didn't koyuki kiss tomoya nagase in IWGP? although from memory it was boring/cold, i hated her character and i didn't care, but it was there

Go to youtube.com and you'll see plenty of japanese girls making out kissing, exchanging saliva and stuff. They are good. They just need to do the same for the Japanese TV dramas. I swear, all the world will bring attention and the j-dramas will be more popular. Lots of tonque kissing and exchanging saliva is definitely needed. :-)

I bet you are overjoyed that found another thread to bash jdramas now that your previous one got locked by the mod.

I merely posted a suggestion. It's for ways to improve j-dramas and make them more popular. I didn't say anything bad about the J-dramas in this thread, little girl..

@xk
as much as i am flattered to be thought much younger than i am, but because i have not put my age under my avatar does not say that i am younger than you.
for your information, teenage gilrs these days tend not to fall for guys like Tomoya much. they tend to like yamapi/kame/jin....
if you read Tomoya Nagase thread, you will find out that i proudly name myself as a obasan of that thread because believe it or not, i am older than tomoya himself by some years. do the maths and then tell me now if you are older or younger than me.
and i still stand on what i said. you don't have to explain yourself. your post is big give away. and the fact that go about attacking people personally (just like you did previously), it means you have nothing proper to say.

It basically goes down to culture. Public display of affection is not the norm in Japan. They basically do not like touching others. They don't usually hug, shake hands or kiss -- they display affection and respect by bowing. Kissing did exist in Japan before the Meiji Restoration but not as a romantic gesture but as a greeting -- it's called seppun.

As we have seen in jdramas, a mere touch carries a ton of romantic implication between male and female characters. Like when Rihito stopped Mei-chan from leaving in Meichan no Shitsuji or Sano grabbing Ashiya's hand to make her stay in Hana Kimi -- both scenes where considered highlight moments in the respective series.

A hug carries even greater emotion equivalent to a verbal confession of love by the hugger -- Nakatsu and Ashiya in Hana Kimi, Rihito and Mei-chan (again) and, Chiaki and Nodame by the riverbank, to name a few.

Depending on the scene leading up to it (the context), a kiss shared by the drama's protagonists usually seals the deal -- that they are now "together". To cinematically deliver the kiss (as westerners do it) seems too risque for Japanese sensibility.

So it's not really the actors' decision on how to portray it, but it's just the way their culture accepts the depiction of a romantic kiss.

On a side note, that they fuss about the thought of sharing a drinking cup or straw because for them it's like "indirect" kissing gives us an insight on how much weight they put on an actual kiss.

You seem very protective of Japanese people or their TV shows and dramas.. You love Japan? I used to have a lot of interest in Japan but lost most of it these days... it's not easy to find me a cute Japanese chick around where I live. i may have to fly over to Japan to pick one up.. but i feel kinda ridiculous to do that. And usually some mid 30's guys or girls don't post a huge avatar like that. It gave me an impression that you are 17 or something.. lol That avatar is just too big. it distracts my viewing when I read posts here. Also your signature pic is HUGE! lol Mods should limit the avatar and sig pic size as well.

I find it rather amusing that the member with yellow fever who wants nothing more than big, pretty pictures of Asian girls making out as a way to "improve" dramas is the one repeatedly referring to other members who don't share his horndog fantasies as teenagers.

Frankly, xk, the way you refer to "chicks" and your seemingly singular obsession with women in sensual and sexual context tends to indicate that you are a very immature person with minimal success with women.

Asking for spit-swapping and R-rated material as a means to improve viewership and quality are not "constructive" or "valuable" as you intone. They simply underscore your fundamental lack of understanding of the culture whose women you find atractive.

Rather than keep repeating the same old tired desires for more provocative fare that will not be forthcoming, take my earlier advice and find some JAV sites to satisfy your desire for more sexual content.

I just love folks who continually jump in with juvenile requests and then try to act like other people are immature....

This post simply goes to underscore what I said earlier.

Newsflash: It's a lot more like a teenager to keep bugging about sexual content than it is to have a pic of an actor you admire in your sig.

Take the advice of a wise man who once said, "Act like you've gotten some before..."

Xk, to be fair your idea was pretty idiotic. I mean... your basically saying that no one recognizes Jdrama and that the only way anyone would, would to by basically turning them into porn flicks with insane crapped out kissing scenes. >.>

I would also like to take the time (since I'm bored and have nothing else to do except play Vagrant Story) to profile you. ^.^
What I get from your posts, etc is that your a person probably about the age of 15 male, single, possibly an emo kid. Possibly a natural born troll weighing in about 400 lbs and can't off the chair. You also probably hate the Japanese because your either Korean or other and feel inferior to greater nations like Britain, U.S., and Japan or the other great 18 nations in the world since if you are Korean you're people have never contributed anything to the world. (other than pay China tribute)

Now I base these assumptions off of previous posts made by you. For instance you still call her "girl" even after we can assume that shes kinda old, you seem to have a savage dislike of females. This probably happened because "mommy" didn't show you enough love as a toddler and possibly didn't breast feed you. (poor baby V.V)
Your also mistaken about contributing an opinion when with the lack of common sense and the incredibly vague and nonsensical posts about 2 girls kissing in every drama. Now before you say you didn't say every drama you never specified what kind of genre, situation, etc so we can only assume you mean every drama soo... yeah think on it a little more. Now I'm 100% biased in everything so yes I am defending Japan. Do I love that country? No but I do like it for many reasons and dislike it for just about as many. Do I hate Korea? Ohh god yes I do, I hate them with a fiery passion but does that stop me from liking their movies? Nope.

What this has to do with anything? Nothing, I lost focus half way through. Time to go study, got a test on 20 kanji characters today that I haven't memorized soo..

See ya troll. ^.^

Wow, that was a full of trolling. Are you really 23? you seem to too old considering the level of your maturity. i'm an American you fool and I'm not insulted by what you say.. you can keep on guessing what nationality I am. Btw, if I'm really 15 how come I have two high-end plasma screens ($9000 total) and a $3000 custom built DIY HTPC? I bought the plasma tv's when I was 11??? I also own an expensive Lexus, got it brand new last year. yeah I'm 15 alright lol.... At least I have interests in asian music and TV dramas.. J-Pop and K-dramas specifically... and also am passionate for enjoying high def stuff. you are the one sound like 15 lol.... that's EXACTLY how a 15 year old teenage boy talks like, as shown in your post. Go do your studying boy. You shouldn't be browsing and slacking off in the forums... you need to think about getting yourself good education. Right now as I see you are in the low class punk..... kid.

Your absolutely right about that and your previous post, I'm too lazy to get my wifey to come to my house and have some good old raunchy sex because like you said "I'm too busy on d-addicts". As you can see I take sitting here posting over doing anything else productive like working. Who needs to work? I surely don't need the money to sit on my fat ass all day to pay for my internet, food, gas, electricity, cable games, pc parts, clothes and to pay for my incredibly expensive class books and materials. Man if there was some way I can some how trick my girlfriend to come into my "base" so I can have sex so we can get another abortion with hanger on penny going. I just got a brilliant idea! As we all know I'll just use your ugly ass girlfriend as a sex slave ^.^
No wait that wouldn't be right, I should use her face as a door mat instead. Much more befitting her looks I would say. ^.^

Do I know what your gf looks like? No clue but I do have one hell of an imagination.
Do I care where you're from? Nope
Do I need to get laid? 2 weeks.... Hell yeah
Am I an amateur to these forums? I am I guess, but unlike you at least I type in coherent and precise sentences.

What that last part had to do with anything? No idea but I am bored as hell. v.v

Now am I the only one here who finds it ironic that the person who brought up "exchanging saliva" and continually whines about a lack of sensual activity onscreen is talking about someone else watching Japanese girls and drooling?

And all that crap about, "I've got this, I've got that?" The only one you're remotely impressing is yourself. Of course, I'm guessing that you're very used to pleasing yourself. And btw, blow-up dolls don't count as having a woman. (of course, since you're SO affluent, I'm sure you've sprung for one of those solid models I've heard about somewhere. Which one do you have, the schoolgirl or the maid?)

I'll reiterate: " Act like you've gotten some before." People who are secure with themselves don't act the way you do. Quit drooling over your keyboard and trying to impress everyone. If you haven't figured it out by now, the majority of the readers here who actually take 2 seconds to consider you think you're a whiney little horndog with the maturity level of a middle-schooler.

Sadly, you will once again fail to realize that, I'm sure...

If they're going to kiss in j-dramas (or ANY dramas) they really should make it look good (unless the point is that the kiss is no good, but that's not the kind of situation this thread is about).

Now, that doesn't mean I think there "should" be a passionate kissing scene in every romantic drama, or even a kissing scene at all, but IF they're going to put in a kissing scene, it should look good, not like some of the really long lips-pressed-together-and-nothing-else-happens kisses I've seen in dramas. (~_~) Has anyone seen or participated in something like that in real life? I ask because I sure haven't, so it looks really fake and weird.

If they're not going to make the kiss look good, then why have a kiss at all?? When it's done well, holding hands or a hug or any number of other things can be WAY more effective than a poorly done kiss scene.

Maybe think about it this way - if a fight scene in a drama is an important part of the plot, doesn't it kind of spoil things if the fight is poorly done and really fake looking? Same thing with kissing.

Another person outside of Japan with a culturally biased opinion. Please define for us what "good kissing" in Japan is? And remember, the Japanese may define this differently from its outsiders, considering that the Japanese dramas ARE made only for the Japanese.

As for me, the kiss between Rrett Butler and Scarlett O'hara is as good of a kiss as I'd like to see in any drama.

No tongue. I don't even see the lips. But, I DO get the idea, and that's good enough for me.

Ok... going back to the topic
tunix_2008 wrote:It basically goes down to culture. Public display of affection is not the norm in Japan. They basically do not like touching others. On a side note, that they fuss about the thought of sharing a drinking cup or straw because for them it's like "indirect" kissing gives us an insight on how much weight they put on an actual kiss.
I think it also has to do with the audience. I observed a lot of dramas and their kissing scenes, and this is my conclusion (just going by the pattern) If the show is target for mature, adult people: kissing looks like kissing (Kimi wa Pet, Love Shuffle, Byakuyako). The lips don't barely touch and since the show is not target for crazed 14-18 year old fans. If the show is for younger, immature-ish audience: Kissing scenes aren't that intense, or rather, they don't want their young actors/actresses to actually enjoy the kiss (maybe) Like Hana Kimi, that show was basically eye-candy for girls. Was targeted mainly for middleschool-high school girls so I don't think they're going to portray the kiss as if they're enjoying it so fans won't get mad, and the audience won't get offended.

I see where groink's opinion is coming from, but I can't entirely agree on it. There are quite a few things that is fairly new in Japan, but it doesn't mean they're bad at it. Like Western music. Lots of popular songs in Japan are influenced heavily on Western music. But they don't refuse thos songs to be played on TV, radios, etc. Nor are they bad at it, (and with dancing, many Japanese dancers can beat American ones)

And that it's for Japanese audiences, I think we all know it is. But if one drama shows a crazy kissing scene (or actually show both people interested in kissing in that scene) and the other drama doesn't I think it's more than just a cultural thing that doesn't like to display public affection (or even when they are by themselves.) Like, I think the original post was how the kiss looks in certain dramas. But it's only my opinion! I'm not bashing Japan or anything, or need anyone to say to me "If you don't like it, then don't watch them," More like observing how they kiss, and I'm not trying to say it should be "Americanized" kissing. Just that man, it sucks if fans really do get mad seeing actors/actresses having to kiss like that. So no one, please don't get all over mad because of my opinion.

Obviously everyone is culturally biased, there's really no way NOT to be. :roll

I've seen quite a variety of kisses in j-dramas (and tw-dramas, and k-dramas) and certainly not all of them are of the "gee this looks fake and artificial to me" variety, regardless of whether the kiss is very innocent or very passionate.

Maybe the Japanese do think these kisses that look really really fake to Westerners are "good". So, do the Japanese really have a broader/different idea of what a "good" drama kiss is? Or are some j-drama kisses just....not that good, even if you're a Japanese viewer??

Anyone have friends in Japan who'd be willing to poll their friends about specific "bad" j-drama kisses and then post to the thread and enlighten us? Because otherwise it's probably just going to be a bunch more non-Japanese posting their "culturally-biased" opinions.

I don't understand when people call kissing "Americanized". We didn't invent kissing, last time I checked damn near the entire western world from Germany to England to damn near everyone kiss in a similar fashion. I know its a cultural thing and that it wasn't meant for "foreigners" but still everyone has a right to hold an opinion to it. Then again in an earlier post I stated that there were many dramas that the characters could convey they're emotions for each other with decent kissing scenes, Like in Warui Yatsura, Kou Kou Kyoushi, A sleeping Forest, A Million Stars falling, and many others that I can't remember the names of (usually played by the main character in "A Million Stars Falling")

Oh btw the majority of Japanese dancers dance funny as hell. Not to mention that if they actually do show some sort of style it was already done in the U.S. or popular years back. Not to mention we in the U.S. has an incredibly large mix of races with cultures from everywhere in the world and influence each other which if I'm not mistaken Asians in general try to copy. I don't know about you but I can't watch the PV trust without laughing at Arashi dancing neither could my friends that I've shown it to.

Mostly because you're a flaming idiot. That alone wouldn't merit my attention, but when you continually berate other members and call them immature when your own posts are so adolescent, ridiculous and self-serving, I feel like responding.

Besides, interacting with you is quite a bit like having a little pet puppy who's not housebroken. He growls menacingly and ineffectually, occasionally tries to hump your leg, and every so often he piddles or poops uncontrollably, so you stick his nose up to it, swat his little rear, and let him go on his merry little way until he craps in your living room again.

Does that answer your question?

Besides, as I told you before: You act decent in the threads, I'll leave you alone. You act like an insulting douche to other members, I'll show you up for the scalding anus you appear to be. Frankly, you do a pretty good of that yourself, but I'm a bit bored atm. so I figured I'd help you out.

I believe you talked about Kimura Takuya. I agree that his kissing scenes were the most believable when compare to other actors. I especially love his kissing scenes in A Million Stars Falling and in Pride.

Back on topic, I'd have to agree with some of what was said earlier on a few points.

The main thing I believe is the target audience. From what I can see, displays of affection in the dramas marketed to 12-18 year olds (or that similar range) in Japan seem to equate roughly with the ones marketed to 'tweeners' here in America. The ages scale a bit older in Japan, but the affection level seems to track roughly. Topics in the Japanese ones marketed in that range do tend to tackle somewhat more mature themes, but the physical affection doesn't.

Coming from an American upbringing, Japanese media has always seemed to hold a bunch of seeming contradictions with regard to depictions of the body and intimacy. I remember as a kid in Japan my parents being shocked that a cartoon I was watching had nude children depicted in it, as well as visible panties on characters in others. That would have never flown in America, especially at that time. Also I have yet to see naked breasts on broadcast television, while it is common in some of the late-night shows shown in Japan. (or at least was. Haven't been following recently) On the other side, if you go to the truly "adult" end of the spectrum, censoring is mandatory for the most private bits. In America, the Full Monty's on display everywhere.

Sidetracking a bit, but the point to me is that the restrained portrayal of kissing is a byproduct of a much more culturally reserved attitude towards public affection for a particular age range, as well as society in general.

That was convoluted and not exactly how I wanted to say it, but anyway....

Well, only saying Americanized in reference to how people think American kissing is like. No way do I think America invented kissing. (I think kissing was definatly here in other countries before the Natives came over here. And no, not everyone kiss in a similar fashion. If so, why are there so many types of kisses (and why is this topic even here?) I am just going by the barely even touching lips scenes. Many people here keep saying that Japan just need to be how they are and people should respect it. Even in those scenes when teh kissing is just, barely lips touching, there are certain types of emotions being displayed. Like that sh kiss, the sneaky one, the surprise and the receiver is just in shock and don't know what to do. But, it's like, there are a few scenes where the lips don't even touch (like seriously, I saw a kissing scene where like... just above the upper lip was kissed) Like, do these shows really not want to show people engaging in kissing? That's why I really do think it has to do with the target audience.

And I HATE kissing scenes in American media. Like, do people need to kiss for half an hour....? Like seriously... and just sucking on each other lips. (I mean, I should be glad that Japanese shows don't show it like that..... *shudders*)

I dunno, I've seen many PVs and seen many great dancing. Some aren't meant to dance, I do admit that. But have you see Kumi dance? I think she's sweeeeet. And I think it's more like a "Everyone can do it." Not certain things are reserved for certain nationalities (except for offensive things but that like a who new debate)Everything in history is in general, copied. You just take it and make it your own or find a better/improved use for it.

The thing is I just don't see anything wrong with American kissing scenes. In our culture to portray our feelings (at least me and everyone I know, including my friends from overseas like Korea) we like to get kinda intimate. I mean I'm just sick of hearing about how everyone don't like how Americans kiss when there are others out there who are much worse, France, Brazil, Spain. They're dramas are much more explicit than American love dramas but no one ever touches on those.
I mean come on what drama outside of soap operas where kisses stay longer than 10sec or without it leading to a sex scene?

You do make a good point about Koda Kumi though, I love the way she dances with those hips of hers

Well, I don't watch those dramas so I can't really say much on them. I'm American, so I can only say that from what I was raised with and watched in the media. And y'know, I don't like those kissing scenes. (Which is why I say, I don't like American kissing scenes. Not trying to single out America only like it's the worse in the world, but not trying to generalize all kissing scenes across the world.) I think it's gross, and it has always made me uncomfortable. Bad enough I saw that crap in high school (I don't like kissing in public anyway. No matter where I am, suck face somewhere else and let me enjoy where I'm at) and seeing it on screen sucks too. The sound and ick! My friend's dad calls it "Macaroni and Cheese" (if you poke mac and cheese, that's how it sounds... so now I hate the sound of that too) Hmm, well... I guess you didn't know I was American since it's not in my profile. Hehe ^_^U But yeah, I don't like our cultural kissing scenes. I kiss my boyfriend, doesn't mean I need to kiss him like I'm hungry and just pounce on him and just go crazy. (and I don't either)

Oh, I answered your question just fine, tweedle-dumb. I"ve shown through my posts and contributions to the site over the years what my reasons are and don't need to justify or explain further to the likes of you.
As far as the rest, let's flip that for a moment and ask you why you're here. According to the majority of what you've written, it seems to go something like this:

1. **** about picture quality
2. **** about not seeing more wannabe porn on shows.
3. Brag repeatedly about how much stuff you have.
4. Call other members children constantly while acting like a kid yourself.
5. Continue all of the above to keep aNToK from getting bored.

Thanks for the last. It's fun watching someone continuously veer further into the weird zone when they have absolutely no chance for a meaningful comeback or defense.

I wasn't asking what you *did* in the d-addicts forum. Are you really that stupid? Can't you comprehend my question? It was a simply question and expect rather a simple answer but you decide to try to make a long speech out of it and going on your own way. Are you nervous? I can see full of defensiveness in your posts. Something is worrying you. Go back, read my question again. I wait for your answer.

You already received all the answer that you deserve, little one. Not my problem if the answer wasn't what you were expecting.

Defensiveness? Nervousness? Worry? Lordee, you are acting like you actually made a point or something somewhere. I don't need to go on the defensive because I've done nothing that needs defending.

And to play your little game, I did notice the complete sidestep with regard to your reasons for being here. Go look through my post over the years and figure out why I'm here for yourself. Then ask yourself the same question and be ashamed of what you find.

Ah, grasshopper, I don't try. I simply do. I'm wondering how long it's going to take for you to realize that there is not a debate involved here. I am simply ridiculing you because you deserve to be ridiculed. You've posted nothing to date that merits a serious, thought-out response, so you don't get one. You seem to want to insult and inflame with your posts, so I'm accommodating you. Aren't I generous?

And with regard to you, I've been on the offensive the entire time. The fact that you fail to realize this only underscores your lack of understanding. And back to your game, another misdirection sidestep with regard to your reasons.

"Get down to the business" Sounds like a bad disco song. I find it rather fun to watch you sit, twist, and get frustrated repeatedly with your "Why? Why????"

Dance, little one, dance!!!!

Since you are avoiding to answer my question I will have to assume you DON'T know the answer or have no clue on the meaning of my question. And my question wasn't to insult you either, cause this may apply to everyone else who spends time in d-addicts forum. I gave you a hint here. You still don't get the question? It has been 3 hrs now... You said you are bored but you can't even figure out what my question means... or you are afraid to answer.

... and while you're at it, here is an advice I would like to add. Don't try to be hero on the world wide web. There is nobody you can control. You are trying to go around and dictate what everyone should do and should not do. If there's someone you find disturbing or irritating you let the Mods take care of it. That's what the mods are here for. You ain't the mod. You are .... *nothing*.

I'm giving you another chance. ANSWER MY QUESTION. If you don't know the answer then just say so.

Do I need to give you a whole day to figure out??? Try using your brain. Don't get so defensive and try to think WHY you are here on d-addicts forum. Don't worry about what others may think of you. Think about it just for yourself. I wait for your answer..

As you can see you asked "Why is he here?" aNToks response was...

"Mostly because you're a flaming idiot. That alone wouldn't merit my attention, but when you continually berate other members and call them immature when your own posts are so adolescent, ridiculous and self-serving, I feel like responding."

In what way was the question not answered xk? I just don't see where your posts are headed anymore since your arguing over something that's been done to sustain your whole entire argument. Well unless your working up your trolling skills but man they suck you should try much much harder, you've known you did a good job when you get someone cursing. >.>

Ah, sorry silly. Karate-ka was correct in that I did step away for a bit. Look at the little section on the bottom of the homepage and you'll see a list of who's online and guess what? With my name beginning with 'A' and it being alphabetical, it's real easy to locate me!!!!

And frankly, if I was avoiding you, do you think I'd still be posting here? I'm enjoying batting you around.

I find it interesting that you keep bringing up this "why are you here" thing like it's some big metaphysical mystery.

Maybe he's a visionary seeking knowledge.... Maybe he's a sleeper agent for the streaming sites to generate controversy and attention... Maybe he's the savior and defender of all of fansubbing... Maybe it's a continuing journey in which the voyage is more important than the destination... Maybe... Maybe....

Maybe there isn't any one reason at all. Ever consider that? Perhaps you come in to a board with some kind of agenda in mind (and for this board it seems to be to whine about things that you don't have and brag about things that you supposedly do, meanwhile playing out the "I can talk back here" fantasies that you no doubt are too chickenshit to do in real life. My guess on the last...) but most come here for a variety of reasons.

Now to answer your question "Why is aNToK here?"......

None of your damn business! There, wasn't that worth the wait? Why you keep insisting on trying to pigeonhole me into some dark, mysterious "reason for being" is rather curious.

I don't ask why you're here because, frankly, who cares? I see what you post and respond accordingly. I can infer your reasons based on what you post and you are free to do the same with mine. Go ahead, I don't hide anything. Go dig through all 2,000 or whatever post-count I have and try to pick apart the inner workings of aNToK. I don't hide a damn thing, and I don't pull punches.

What you ought to do is look in the mirror and at what you've posted and realize that you were acting like an ass, got called on it, got spanked, and move along.

As you'll recall, I hadn't posted anything related to you until you started in with your inane comments toward Issy a few pages back, and to your strangely developed false sense of self-importance. The rest, quite simply, is me enjoying antagonizing the crap out of you and watching you post more and more obviously frustrated posts while venturing further and further off into left field.

I'm sorry if you were under the impression that we were involved in some kind of "debate" or something. That would require me to have a worthwhile opponent. And you don't qualify.

to be honest, I think he is just trying to provoke you by asking the same stupid question over and over. this is his one and only trolling weapon. and then when gets short of ideas, he goes on attacking people presonally.
we all know by now that he has nothing constructive to say. so, the best way is to ignore him. he can talk to himself for hours and pages here.
then he would be warned by a mod for trolling for sure.
