The movie version 'Nodame Cantabile Saishu Gakusho Zennen' opened in 409 theaters across Japan yesterday. In the lead roles of Chiaki Shinichi and Noda Megumi, Tamaki Hiroshi and Ueno Juri greeted fans along with a huge ensemble of cast members, including Wentz Eiji and Takenaka Naoto. When the cast appeared on stage, the audience gave them a standing ovation which lasted two minutes. The atmosphere inside the theatre was extremely lively.

Ueno first bowed to thank the crowd. Then she said, "I think it will be hard to come across an audience like this again." Tamaki once again commented on how difficult it was to film all the conducting scenes in the movie. He had to train very hard for it. Wentz joked that he was mesmerized by the intensity of Tamaki's performance.

The only one to appear in full costume was Takenaka. In his very exaggerated manner, he called out, "Chiaki, Nodame, it's so lively in here. Let's all have a group hug!" Then he started approaching Ueno, who quickly tried to move away. The movie will be released in Hong Kong and Taiwan in March, as well as other parts of Asia.

1st Nodame Film Gets HK, Singapore Opening Dates

The Eiga.com website reports that the first live-action Nodame Cantabile Saishū Gakushō (Nodame Cantabile: The Final Movement) film will open in Hong Kong and Macau on March 4, and in Singapore on March 11. The producers of the films based on Tomoko Ninomiya's Nodame Cantabile romantic comedy manga say they also received distribution offers from Korea, and they are making arrangments with distribution companies in Korea as well as other countries worldwide.

The original manga, the live-action version, and a separate anime version all center around two music students (Hiroshi Tamaki, Juri Ueno) who find themselves on parallel paths in Japan and later Europe. The first film opened on Saturday, and the second film will open on April 17. The main manga just ended on October 10, although Kodansha's biweekly Kiss magazine launched a side story manga in the 24th issue this month. The final television anime series will premiere in January.

Most, if not all, legitimate J-Drama releases from Japan have NO English subtitles... A cruel fact of life.

I was just about to ask the same, for such an essential drama it would be a shame if someone did not translate the new scenes.

As most of the scenes are old, if siantut would give permission to use his subs only the new scenes would need translating, that would be less work for whoever would be up for the task

Haven't heard anything about that, though someone did re-time the first season to sync up with the HD video...
