Hmm, it is not a big drama, but I like it. Another reason for poor rating could be doctor x in the same time slot
I don't think, Otto no Kanojo is this worse.
To be honest, I'm surprised Ando Lloyd did that well at all. I tuned into the first episode and couldn't even make it all the way through.
Kurokouchi, on the other hand, is pretty good. I enjoy how there is a nice, long story that is front and center in every episode. So I'm surprised it's ratings are down around ~9%.

I wouldn't read too much into tv ratings, most of what I like has mediocre ratings, and there's high rated stuff I find formulaic and unwatchable (like Kaseifu no Mita). Dokushin Kizoku, for example, was one of my favorites from Fall 2013 because it was such a homage to 80s and 90s nora ephron romantic comedies.charia-chan wrote:Interesting.
I don't think ratings are everything (I liked to many drama with really bad viewership ratings) but it's intriguing to see what Japanese people are watching.
I think of it like House of Cards, which is the most critically acclaimed tv series right now but isn't popular with the masses, while the highest rated show on US network tv is the bland and formula-driven NCIS. If you are like me, ratings aren't very useful information.

While we should never base our choice ENTIRELY on ratings, there are reasons why one drama is a hit, while another is a flop. Of course, you may not like high rated shows, while you may like low rated shows; so its impact on you may be limited. But ratings is everything as to whether the drama would get a sequel, or whether it would be cut short; and it also has a very big impact on the actors/actresses for their future work.
So no, the ratings is not for you to blindly follow for your choice of drama, but it is important information if you want to keep up to date with the TV Entertainment industry in Japan.

I am sorry to see that Watashi no Kirai na Tantei has such low ratings. I like this comedy and the interaction between Tamaki and Gouriki.
On the other hand I am glad to see that Ashita, Mama ga Inai is holding its own in the rating I think that Ashida Mana is such a great little actress. And I do not see a problem in how these children living in a Group Home are depicted as well as the adults around them.

Just like my opinion, I can't comprehend why Hanasaki is having this popularity, I watched 3 episodes, and I was fed up.avieamber wrote:Alice no Toge is underrated imho and Hanasaki Mai ga Damattenai is overrated.
