent, interesting, not an ordinary guy.
Please give me your suggestions!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can try Trick. It is mainly based on solving puzzling mysteries, like what the title said. It has more humor than Liar game too, and there's chemistry between Nakama Yukie and Abe Hiroshi.

Hana Yori Dango is the best Jdrama imo. Any dramas with Jun Matsumoto are amazing.

I'm looking for high school related dramas with romance & comedy.

The only JDrama I've ever seen has been Hana Yori Dango.

Thanks for any replies. :)

Need some suggestions. I want teen drama(main characters may be early in 20's). It would be great if there would be some romance in it :)

thanks.

Christmas JDramas

Post by Chrono » Nov 28th, '09, 16:06

Hello guys!

I was sitting at my computer, looking for a new drama to watch, and I suddenly asked myself: Christmas is really near already, what about a Jdrama about Christmas or something like that? :-)

Last year I watched Last Christmas and Waraeru Koi wa Shitakunai (they're pretty good, by the way), but what about this year?

Someone knows a Jdrama like that? A Jdrama that is about, talks about, involves, is related with (even a little bit) Christmas?

I'm looking forward your suggestions. :w00t: Thanks a lot!

Well...this may not be exactly what you're looking for, but...

Nemureru Mori // A Sleeping Forest has its final climax take place on Christmas Eve. The actual episode aired on Dec. 24, so they make use of that and have everything in the preceding episodes spiral closer and closer to "that day"--Christmas/Christmas Eve (both in the story and in real life). It was interesting how they paralleled it.
(I mean, if the final episode airs on Dec. 24, why not?)

Anyway, Christmas/Christmas Eve plays an important (?) role in the plot.

It's kind of a dark drama (not Christmas cheery at all)...but it has its Christmas bits to it.

Ah, I just watched a bit of "Onegai Demon" on Veoh. It's a totally silly 1993 comedy about a bunch of supernatural beings--really like a live-action supernatural comedy (romance?) manga, or the Addams Family or something. I'm dying to watch a drama like that! I don't know that it was ever fansubbed, though. (Even though it's only 5 episodes... ;)) Anyway, it doesn't show up in the torrent search here.

Any suggestions for something like that, but that *is* available subbed? (I know about "Trick," but this is way wackier from the bit that I watched--gothic slapstick, basically.)

Thanks!

I need some suggestions for dramas about host/hostess.
I have already watched jyouou, teioh and yaoh!
I'm only looking for serious dramas, not something like happy boys.

Thanks in advance!

I checked out a bit of Onegai Demon, while I download the episodes for later. Looks silly and fun. Not too much that I can recommend in that genre, since there aren't as many shows in supernatural comedy--subbed or unsubbed. There are two subbed ones, two partially subbed ones, and one about to be subbed one that come to mind though:

Yume wo Kanaeru Zou - There's a series and an SP which precedes it. It's about the elephant God Ganesha being called upon by mortals to fix their lives. Instead he gives them strange sounding lessons, so that they can fix their lives themselves. Very silly, slapstick, and funny. It's fully subbed by Queerbeet.

Mirai Koshi Meguru - Meguru is a teacher from a psychic family, and when she comes of age she discovers that after eating she can see people's selves ten years into the future. Another funny series that is fully subbed.

Guren Onna - This one is only partially subbed by DoReMii, but it's mostly episodic so you could check out those 5 subbed eps. (DoReMii has direct downloads of those episodes on their site.) It's about a gloomy teacher at a girls' school who gets her fun by dressing as the ghost of a murdered woman and tracking the posts about the Guren Onna on her BBS. She begins to encounter real ghosts, and each episode deals with her trying to help the ghosts and humans around her. There are ongoing arcs about her love life and about the murder of the woman she dresses as.

Shiori to Shimiko no Kaiki Jikenbo - Only 3 episodes were subbed by I@F, but they are completely stand alone. The series is about two middle school girls who get involved in totally wacky and bizarre cases in their town. The full series was 13 episodes (around 22min each), but even in just the 3 that are subbed you get searching for corpses for fun, gigantic jealous wives, endless libraries, suicide restaurants where they'll help you off yourself, haunted books ... it's really a surreal little series with lots of supernatural characters.

One title to be on the watch for in the not so distant future is:

Boku no Mahou Tsukai - Sars has purchased the DVDs and is looking for subbers for this older series presently. It's about a lovey dovey couple whose lives are turned upside down after the wife has a bike accident and smacks heads with a famous memory specialist played by Furuta Aruta. Now whenever she tries hard to think, she physically turns into him...much to the horror of her husband. The husband quits his job to spend more time with her, and ends up working for a group who help people in the neighborhood--all the while trying to hide his wife's condition from them and her uber-protective, uber short daddy.

There is one other series I can think of that might work for you. Koishite Akuma was fully subbed by TimeLesSubs this summer. It's about a vampire boy who falls in love with his teacher. I haven't seen it myself so I don't know if it has the wacky or slapstick vibe to it, but Onegai Demon seems to have a similar premise in a romance between an akuma/demon and a human teacher. You could look into it and see if it fits for you.
