Because, at least for me, it's still totally cartoony--the sound effects, the special effects, the ridiculous wigs and makeup. It's completely unrealistic. (Thank goodness they didn't play it straight.) Over-the-top screwball slapstick comedy, a cartoon come to life--like Stephen Chow movies or something.
But ultimately, you might as well ask why you didn't like it. Just different taste. Right?

Why would the manga and anime be acceptable and not the live action?Sajen16 wrote:I have a question, Why do people like this? sure I love Juri and Eita I also love the manga and anime but watching real people act that way makes me feel retarded for watching it, I don't mean to be insulting I just seriously want to know why people like it.
The manga and anime are representations of real people, not robots or talking animals, so it seems contradictory to like those two and not the live action version...
Besides, the slapstick comedy is only the first layer of the drama... There's much more to this drama than just that.

I think part of it is my western mentality that, as hard as I try I can't completely get over, anime and manga are just cartoons and comics and so ridiculous over the top actions are expected not so when real people come into play, I know that there is more than the silliness I just have trouble seeing past it

Well I was born, raised, and am living in SoCal, but I don't have that "Western Mentality."Sajen16 wrote:I think part of it is my western mentality that, as hard as I try I can't completely get over, anime and manga are just cartoons and comics and so ridiculous over the top actions are expected not so when real people come into play, I know that there is more than the silliness I just have trouble seeing past itWhy would the manga and anime be acceptable and not the live action?

I suppose it comes down to how free-thinking or open-minded you are about the material.
Wow, these look awesome! Does this contain the two final score movies? I really wonder about the bathtub deleted scene I read somewhere. Wish I could find it somewhere.bmwracer wrote:Yatta!
I got my Noda Megumi DVD in the mail today...!
I'd like to one day get the official version, that is, once I polish my Japanese to the point where I can watch it without subs

No, it's more behind-the-scenes stuff... The evolving of the character and whatnot.littlesev wrote:Wow, these look awesome! Does this contain the two final score movies? I really wonder about the bathtub deleted scene I read somewhere. Wish I could find it somewhere.bmwracer wrote:Yatta!

The deleted bathtub scene was in the deleted scenes section of the Movie 1 disc set.
I have the Season 1 box set, but my understanding of nihon-go is minimal at best...I'd like to one day get the official version, that is, once I polish my Japanese to the point where I can watch it without subs
But if you've watched it enough times (like me), you'll have the dialog pretty much memorized.
Icic. I'll check it out then, thanks!bmwracer wrote: No, it's more behind-the-scenes stuff... The evolving of the character and whatnot.

Actually I'm taking Introductory Japanese course right now. You can say that watching unsubbed j-dramas is part of my motivation to study hardI have the Season 1 box set, but my understanding of nihon-go is minimal at best...

Soft subs
Anybody know where I can download the softsubs for this? I know Siantut did put one out and it was on S-Projects, but alas, I forgot to check back and S-Projects is no longer there and I can't find it anywhere else. I've had the movie on my computer for over a year now and would love to watch it.

The subs are synched up to the 704x396 version, not sure about the others (720p, 1080p).
Hope this helps!

Sad to say, but I don't think Juri-chan has been able to top that iconic role.

Hey, I love this drama. I've had such a trouble finding English subbed version of the series though! Does anyone have any info on where to get the whole lot?

Does anyone know where just the subs are? Not a huge fan of hard-subs.
