I recognized him from Nobuta and My Boss, My Hero too ^_^
Hi - just wondering, for those of you who speak Japanese OR those of you who don't speak Japanese but have still been watching the raws - have any of the 3-D boys used the name 'Yankumi' yet?
I've seen episodes 1 & 2 with subtitles, and have half-heartedly watched the raws of episodes 3, 4 and 5 (but not all the way through - just skipped ahead to see if Yankumi kicks anyone's butt). But in episodes 1 & 2 I realised that no-one has yet called her Yankumi.

Skip to the last bit on ep 3 when they're playing Rugby and you'll see that's where they decide to start calling her Yankumi.

Thank you! I really need to be more dedicated when watching the raws, but I get frustrated when all I can catch is the characters' names and 'minna-san' (which is said quite a lot, I find). Also, whatever the heck it is that Yankumi says as she's pulling her hair loose and taking her glasses off, before she's about to beat up a room full of guys (usually translated as "Me? I'm his homeroom teacher.") You know you're getting to a really good bit when she says that.

and somewhat freaked out in Tantei Gakuen Q!
but the first thing that came to my mind when i saw him in this drama...
was that his image/appearance/wutever you want to call it,
resembled alot like Kenpachi Zaraki from bleach! (sorry, used to be a huge anime fan)
it was the freakish looking hair that made me think so anyways...

His hair does resemble Kenpachi, kandysakura! But I think that guy is cuter! (sorry, didn't really know his name) Kenpachi had a fierce face. Lol lol.
It's such a pity that he doesn't really have huge roles for dramas he is acting in. ><

i remember while watching some of the dramas, i would always just call him Ryu,
but i have a habit of cutting ppl names as short as possible, so i checked!
Apparently he was in alot of dramas ive seen:
Nobuta wo produce, My Boss My Hero, Seito Shokun, Tantei Gakuen Q, Sensei wa Erai,
and now Gokusen 3!
... wait a sec... sensei wa erai... i dont remember seeing him in it AT ALL... hmm...

Hehe, she always says the same things these parts. It goes something like "Me?, I'm his homeroom teacher" -- "I'm warning you, If it's for my precious students, I won't go easy on you"

He was hilarious is MBMH. He was such a dummy, made me laugh quite a lot though.
and @ him looking like Kenpachi.

Whenever I've seen him he's just an extra classmate. Never does anything big and only has a few lines.

lol! comparing ryuya and haruma, ppl would think that their both in the same situation.
who would ever guess that haruma is the rising star, and ryuya is just a supporting actor. xP
too bad tho. i think he should get at least a bigger role in a drama.
even his kid brother had a major role in tantei gakuen Q.

i was just thinking, out of the 6 guys,
junta, haruma, hideo, and next week akito's story is going to be done.
usually the "main" lead's story is about 8 or 9, and akito's epi is epi 6...
which means the episodes in between takaki's epi would be
shohei's epi, then probably the epi where they discover yukie's identity.
does anyone remember how many epis this season is gonna have?

I was watching episode 3, and right at the end, when the preview for ep 4 was playing, I thought I saw the words 'Gokusen Spinoff' in Japanese text at the bottom of the screen. I'm only good for hiragana and katakana and not kanji, so I don't have a clue what the rest of it said - does anyone know? What the heck could they be planning to do with a spinoff?

I have to say, the Gokusen boys all dressed up at the group date was my favorite bit. Reminded me of when the first cast did it back in season 1.
Next ep; isn't anyones ep by the looks of it? I don't know why but it reminded me of the ep from season 1 where that kid was expelled and he tried to ruin the schools' Volleyball match. Maybe because Yankumi, in the preview was talking to a kid we haven't seen yet.
Well, looks to be a fun ep anyway~

About the special - is that supposed to be broadcast this year or next year? The date given seems to be the 30th of May, but since we've still got four more episodes to go, I'm thinking that means the 30th of May 2009. Does anyone know for sure?

Arashi (Matsumoto Jun included) and Yankumi (Nakama Yukie) will be the charity personalities for NTV's 24hr TV charity run.
Anybody ship Shin/Yankumi? *raises hands* . I'm expecting awkward Jun/Yukie interaction >DDDD. They were such a cute "rumored" couple and I miss Sawada Shin. Hopefully Matsumoto would oblige to a little bit Sawada reanactment.
btw.. does anyone have pictures (magz shots) of both Yukie & Matsujun together?
If Yukie's going to be in character, I really hope Matsujun is too (even for a brief time) as Shin. As for images, I don't have any but there must be some out there. I'm sure I saw a promo-type image featuring Matsujun under an umbrella and Yukie looking up at him, which was quite cute. Really wish he would come back...

Anyway, this is for all of you that watched Binbou Danshi, at the start when Kazama asked (to the school nurse and new teacher when they were practicing for their whatever cafe it was) how many customers there were, didn't it remind you of how he screwed up in the first episode of Binbou Danshi? xD Laughed out loud when he said it.

Two things that stand out for episode 7.
1. We are halfway through the series and theres no discovery by the students of Yankumis yakuza family. I thought it was gonna happen when the students spot the two guys at the maid cafe but it didnt.
2. Im sure this has been discussed before but why dont they students ask yankumi to teach them how to fight instead of math, which she isnt really great at to begin with? I mean this is the second time a student was about to get pulverized by a metal pole, which i guess is the weapon of choice since gokusen 2.

exactly! when i saw the maid cafe thing i was like, its gonna be this scene!
maybe they follow the two guys back to yukie's house... but no...
and the metal pole thing. funny you should say its the weapon of choice,
ive been wondering for the longest time. where do these ppl get those poles anyways.
its like they're lying around on the streets everywhere or something! xD

And theres always an empty warehouse where they have their fights....and instinctively yankumi can find them without any directions...
I think in the fourth series she needs to outfit each student with a GPS device like in battle royale so she can track them more easily

Movie would be great but hopefully they dont change things too much. I remember some bad drama to TV movies were GTO (even though the movie still had the lead guy from the drama, overall it kinda sucked), Densha otoko (lead actor and actress in the movie werent as convincing as the drama, and the otakus where not played well at all). Those are the main ones ive seen, havent seen the movie for Hero yet...

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing while watching the latest episode.
They really are leaving it late having the Gokusen boys find out about Yankumis family. I'm wondering if they find out at all at this rate. But something has to happen to have either Yankumi at the risk of being fired or the boys being expelled (like the past two Gokusen seasons) for an end to it. Unless they want to do it differently this time. I don't really want to see Yankumi fored again.

Unfortunately, Yankumi getting fired is one of the main reasons this drama exists in the first place. If she doesn't get fired, then it won't ring true. Despite the consistency and/or repetition when it comes to entertainment, Gokusen is making a huge statement about the educational system here in Japan. It's a system that doesn't protect students or teachers. This is one of the primary reasons Yankumi is female and from a Yakuza family. Most teachers would never ever be able to take this stance.The most amazing thing about Gokusen 1 and 2 is that Sawatari had the guts/balls to stand by her. To me, this is extraordinary. Of course, he's only gotten away with it because he's male and because of his father's position.
On the other hand, if something has changed in the system that will allow her to never be in danger of being fired, I'm all for it. I also want her to finally get Romeo, too!!! Not that doctor guy...Tetsu!! Or maybe Baba-sensei! I love them!
about how this drama is gonna end... my thoughts anyways...
i think if yukie does stay at the school, it just wont feel like a gokusen ending...
i know that seems kinda bad to hope that she'll get kicked out again, but with that seriously strict principal... i dont really think she has much of a chance...
but aside from what will happen to her,
i hope she'll finally end up with her soulmate or whatever!
i was a total shinXyankumi fan cuz of the manga, but im pretty sure shin wont be coming back for this drama. so next best thing is the doctor! fighto-oh~!

Didn't really like the story to this one - reminded me of Takeda's episode from season 2. But it was really enjoyable. Everyone thinking Yankumi was pregnant and we got to see Ami have the baby. I love it when they take the mickey out of Yankumi when it comes to love. The scene in the classroom at the start was so funny
It was an alright epi, not my favorite.
And they still haven't found out about Yankumi and her family yet, and looking at the preview I don't quite get what next weeks' episode is supposed to be about to be honest.
I'm still wondering how many episodes they're gonna' give us.

about shohei's epi...
to be honest i was slightly confused too...
i was guessing that it was either about shohei's mistrust in women,
or his lack of an ability to protect the women around him.
im guessing its the second one... because
1. he choose to not bother his mother, by pushing her away
2. when he tries to protect his date, he gets really annoyed that she ran away
3. when he saw kuma's wife, he tried to use violence to protect her, but kuma disaggreed, and apologized instead
4. when he gets pissed that no one understood him, he goes and finds the guy just to get beat up again, still determined to prove himself

Good guess...
He was annoyed when the girl ran away becuase he wasnt able to protect her and got his ass kicked by the other guy, who i think knew him and thought that he was weak as well
He got annoyed with his mom cause she kept apoligizing for his actions and he didnt want her to get in his way...
And he got annoyed at kuma because he apologized instead of using force...
At the end he started throwing punches at yankumi because he wanted her to teach him how to fight and become stronger...but instead her lesson was somethhing like you dont show strength through volence etc...
I also find it funny how the glorified child birth most likely to make it look cool to have kids so japan can reverse the current trend of not having kids...

Its only consist o 10 episodes only right?.. I wonder what happened last night ep, can anyone tell something a brief summary?... is it already found out about Yankumi's family ,matters?...
..I think 10 is not enough, need 2 special for to complete regarding her luvlife..

is anyone going to softsub gokusen 3? its taken sars a while to come out with the hardsubs, which is totally understandable and I commend them for even starting to sub the series in the first place since subbing is extremely difficult, but I know for zettai kareshi someone did a quick softsub by running the japanese subtitles through a text translator...I was just wondering if anyone was doing that for gokusen.

Yep, henna_sapporo is softsubbing it. Nice timing too, ep 1 subs have just been released~

Well just watched the latest eppie and here some info for you who are wondering what the story was about since there was no subs yet.
Basically five of the lesser known students try to get applications for a job and told that because they were from akagin, they basically had no chance but they can try if they want. So instead they basically join a local gang and basically distance themselves from the rest of the class to focus on their new friends. Meanwhile the others are working to figure out why a statue in their school keeps moving around and think it is a ghost but instead catch some theives and get an award. They have a confrontation with the five kids who have a joined a gang and they have a deep discussion with yankumi about what they should do. The five kids eventually find out that their new friends our not real friends after watching a fellow member get his ass kicked. The rest of the class confronts the five and they feel overwhelmed knowing that they made a mistake and their real friends are their to support them. The rest of the gang show up and as usual beat the hell out of the rest of the class and take the five back to the warehouse and beat the hell out of them. Yankumi shows up and beats up the gang and they run away. At the end they all make up and on to next week.
Now i dont think next weeks eppie 10 is the last because it focuses on one of the main students. So my guess is this season is goign 12 rounds,. Also still no revelation in regards to yankumis family....

I don't know if this is considered to be off-topic, but I was watching the episode 10 preview, and after that finished, there were promos for a couple of other dramas. One was 'Osen' - can anyone tell me what the other one was? It seemed to be called 'Hokagen' but I can't find any reference to this on the D-Addicts Wiki.
Episodes 8 and 9:
I just got round to watching these today - absolutely loved all the baby stuff in episode 8, as well as the sight of Kamiya hurling himself at Yankumi. For crying out loud, don't they get it yet? You can't beat Yankumi in a fight!
Episode 9 - Yankumi is on the board! I've been looking out for pictures of her around the classroom throughout the series, but this is the first time I've seen any - there's a pic of her on the board, winking, with 'Fight-o, oh!' written above. Cute!
Also, can anyone tell me which character episode 10 focuses on? I thought Ogata from the preview but since I can only look at the pictures and not understand a word they're saying, I thought I'd check.

Sounds like Ogatas parents want to take him out of school for some reason or another. Probably similar to previous seasons where the parents unexpectedly show up and try to withdrawl their kids from school after learning htey did something bad...

^ for epi 10, its probably gonna be something like the past 2 seasons.
the main guy is from a more "upper class" family, and through a series of events he stops going to school, but everyone wants him to stay... that kind of thing.

I've yet to watch Epi 5. Even tho' the plot is sort of repetitive, it's still amusing to watch. The random pop ups of Yankumi, Sawatari Goro and the sound effects. This season's cast is a bonus too. We've 2 boys who speak Kansai dialect :=)))
I just checked out the ratings on dramawiki. Epi 9 is at 17.6, a drop from the usual 20s ratings.

man, as repetitive as the series is each time around, i can't stop watching it! because i need subs, i just finished watching ep 6 last night (so i'm trying hard not to click on those little 'hide' buttons to read spoilers) and i have to say this episode cemented kuraki as my favorite of this season!! his expressions throughout so far already grabbed my attention, but this episode he had some of the cutest ones ever! i hope to see him in more dramas later on...

lol! i guess i kinda agree with you.
out of all the JE guys in this series, akito made the biggest impact on me.
takaki needs to work on his facial expressions (primarily his death stares),
and junta just doesnt have that big of a part even if he is one of the supporting roles.
judging by the JE success pattern through gokusen, im guessing that akito will probably be the one out of the three this season that will turn out to be as popular as Jun, or Kame (even though they were leads in the drama...)
now that i think about it, kame was pretty expressionless in season 2... wasnt he?
i dont really remember anymore... im going to make it my goal to reach all seasons after the exams! xD
