I hope Tomoko Yamaguchi does make a comeback to dramas again. I miss seeing her on dramas since her semi-retirement in 1996 (that would make it 10 years already and no, I don't feel that the 2004 drama that she wrote doesn't count as a return to acting ).

Okay, I'm all geeked up about the prospect of seeing Tomoko Yamaguchi in a new drama.

But I'm still puzzled (annoyed) that they are gonna make a sequel to "Double Kitchen" called "Triple Kitchen" and though they got most of the original cast to come back... Tomoko isn't in it!

Even more so now that I hear she's coming back to TV this year.

yup you're right...it's based from korean movie....

Taiyou no Uta is the only drama that was announced before knowing what the prospects of the movie would be.

They've named it the Final Trilogy of the "Jun Ai" (Pure Love) Genre!

1st being Sekai no Chuushin de Ai o Sakebu and 2nd being Ima Ai ni Yukimasu.

You read the kanji for someone's name wrong. Katou Shigeaki isn't in this drama, it's Katou Kouji from Gokuraku Tonbo. Kouji san is a geinin. And Shige's name is written this way 加藤成亮.

Oh, no wonder the title sounds so familiar to me when I first heard of it, now I see that it has a movie with Yui in it as well. I think you can see the English flash trailer of that movie here: http://www.shochikufilms.com/film/detai ... t_code=509 .

Well based on the trailer, I think it's gonna be quite interesting for a drama to depict the live of a young girl who can't get exposed to the sun or else she will die, though it's sort of funny that Sawajiri might end up dying again in this drama. Not that I'm complaining, Erika is a brilliant actress despite her young age.

Anways, the dramas for next season look soo appealing!!! HYD 2?? Now, that's some good stuff even when I'm not sure how they would be able to extend the story (and it seems like the drama is still in rumour state?). My boss my hero, Taiyou no Uta, Regatta are some that I'm interested in. It appears to me that the summer and fall season are always full of great drama, let's see if it's gonna be the same this season. Thanks for the list .

Don't worry. I seriously doubt a Yamada + Sawajiri dorama wouldn't be picked up, as both of them have a lot of fans in the English-speaking dorama community.

A little perspective... READING Japanese isn't nearly as easy as learning to understand it.

Most search engines (like Google and Yahoo!) have translation capability. Just don't expect a lot from them. But they can give you an idea of what's on the site and you quickly learn how to work with various tools to get a better sense of things. (They can also give you loads of laughs at what they spit out... use them long enough and you begin to know what certain phrases come out as and what they really mean.)

Google's translator (in English) is here.

Yahoo!Japan (I tend to prefer the Japanese version)... plug in the url and check 日⇒英 (Japanese to English... hopefully the kanji is retained in this message) and click on the button to the right of the URL box. On the second line are two options: the first retains the Japanese with translation below text, the second just gives the translation.

There's also always Babelfish, which doesn't do too badly for a free translator.

If you want just a block of text translated, another respectable translator is offered by Excite, also in Japanese. Click on the left hand text field to clear the text already there, copy/paste your text into the field, check the second option (again, 日⇒英), and click on the button beneath the options. Translation comes out in the right text field.

Want to convert kanji to romaji (or even hiragana)? The best I've found so far (and maybe others have found something better) is J-Talk kanji converter. You can't rely on it to give you accurate readings of names, however... names are a problem unto themselves... and there are plenty of kanji it still can't convert.

He can't read kanji, he can't do math, he can't pick out something to buy, he's never rode a train, he doesn't understand, he doesn't know, he's never seen them!

He can't become a fully mature Yakuza like this!
And so, he is determined to redo high school.

I'm really excited about what I'm reading! I've been watching more Kdramas this season, and I'm looking forward to swinging back towards japanese this summer. Shinohara Ryoko, Kimura Takuya in a Hero special, a new Densha special, Tamayama Tatsuji, Yamada Takayuki, Kame, Abe Hiroshi, and of course the My Boss, My Hero remake with Tomoya--I liked the movie and the sequel, so I'll be having lots of fun, I'm sure. Here's an update about the theme song for My Boss My Hero

Sanspo: June 30: TOKIO's new single is "Miyuki setsu" - vocalist Nagase reveals.
It was announced on the 29th that singer songwriter, Nakajima Miyuki (54) wrote the lyrics and music for TOKIO's new song "Sorafune" (set for August 23rd release). This was revealed at the production announcement of NTV's "My Boss My Hero" (starting July 8th, Saturdays 9pm) starring Nagase Tomoya (27) in Kawasaki. The theme song for the drama is the first time Nakajima has worked on a Johnny's artist's song.

Nagase, who will be singing solo for the first time on a TOKIO single, happily said, "I'm honored. It's a melody only Miyuki-san can make. And singing it, I think I understand the "Nakajima Miyuki style." It's been a real learning experience. In my mind, the visual and the music really link up and this is a song that I want to treasure."

The drama is a school growing-up comedy, inspired by a Korean movie of the same title.Nagase plays the lead role of a young yakuza boss who hides his identity and goes back to school. "I've played a lot of stupid roles and I've gained the confidence to not lose to anyone when it comes to stupid roles." The drama also stars, Tegoshi Yuya from NEWS, Tanaka Koki from KAT-TUN, Aragaki Yui, Murakawa Eri, Kashii Yu, etc.


Daily Sports: June 30: First time Collaboration, TOKIO moved, Miyuki satisfied

　It was known on the 29th that TOKIO colloborated for the first time with singer songwriter, Nakajima Miyuki (54) for their new song "Sorafune" (released on August 23rd). The song is the theme song for the new NTV drama "My Boss My Hero" (starting July 8th, Saturdays 9pm) starring TOKIO's Nagase Tomoya (27). This day there was a production announcement at a studio in Kawasaki.
　
　TOKIO has worked with Hotei Tomoyasu and Tsunku in the past, but this time they collaborated with Nakajima. The reason is TOKIO's record company asked Nakajima to do the new song. At first she was hesitant, but she asked to hear TOKIO's songs and after studying them carefully, she was satisfied. The song was completed and the collaboration was realized.
　
　The song Nakajima wrote is a medium number spelling out a unique melody line known as the "Miyuki phrase" with original Nakajima world lyrics like "Row this boat, row this boat with your hands." Nakajima said, "If you hear this, you will know what I want to convey" as she passed the song to TOKIO, who did not know about it. The members, after their astonishment, were immensely happy.
　
　Nagase said, "It had a unique feeling TOKIO hasn't had before. A melody only possible by Nakajima Miyuki-san. And recording it was a lot of fun. The drama and the contents are linked as well. I want to treasure it." with full astonishment and promising it to be a hit.
　
　The drama is a growing-up drama about the son of a yakuza boss (Nagase) hiding his identity to return to school and grow through meeting and bonding with different people. Tegoshi Yuya(18) of NEWS, as his high school classmate and Tanaka Koki(20) of KAT-TUN, as his yakuza younger brother, also star. Nagase, in his high school uniform said, "I've played a lot of idiots in the past, so I won't lose to anyone in an idiot role."




Does anyone know who this composer is? She sounds quite famous.

I hope all these shows are picked up....

I was wondering if you all could help me out.

About two weeks ago, I caught a dorama on TV Asahi (pretty sure)... and it was about an old lady (Yamada-baba) that lived above a convenience store. She had a crush on one of the store workers... and by some freak accident, she became young and pretty again ... until she came into contact with water... She later explained herself as being the daughter of the old lady upstairs and called herself "Barbara".

It seemed rather silly, light-hearted, and based off of a comic book.

Does anyone have any idea what this dorama is?

I caught it on 6/30 shortly before midnight. I was searching through all the japanese sites, and couldn't find any info on it anywhere...

Looks like I was able to dig it up; it was a 2 ep special Friday night drama based on the comic "Viva Yamada Barbara".

Thats different "Tokyo Tower". The one which Matsumoto Jun is a different is a movie
One which Matsumoto Jun act is http://www.tokyo-tower.jp/ which is different author and story is totally different. Kuroki Hitomi and Okada Junichi is acting in this movie. This is love story between Kuroki Hitomi and Okada Junichi.

The one which will be air by fujitv is by リリー・フランキー (riri Franckey) and the title is 東京タワー　オカンとボクと、時々、オトン　(Tokyo Tower Mum and me and sometimes dad)　which sold more than 160,000 books because many people say that it is wonderful you can cry alot so I think that story is really good.

Sometimes next year there will movie version of 東京タワー　オカンとボクと、時々、オトン and Odagiri Joe will be acting as "ボク"
I know it's same title CONFUSING!!!!

oo lolz yeah it's verri confusing and it's my first time to watch his movie well i saw matsujun in couple drama's but not movie haha anyway thnx for the link ^_^

Due to the actions of Yamamoto and his presence in Tokyo Tower, we may not be getting this series at all. It was cancelled i heard. Can anyone confirm?

Yeah I know, because of Yamamoto all the actors need to film it again!!!!! It might take till maybe next year but fujitv said that they will be defenetly air on TV at some point.
