Well, so far HYD 2 seems to be the only one I'm interested in. Oh there was supposed to be one with Yamapi and Shun, about three guys in Tokyo or something, remember?

Here's another one... :)

Edit: Oh. You placed it in this season's topic. Never mind then. xD

I'm not sure if HYD2 is going to be 15 episodes or not because Arashi @ Vox.com says twelve...

I'm particularly interested in Amami Yuki's new drama, considering it's the same scriptwriter from the Queen's Classroom, makes me anticipate it more..

Could you add a line about the plot as you learn about them? I'm the kinda fan who cares more about the story than the cast. ;) Genre would be nice too, think I've had enough of slapstick comedies and teen romances this year . .

There won't be that many teen romances this season since there're many established names appearing.

Maybe it's because in Densha Otoko she's pretty much playing herself?! lol. I personally thought she was bland in Sapuri, and almost inexistant in Tiger & Dragon - overshadowed all the other hilarious characters...

Anyway, there is quite a lot of dramas I'd like to try watching this season... Thanks for everyone who's posting information! I'm a bit lazy to check the Japanese websites for every one of them... :)

EDIT: yes, the NHK taiga drama with Gackt has good chances of being the bad casting of the century :D

Just to clarify, HAPPY 2 is just a single episode (and is a sequel to HAPPY, which aired in April).

Also, here's more info about the dramas/specials this winter:

Wish I could say the same :-( None of winter dramas caught my fancy so far. Guess I'll have to feed my addiction with after-midnight (Cupid no Itazura did shoot up into my top 3 list right out of the starting gate, so there's hope here :-)) and tokusatsu shows (quite a few actors from my other fandom will be making an appearence).

Nah, it will have to beat Yoshitsune for this particular crown. And since the latter featured miscast and misdirected JE boys and dullest actors in Japan, it's going to be a hard feat to pull.

Belated thanks to raven_frost for typing all the plot lines out! From story alone, the ones I'm looking forward to are Enka no Joou, Warui Yatsura, Himitsu no Hanazono and Tokyo Tower (huh, I thought this was about an older woman/younger man romance like I heard the movie was?)

Most excited about Enka no Joou. I hate enka, but I'm hoping this drama will enlighten me and help me appreciate it more.

Thank you for posting this list.
Here, we are a family affair, so kids included, and I've gone through the list one by one, and the family oriented dramas seem to be:

Kirakira Kenshui
Hana yori Dango
Haken no Hinkaku (about food)
Furin Kazan (Taiga Drama?)

I don't know if I'd really call Haken no Hinkaku a family-oriented drama, since it's mostly about people dealing with issues in the workplace.

You might also want to look into "Asakusa Fukumaru Ryokan," though I doubt anyone will sub it. Same thing with "Kippari!"

kidzmigz, thanks for your reply. I will look into those two dramas as well.
My kids sat still for Teppan Shoujou, as well as the Happy 2 special.
They're silly dramas, but I'm glad to have a new mix, away from anime.
We do not need subs, RAW is ok.
Thanks again for your ideas.

The movie is based on a best-selling book by Ekuni Kaori and this drama (and the SP) was based on the best-selling book by Lilly Frankie.

The ones I'm most looking forward to watch: Hanazori no Himitsu, the Ryoko Shinohara drama and Enka no Jyoou.

Aah... A lot of good dramas are playing in the beginning of the year. It makes me wonder what they will play later this year.

Anyway, Puzzle wasn't on the list... would it be uploaded?

Maison Ikkoku with Misaki Itoh as Kyoko?! Talk about horrible casting choice...
Wish they got Takeuchi Yuuko instead.

1. ハケンの品格 (Haken No Hinkaku)<<<<

I love Shinohara Ryoko but the reason I left Japan was because of crazy overtime and I do NOT want to be reminded of that lifestyle! :)
