taiyou no uta. which one is better the drama or the movie
hi, i'm watching taiyou no uta drama and i was comparing between the drama and the movie. So i wanted to know what others think about this topic and justify why do you think that way. I don't really like the storyline of the drama although it have lots of great actor. But i really like the storyline of the movie and i cried everytime i watched it. i don't think that yui was that good in acting although she was so cute.
hoping to hear from others. CHEERS

THE MOVIEEEE ALL THE WAY !!!!!
Sry, I'm overeacting I'm not saying this b/c I love YUi and dun like Erika. I won't mention anything about her debut as Kaoru Amane, b/c Taiyou No Uta is also YUI's debut as actress. It's not fair to compare their singings or actings.
I could have said sth like this somewhere
Drama spoilers:
As for YUI, she was freaking cute in this movie, (Erika's cute too but more on the sexy side) I just love the way she sits on the ground with her guitar's case in front of her and the candle and......awww , unlikely the drama, Kaoru burns the CDs out and sold them, It's nothing wrong about it but, I just dun like it. My fav part was the scene when YUI sings "Skyline" and a band came and rock in. In the drama, I have to say that the chance for that much ppl come to her performance by spreading flyers is almost impossible. If it were me, I wouldn't come to a show which I didn't know if good or not just b/c of a flyer. I usually just throw them away right the moment they got in my hands.

definitely the movie. first of all i love yui and second i don't like yamada takayuki. i think the drama shouldn't have been made in the first place. i enoyed watching the movie a lot, yui and takashi tsukamoto did a great job. the song goodbye days was perfect for the movie. as for sawajiri erika, i've seen her in 1 litre of tears and i thought her acting was superb but i wouldn't watch her in taiyou no uta... probably in another drama where her role wouldn't involve... .
The movie, for sure. I actually like the "character" songs of both of them. Just as Yui did a did surprisingly decent job with her acting, I think Erika did a nice job with her singing (playing the guitar convincingly was another story). I can (and have) listened to both all evening!
But I think the acting was more important and I think Yui's inexperience actually helped her. It was almost as if the role were written for her so it was easy to imagine her as an earnest, isolated, and uncertain young teenager. My fave part where she babbles on anxiously to Takashi at the train tracks is priceless (sweet, heart-breaking and funny all at the same time) and a spot on peformance.
Erika is reaching a certain notoriety in j-dramas and superstar popularity so it's difficult to separate that identity from her character in the show and it's difficult to sympathize with her as a "naturally simple, anxious teenager". She does her best though. Plus we kinda saw her do the same thing in 1 litre of tears and I'm not quite sure why she would do another similar role.
The drama is also a bit stretched out. BTW, I saw the movie before the drama. I wonder if anyone had seen the drama first and if that may influence people's reaction?

I didn't really like both. I like drama better though, but I didn't care when she died...haha. I wouldn't watch either again. I like Erika better though...more cute and natural. The other girl...her voice was too childish. Both have great soundtracks, but I really love "stay with me". Don't intend to watch again, but i'll listen to "stay with me" forever.
I would have to say the movie ... there are several reasons for this:
1. Probably because I watched the movie first and I immediately love it.
2. Erika is cute but I think the character in the movie suits Yui better. She looks more innocent and more lonely so much so that I actually feel like hugging her
3. The guy in the drama ... he looks old man!!! Haha ... maybe it's just my opinion but Takashi is just awesome in the movie. And I agree with snoopypal, the scene at the train track when Takashi kissed Yui was just priceless ...
4. It is so obvious that Erika can't play guitar and it kinda distracts me ... especially seeing her strumming the guitar at the wrong place!!! Man ... the maker of the drama should really teach her how to act playing a guitar ...
Reason number 4 is probably the biggest reason for me not really liking the drama ...

HA! I think you're way too picky here. It's hard enough to try to make it as an actor. I think she actually sang in this one. To have her play the guitar is just too much requirements. If u put too much focus on it, it'll just bother you no matter what.

well for people who dont know how to play the guitar... she looked really good playing it ! hahahah. i really loved the cast for the drama... but when i was trying to watch it... it was boring for me ! >< i really love erika's singing too. her voice is very unique and everything about her :]

Ah ... maybe you're right ... But actually no one will know that she can't play the guitar if she strums higher, near the sound hole, instead of down near the bridge ... Didn't mean to offend any of Erika's fans when I wrote my post .goygakgoy wrote:HA! I think you're way too picky here. It's hard enough to try to make it as an actor. I've watch both the Drama and Movie and my thought was that the storyline for the drama was much better, maybe because of the extra time given for each character to show more.
Erika did a god job in the drama too with Yamada, I think both their acting was equally good enough to make me want to watch the drama a second time.
Yui did a good job in the movie, but in my opinion the movie was too fast to even develope the relationship between Yui and Takashi.
As for the song Good-bye Days vs Taiyou no Uta
I've enjoy listening to both song, but in the end I would prefer taiyou no uta because I love the lyric =)

I've only seen the movie. I felt it was great because I get to see YUI act as the lead and I love her songs.
What I didn't like about the drama, though i didn't watch it, is that it has Yamada again acting as the male who loves a girl with some disease of a sort whom is played by Erika who is again acting in as a disease girl.
I rather not see actors and actresses play some role more then once......unless if it is for a sequel of some drama, then thats ok.

EXACTLY my number one reason for not watching the drama as well!!! plus, I just love the chemistry between YUI and Takashi so much that I don't want to spoil it by watching the drama..K.T.Tran wrote:What I didn't like about the drama, though i didn't watch it, is that it has Yamada again acting as the male who loves a girl with some disease of a sort whom is played by Erika who is again acting in as a disease girl.
