The streaming videos have been taken offline. There's some on addicts that's subbed.Yorokobi wrote:boy i had a few pages to catch up on
looks like lots of people didnt enjoy this episode to much. I can understand where you are coming from in terms of it seeming like a filler episode but i still enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next episode as much as ever.

maki news!!!
taken from tokyograph.com: Following up on its research about summer fashion, Oricon conducted a survey to see which celebrity hairstyles people want to copy this summer.
Among women, the number one answer was Maki Horikita, who has adopted a short, boyish look for her role in the "Hanazakari no Kimitachi e" drama series. Second choice was Kumi Koda, followed by Yuri Ebihara, Masami Nagasawa, and Namie Amuro.
Meanwhile, men are trying to take after the "fresh" look of Satoshi Tsumabuki. He was favored over even Takuya Kimura, who ranked second. Hiroshi Tamaki and Joe Odagiri tied for third, with Masaharu Fukuyama ending up at #5.
...cool ne? congratulations pori-chan!

Kagurazaka Makoto (the rival) had short hair in the manga. Similar to Tennouji's hairstyle.

Well, could possibly somebody translate this preview of Ep 6 as I do not speak japanese ?
Many thanks in advance:

As I am not japanese speaker, I cannot hear which accent it is ans say this person is speaking like in osaka or like in tokyo.
This is just for my general knowledge and just to know if the drama is well adapted...
sorry if my question seemed stupid

I hear they chose Toma for Nakatsu because Toma is good at soccer,
but I don't know if it is the reason....
I have never read the manga so it doesn't matter of me at all, but I am sure those who love Manga hate this fact...
I think Toma has been doing really great job!!!! so I hope you still like Toma/Nakatsu!!!

Whoever posted those "ghost-guy" pics is awesome.
Serious. Yamamoto Yusuke is growing on me.
HE'S MY FAVORITE CHARACTER NOW .
Lolololo. Dang, anyway, you guys like posted an extra 10 pages while I went through my facebook phase lmfao .
Lots of different opinions, from what I read :p.
For me, it's like this:
If they don't have the ball scene in this season, or the second [?]...
I will shank them to pieces.
I WANT TO SEE SANO TOTALLY DAZZLED BY MIZUKI!

"Ashiya Mizuki (Horikita Maki), after the stay on the beach house, returns to the dorm with Nakatsu Shuichi (Ikuta Toma) and the other students. Sano Izumi (Oguri Shun), participating in in the summer camp , was quickly getting back to Mizuki. Mizuki, who went from the beach house to Sano's summer camp, was involved in her own thoughts after watching Sano's last jump. She didn't find any fear in Sano.
At that time, Sano couldn't make the jump yet, but was devoting himself to practice. It is that Sano photographer Hara Akira (Konno Mahiru) aims for. With this, until here, Kagurazaka Makoto (Shirota Yuu) just listened but didnt care when it was said [your manner of stepping is bad]. This is an always undecided attitude, but in Sano the heart becomes a single word.
At such occasion, Mizuki parents arrive from America. On the sudden and also unexpected visit they are having a nice time, like they haven't had for a while, until Nakatsu calls. Over dinner, not being able to refuse, Mizuki promises to return to her mother while going to meet Nakatsu who awaits her. But at the location, who was there, was Sano...
Hahahahaha! Asking for lovey-dovey scenes, you must be delusional. Based on the past episodes, I don't see any inkling of a romantic relationship developing between Sano and Ashiya. Ashiya - female stalker disguised as a boy ---that's scary. Sano - choker. Both are LOSERS. Just keep on watching the Coffee Prince - it abounds with filler scenes. Maybe these will fill the gap between your ears.sp4078 wrote:Exactly !!! I am getting annoyed by those meaningless scenes, the comic/humor scene became too exxagrated . Sano-Ashiya is developing a bit, but none of them in this epi (actually in manga, they are always together) and it's 5th epi already, only 5 left, how are they going to show us some lovey-dovey scene ? I really want to see Maki in romantic scene for ONCE. In Nobuta, mainly friendship, In Kurosagi, they weren't even hug once. . BTW, I want Shun to break the cool-cold-shell and be madly in love. God, I am tired of his image.Nomanymore wrote:
Sano once said that high jump is his life & u see clearly from the 1st episodes that how he is when he doesn't do it. As Mizuki said, he's loosinghimself day after day & one day he'll 'die'... I think the script writers want to show us how determined Sano is & how it is important high jump for someone as Sano. It's sthing we dun't see in the manga or either in any other vers. & I find it quite courageous from their part. They're trying to show us a solitary, quite, & mature Sano, a character with more depth than just a guy who luves high jump ,who appears as a 'hero' who protects the 'heroine' who's a fangirl of his.. blah, me personally I'm not really for such cliche scenario that could have both my parents' ages
On the other hand I must agree on that, eps 5 had so many unnecessary scenes, I mean all those beach, contest, girl s in bikini are just so random.. I prefer they reserve more time for those scenes like Nanba & his 1st love, Nanba & Nakao, Nakao & Mizuki, Mizuki & Nakatsu talking rather than those meaningless contests ! Plus where's Sano & Mizuki ?? this would be the big 'crash down' of Hana Kimi, cuz the scrip writers seem to neglect the main protagonist couple too much. They spend their time on inventing new stories, new contest, new gag/comic/humour w/o realizing that fans are groaning out there, esp Sano & Mizuki manga fans.. I can say what we all need now is that those 2 have some develops in their relationship/feeling, not mention about those doki doki scenes that were supposed to be there..
Up to this point, I'm kinda hopeless, looks like Maki's age is not allowed to have any 'romantic' scene in drama (?) or that this serie is reserved for kids only ??
Anyway, in the rest of the drama, they better do sthing about it otherwise everyone will be disappointed.
I'm no longer eager for next episode. My heart went all the way to Coffee Prince.

i hated nakao frm the beginning in the drama coz he's so ugly but after he put the hairband on, he looks nice!
hmm, well, hope that toma can at least speak a lil kansai in the drama. (STILL LOVES HIM NEVERTHELESS!!) haha
By the way, does learning japanese takes a lot of time and is it hard? I wanna study it next year so i'm asking your suggestions..
P/S: Sano bumped into ashiya and nakatsu and that's why he's pissed?

For those of you who wonder how Kagurazaka looks in manga mode, just click here.
As for the Sano/Mizuki pairing...have you read the manga? Of course they're a pairing! One of the sweeter pairings too.
And in regards to Nakatsu...
I agree that Episode 5 seems like filler, but I think the emotional parts (Nanba and Sano scenes) won me over. I just hope they stop with the contests.
EDIT: Oh! And I watched the entire Taiwanese series, so I'd be glad to hop over to that thread and make comparisons

Wow, I thought all those contest scenes were so funny, specially the sumo one... of course everything is over the top, thats why it is funnier In every epi there has been these kind of scenes going on, dunno why epi 5 is any different... Think they use them to remind people that the boys are still young and besides the seriousness of some topics (romance, gayness, whatever), boys are still boys, they are reckless and are still learning... It also shows what Mizuki got herself into by living in a boys dorm, she is not with Sano all the time, so their relationship is growing slowly.Nomanymore wrote:On the other hand I must agree on that, eps 5 had so many unnecessary scenes, I mean all those beach, contest, girl s in bikini are just so random.. About Nanba & Nakao, Nakao & Mizuki developments, found those nice as well. Cant say the same about Nanba and his 1st love, for me those were kind of boring moments, I dont care if Nanba can be a serious guy, it is not that important for his role in the drama and it doest make a difference...
@xsakaiie
Yeah, Sano knows Mizuki is a girl from when he misheard Mizukis conversation with her brother
Okay, everyone complaining about the "pointless contests" is really starting to bother me.
Do none of you read the manga? And for those that do, do you not remember how many contests there were in that thing? It was 23 volumes long for a reason, you know.
I'm sorry that you all feel they are unneccessary, but if you look at the manga and notice how much of it is filler (and bonus chapters, bonus stories that didn't even include the main characters, etc) then you know WHY all the contests are there.
I honestly really like how they're translating this series from manga to live action. And the episode where Mizuki's brother shows up had enough non-filler scenes to last a lifetime.
Deal with the filler. If you're going to complain about the show, or parts of the show, then don't watch it
EDIT: Though, I do have to say, the whole St. Blossom's thing is too much for me. Now THAT is extremely unneccessary.

Serious. Yamamoto Yusuke is growing on me.
HE'S MY FAVORITE CHARACTER NOW .
Well, sano has closed himself off for 2 years, you can't expect him to just outright jump out and become outgoing. Also, he's not the type of person who falls in love with just ANY girl. There's tons of girls after Sano, he's just not interested. Just because Mizuki is a girl doesn't mean he's gonna go love sick over her. Sano's the slow type that needs to build up the relationship.feeling wrote: Hahahahaha! Maybe these will fill the gap between your ears.
As for coffee prince, I am watching it now. I don't think its as good as hanakimi though. Hana kimi made me laugh in every episode but coffee prince is more dramatic. Actually I can't even understand why the guys would like her. She's a tom boy. She doesn't carry any aspect of a girl and she eats very gross. I don't think its very believable for 2 hot guys to fall for her.
But Mizuki, you can kinda tell she's a girl. Mizuki has a heart shape face which male don't usually have. Also she's too cute to be a guy and she sometimes acts like a girl (forgetting she's suppose to be a guy). Like when she hops around in glee when she heard sano called. When she stirs the okonomiyaki bowl. She stirs and holds the spoon like a girl and on top of that, she's so short. Course...so is Nakao, but Nakao is abit taller by 2"
About Toma having no Kansai accent. I don't think its an important issue. It would be nice if he did, but its not a big issue. Most importantly is Toma acted well as Nakatsu.
Okay, I dont know if u also mean me on your post, but i was actually NOT complaining about the pointless contests... quite the opposite... just wanna clear that up Also, Im enjoying the show even though I havent read the manga yet.Ayannah wrote:Okay, everyone complaining about the "pointless contests" is really starting to bother me.

About ghostboy, have u people seen ghostboy's father? this is probably , but I started to watch "Himitsu no Hanazono" now, and was so surprised to see him there as well, and to recognize him!! A nice surprise though

And Ghostboy's father is AWESOME.
I luff you. He just finished performing in As You Like It, and I guess he's preparing for another play that will be showing during the second half of HK (could someone confirm this for me? My Japanese comprehension skills are non-existent), and when you factor in travel, rehearsal times, his time on the Hana Kimi set is probably more limited. The scriptwriter and staff all have to consider that and work around his other commitments.
I mean, yes, episode 5 was lighter than air in the plot device department - but
UHG. I love the contests, OKAY? I watch it for the CRACK, so I can laugh as hardcore as I can before I pass out from it. If you don't want it then it's all mine and you can't have any, you ungrateful people who shun Awesome Mindless Fun. xD

I just want to be fair while giving judgment on a drama. I love this drama, really, if someone knows me here must recognize how crazy fangirl I am, esp when I fall head over for Maki chan ..
So dun't make it sound like I'm a hater when I'm saying sthing I dun't like about the serie !!
I like the cracks, the comic, funny moments in a drama, but it has limit. 5 episodes already ,& I still dun't get to see what I want to see, or in other words the feelings I have when I was reading the manga. I'm not shameful or watever to say that I want some develops in Sano & Mizuki becuz it's what the whole Hana Kimi about, not the contest between the dorms, right ??
As I said, everything should have a limit, fans may enjoy it at 1st becuz it's funny, but soon later if it continues in the same track, I'm not sure if Hana Kimi could attract much fans as the debut.
well, watever, up to now Hana Kimi is still my fav drama this season, no doubt.

Hey, don't feed the trolls on the thread. They're just taking easy potshots. And Laer, I'm a girl, so that would mean I'd be your babymommy. Heee.
Man, that Ikuta Toma - I like the fellow, but sometimes, *shakes fist* (if you google for ikuta toma's jweb translations, you'll know what I mean, I can't post the url) he teases TERRIBLY with vague spoilers for Hana Kimi and doesn't follow through! I mean, I know, he can't, but...aaagggh, I want to know what happens next! And apparently, Shun *is* doing some thing in Osaka, because Toma mentioned how he wouldn't be seeing him for some time, so who knows what that'll mean for HK?
And though I've been trying to stay away from comparisons of any kind (I have read the manga, watched the TW version), it's true that the J-version is keeping essentially true to the spirit of the manga, which was was full of competitions and filler stories (one volume had the second half devoted to the story of Umeda-sensei's first boyfriend!) and that the entire 23 vol. series spanned I believe only 1 school year (or was it 2? whatever it was, it was ridiculously short) at Ohsaka Gakuen, and things developed really slowly - like you would have to wait for three or four volumes until you found out what happened in a story arc.

Nomanymore, the hater comment was towards the user feeling. 8D I'm still having some exasperation towards people not liking the silly contests and making such a big deal out of it. I've long expected the romance as having a more underlying theme. The comedy is what draws people to watch it, so it does take up more screentime than the SanoxMizuki stuff. For now I'm happy to sit back and watch an indulgent amount of shirtless guys prance across my computer screen as I wait for the romantic bomb to drop. There's not doubt in my mind that it's coming so I'll just have to be patient.
And it's not like episode 5 was devoid of any SanoxMizuki elements. :B I was bowled over at that bit with Sano's phone conversation with Io. Was. Totally. SQUEALING. At that! Io saying how she thought Sano was extraordinary because of what Mizuki was willing to do for him had him embarrassed! Mizuki wasn't even in the vicinity! Oh God, I love me an indirect OTP moment. That alone has me going for a bit longer.
silentblvd: I'll get a sex change then? o_o xD

lol, maybe some people are used to korean drama, where the boy and girl occupied 99.9999999999% of the scenes and in korean drama, the rest seems to be sh*t (don't misunderstand me, I still love to watch kdrama once in a while ) Jdrama focus on other stuff too and what a good thing
About the contest, NO ONE can tell me they didn't find it ''sweet'' when the leader of Dorm 1 brought the old nanny and how he got so beat up badly and 5 sec. later, he's all oh-so handsome (nahh, he's not my taste) !
I wouldn't mind those funny moments, I was just hoping there were actually few more sano/mizuki scene in specifically episode 5...

I thought the ainori was the couple contest in ep4? From the description someone wrote, I understood Ainori to be like a variety/reality show where they pick some people to try and find a partner, like guy tries to hook up with a girl. If they end up dating, they share those biscuit sticks. And sometimes the coupling end up in marriage. And it's suppose to be touching sometimes. Some girl was crying when the guy left back to Japan or something.hamstaball wrote:seirin the ainori parody IS in episode 5!Contests are love and hate. there was ainori stuff in episode 4, but during the entire bath scene in episode 5
Very cute, Fuji-TV, and in that vein, I think the 'i have great character' shirt mostly is because ProDai was a Fuji TV production too, and I'm sure the warddrobe department overlaps. But the fact that Toma and Pi are friends, it makes an extra special injoke, considering that shirt also appeared in Prodai's 5th episode.

the ainori show is like they put single people together in a bus while on a trip to many exotic/rare places. basically they go through the experience together and hopefully they will become a couple. and usually you have more than one guy/girl going after the other pretty confusing just like w/ sano/mizuki/nakatsuseirin wrote:I thought the ainori was the couple contest in ep4?
