Since there isn't a thread for this yet and I'm super excited that Yuki Amani and my favorite actor Takenouchi Yutaka are in this series together.

Synopsis: Osawa Eriko (Amami Yuki) is brilliant and competent as a career policewoman. However, even though she understands criminals’ psyche, she is completely hopeless at reading men’s feelings. She is also a strong, single woman with hopes of marriage. Incurring the displeasure of the top brass ever since she threw away a career advancement because of her ex-boyfriend, she was sidelined and sent on training to the US. After her return, she somehow becomes the head of the First Investigative Division’s Special Crimes Unit which has been set up to counter the high incidence of violent crimes. Her members are a group of detectives who are capable but have behavioural and personality problems. In other words, it is a post that has been created to get rid of her discreetly but as the boss, she gradually brings them together and builds them up into an outstanding investigation team.

oh thanks, i had my eyes on this drama. i deffinately will watch this one. so many of my favourite people in one drama? Yaki Amani and Yutaka Tekenouchi?

not to mention Tetsuji Tamayama
i hope one fansub group will pick this drama. can't wait to watch.

How exciting!! Yuki Amami is always great in any drama..I would never have imagined her is a drama with Takenouchi Yutaka..but it will be great as they are both so good. Plus it has Toda Erika who I'm totally obsessed with recently, I love watching her in dramas!! This is my most anticipated drama next season!

Yeah, those two have been together in Rikon Bengoshi so it will be interesting. This looks like a great cast altogether.

Has anyone any info about Yutaka's role in this? From the picture he does not look like a serious member of the police - more like the ex-boyfriend.
His looks remind me of RONDO though.

Nope he's certainly not the ex. He's the colleague who entered the police force in the same year. A career police official despite that gruff, unshaven look. The description of his character seems similar to the role he had with her in Rikon Bengoshi except that he's the opposite of gentlemanly this time.

Another one joining the reunion is Tamayama Tetsuji. He was also in Rikon Bengoshi.

Amami Yuki is awesome, i was anticipating her new drama since Around 40 ended lol ^^ and it's finally here!

i have to say that i love the casting, with Toda erika, Takenouchi Yutaka and Junpei *__*~~

and i still have to see this CM but from the pictures Amami already looks fierce *_*

The theme song is going to be Best of My Life by Superfly.

Not much information available yet. I can imagine this drama being like Iryu - bunch of misfits in a hospital = Boss - bunch of misfits in an investigative team.

I'm not hoping for really heavy drama...more hoping good script and ideas! I always like police/detective dramas because they are very clever. as for romance, can't really see Amami Yuki with any one of the gang so maybe her romance will be with someone outside...but wonder if they will match Toda Erika up with someone?

Thanks for all the information and links everyone has posted! After watching the teaser, I think Takenouchi Yutaka's character is the most intriguing, by far. Can't wait to see him and Amami Yuki together.

I'm looking forward to Toda Erika and Amami Yuki's performances, although I have to say I'm impressed with the other cast members too. And I see Kichise Michiko is acting with Erika again (yay!).

Wow, first episode: 18.1 % ratings. That's exciting. Not surprised either - a very interesting plot (which I hope the drama will be too) and an amazing and familiar cast. Hopefully the Japanese people liked the pilot. :]

I am torn between whether to watch this drama as a raw and make do with whatever nihongo i know or shall i wait for the subbed version to come out.
but i think this drama is one of those ones that you need to understand every word to get its clues and enjoy the story though.

@paradox - the sub file will not be out may be in few week or more. The subbers doing this as hobby and not as a job, plus they need time to sub them. So just be patient for now or you can try wiiki for a half@ss sub.

It looks like a good cast mix and the stories seems well paced. From what I've seen in ep one, there are many characters but are not being drowned out nor is the audience being overwhelmed. Currently, it looks like the most promising series of the season

i'm gonna assume that you're part of timelessub/haruspex since you answered paradox's question. Is there a chance that soft subs will be released as well? I like my 720p videos

Unfortunately I'm not a part of timelessub/haruspex. You can check on their project status under the Community Fansub. I do believe there's unwritten rule that you don't ask about when the sub is going to get released in d-addicts.

No softsub version announced yet AFAIK. HARD SUB only so, don't bother downloading the RAW files if you don't understand Japanese, unless you want a RAW version for backup. You will have to download the complete HARDSUB divx later. Hardsub means the translation is embebbed inside the video, and you can't remove it. You can't add the subs either to the RAW. HARDSUB are standalone versions.

OMG! Me too. I had a very hard time timing this drama. Every time Yutaka's lines come up, I had to repeat it few times. Hee....

Though I hope to see more of Yutaka in the drama. SO HOT!

what? the guy was just asking if it the sub is out or not. And you go on preaching about subbing as just a hobby. It wasn't as if the guy was saying, "give me those subs you lazy subbers." Then that will be the time you go and rant the subbing is just a hobby line.

As for BOSS, it's looking damn good

. I saw the first episode in 720p last night and I really liked it so much, especially with this great cast! I hope I can hold myself from watching the rest of it until the subs come out.

The whole point of the post was to remind the person not to ask about the sub file. It's pretty much a general rule that you don't ask about it but just wait for it. Anyhow, I'm dropping this subject since this is BOSS discussion forum.

to the people that have watched one or both episodes of BOSS already- how is the chemistry btw Takenouchi Yutaka's and Amami Yuki's character?
I have last watched TY in Tomorrow...and was waiting for him to play a sort of bad boy or more rough character...so excited. Waiting patiently for the subs.
I have only seen the first 10 minutes of ep. 1 and oh..boy ...I am going to wait.

no chance of chemistry... takenouchi is like a guest appearance in the drama. his total screen time each episode added up to less than 10 mins each.

I'm enjoying watching BOSS so far. The plot can be improved, but out of the 3 dramas this season I'm watching, I look forward to BOSS the most each week.

And finally I just love the super stylish opening sequence, and the lovely ending song and scenes

Am also interested to find out the backstory between Eriko and Hiroshi. She always seems such a different person when she meets him, so girlish and young. I can't quite figure out what he does based on his dressing though. Hmm... those colourful shirts/vests and pants he wears.....

The first God hears about deaths on the Fire Dept's radio, hurries over and takes photos BEFORE the police get there. How are these deaths getting reported before anyone arrives on the scene?
The second God (the one with the cape and knives) appears outside Osawa's apartment. After a chase, he throws a knife at someone and runs off. Soon after, he leaves a knife in the hands of the man who burned in the shed. Later on, in Osawa's bathroom, he magically changes clothes back into the robe, paints his face, and he's got ANOTHER knife! This guy really IS God!

Yes, still no subs. But the jdrama weblog has quite a detailed synopsis of all the episodes so that helps a lot if you've watched the raw but aren't sure of all the details.

I thought ep 4 was just so-so. It focused more on the crime investigation and the story continues till next week.

in contrary, i found episode 4 better than episode 2 and 3. at least there was some sort of cliffhanger at the end (though the ending to that was pretty obvious). but then, i didn't watch this drama for plot, i am just here all for the cast and style. so it doesn't bother me at all. heh heh..
