i was thinking about ep4 today and i realised that something is not clear

You could use google image to find HYD wallpaper. That is where I got all my wallpaper from it's mostly pictures from the tv drama even some pics from the manga. In the episode preview, you can see she does NOT tell Kaede. Even when Kaede, I'm guessing, invites her to eat dinner and asks how she and Doumyouji's going, Shigeru replied "everything's going fine".
And she is not stupid. She knows Doumyouji will never look at her, but she pretends she doesn't realize that truth, because she doesn't want to lose her dignity.
She knows he wasn't having fun on the date, and she wasn't having fun either, but...what can they do? Their parents expect them to be getting along just fine. If Doumyouji wasn't going to play his part, then she has to play both parts so their parents won't interfere.
It's the curse of being born into powerful families.

LOL. I had the same reaction! I guess it's easy to forget that some people may not know especially when it seems to be everywhere to us.
Anyway regarding the whole Rui/Makino thing. I'll be clear first of all that I firmly love Makino with Tsukasa. As much as I like Rui, Makino and Rui are not meant for each other and I'm sure most of you can understand why.
To Makino, Rui is ultimately perfect, but her feelings for him are of great admiration and friendship rather than love. Her feelings for Tsukasa are beyond rationalization, even to herself, but we can't deny the fact that she loves him most. You can see it in here eyes and you can feel how much pain she is in each time she's around him.
Although Rui has expressed feelings for Makino, I can't help but think that it is largely because he has grown to love her in Shizuka's absence. She amuses him quite a bit and he admires her strength. In a way, she's very much like Shizuka in that they are both strong and independent. However, Rui is also able to see Makino's fragile side. He is able to do things to help her and feel needed--something he was unable to do for Shizuka. In a way, Makino is ideal for him, because she carries the qualities he likes most in Shizuka, but also doesn't treat him like a younger brother, but more as someone she relies on and admires.
He obviously love Shizuka most, but has come to terms with Shizuka's own feelings towards him. That is as far as I can understand from the drama. So, naturally Makino, for Rui is the logical choice. Rui never meant to be in the way of Tsukasa and Makino, but I think he's feelings towards her deepened each time he sees her in pain and Tsukasa unable to make a move. Maybe he feels obligated to care for her and pursuing a relationship with her seems to be the obvious next step. In the end, I still can't shake the feeling that his love (Rui) for Makino is largely a protective type of love and not romantic. He cares for her very much, but Tsukasa clearly loves her to the point of insanity.
Anyway those are just my two and a half cents. Hopefully no one flames me

MONEY isn't happiness!!! and that babaa of his mother is using that guys suicide in order to keep Doumyouji to keep on doing what SHE wants. How low is that?!?!?! She hasn't been a mother at all to him. Now he has to sacrifice his happiness, and the one he loves. It's still protecing the money what D's mom is doing. The company brought her money; therefore yeah she's protecting the company but with all the money that's involved with it, because that company has brought her wealth. I mean yeah protect what you got, but don't do it at other's people's expenses. Which is what D's mom is doing. That is why she's making him get married to Shigeru, to protect the company AND the money. She wants these two to get married so her company won't collapse and her end up broke. That is STILL protecting money. And D's mom from what i've seen doesn't want Makino for D because in her eyes she is poor. I bet if Makino were from a wealthy family she would happily accept Makino, but she's not. Money is what drives his mom from what I've seen so far. No one said that D's mom made the guy commit suicide, but she's using it against D to keep him away from Makino, the poor girl, because gawd forbid Mrs. Doumyouji going as broke as Makino lol. She doesn't seem like she cares about the employee's even tho she tells D to think about them; to me she only uses that against him to stop him from being with Makino and marrying Shigeru because her father is a wealthy man. D's mom is money driven. D is concerned for the people who work in the company, and is scared that if they lose their jobs the same thing will happen as with that guy who committed suicide, he feels awful about it. D wants to save the company for the employee's, his babaa mom wants to save the company to keep them from going BROKE. So yes she is protecting the money, and in a horrible way. And Doumyouji's mom didn't tell the guy to commit suicide. He did it on his will.
And Doumyouji's concerned about the company too. That's why he tells Shigeru, I'm going to save my company my own way. (everyone watched ep3 by now, right?)
However, he's not about to sacrifice the rest of his life for it, I guess.
The difference between Rui and Doumyouji is,
Rui has come to Makino whenever she needed a shoulder to cry on. He was kind, and she saw that. But, she also only saw him as a good friend...until episode 4.
On the other hand, Doumyouji is suffering too, yes, but he's not TELLING her what's going on, so she doesn't KNOW his suffering.
And remember that the story is told from Makino's perspective. Naturally Doumyouji gets underrated.
to the person who asked what Makino saw when she opened the door and asked "why?" at the very end of ep4...
