Japanese Drama Review Site Suggestions please :D

I'm currently looking for a good blog that reviews current Japanese dramas. I've found one for Korean dramas called dramabeans.com but none thus far for Japanese dramas. If anyone would be kind enough to direct me to some blogs or websites that review J dramas current and or old, that would be immensely appreciated! :D

Jdorama.com-- It has top 50 dramas based on votes and comments from users.

The Top 50 list at J-D is nothing more than a popularity contest... It's no indication of drama quality.

If it's good it's bound to be popular by a couple of people

Transformers was a popular movie, but it sucked... And so did its sequel. :P

I'm not saying popular things can't be bad. Just that popular things sometimes deserve it. Transformers however does not. Well maybe the first half of the first movie.

I agree about Jdorama. Its not that accurate and no real reviews on recent dramas. Any other suggestions? Thanks btw for replying you guys.

8thSin, whose translation work is absolutely impeccable, has a page on this site that might help you. There's evaluations of Japanese dramas as well as Japanese movies. I refer to both when I'm in the mood to check out a new drama or movie.

Actually, the Drama Discussion forum at J-D might be of help: http://jdorama.com/viewforum.2.htm

The regulars who really watch the dramas and aren't biased post up good reviews. :thumright:

You only want to read RECENT DRAMA reviews?

Well, this one has more J-MOVIE reviews: http://doramaworld.blogspot.com/

NT2009 is a complete J-Drama review database up to 2008:
http://www.nt2099.com/DORAMA/database.html

I write J-Drama reviews too ^_^

Shameless plug --> www.still-frames.net/jdrama/reviewsheets.html

Includes mostly recent dramas and a few token older ones. I have a very different review style, which most people either love or hate. It has its good and bad, because you get breakdowns, rather than sweeping, vague statements, but then you're left with less of a big impression and more lots of small impressions. Plus I'm VERY SPOILER FRIENDLY. To me, reviews aren't complete unless they give me the whole nine yards. I'm sorry, if the ending blows, that's something I need to know up front. :D

Anyway, I'll tell you straight up--you won't find a J-drama equivalent to dramabeans. Sarah is toooooooo good for any of us to keep up with. She wrote a few pieces for my K-drama site back in the day, so I'm good friends with her. The closest J-blog I can think of is Ender's Girl --> http://www.blogcatalog.com/blogs/the-li ... -girl.html. She has great writing style, plus she's hilarious. Never drink anything while you're reading her stuff; you WILL need a new keyboard, mouse, speakers, headphones, anything else that lies around your comp....

Ender's Girl is terrific: Funny, witty, and very knowledgeable. :thumleft:

I like Akiramike's blog at http://hamsapsukebe.blogspot.com

Since he tends to like the same kind of dramas as me, it means I don't have to watch twenty bad dramas to find the one that's good. :salut:

Thanks alot you guys! I really appreciate it! Unfortunately, some of those blogs either got deleted and or are outdated. Not so much recent stuff on some of the independant bloggers but classics are always the best so I'll check them out anyways. Thanks again so much!

Too late to revive a 9 month old thread :V? I think there should be more jdrama review blogs/sites around. The more, the merrier.

I also run one myself. My blog is very... bold. Its spoilerly and heavily opinionated and I don't review with a sweet tongue either. I think I've offended a few with how sarcastic and cynical my reviews can be. Basically, if it sucks it sucks. If it is amazing, I'm gonna let ya know. You can actually check it out through my sig or here: http://loljapan.wordpress.com

I've been looking for a community of doramabloggers too. It kinda seems like everyone's underground while the crazy fangirls and fanboys are right in your face haha

But yeah, I'm starting my own little blog in the effort to help people make decisions about whether or not to watch one dorama or another and I hope I can get some feedback!

Alrighty, I'm gonna go browse through the links stated above

@howtwosavealif3 - hehehe I just read some of your blog about Korean drama. I love Japanese drama the most and I love Korean sageuk the most. Especially like Iljimae I love those kind of drama for all the reasons you hate melodrama :lol. I can't watch it too much because it is depressing. I've only cried on 2 Asian drama so far, the first was A Love to Kill and second was Iljimae. It took me several weeks to finish Iljimae because I would cry so hard I would feel sick. I have not cried on any other drama whether Korean, Japanese or TW/Chinese.

BTW, good thing you didn't say that about Nodame on this site. Juri-chan has "police" that will follow and defend whatever you post negative about Nodame Cantible or Juri-chan. hehehe :lol.... I'm sure that they just really love her so they want her to always be in good light... I think that is what it is.

I would love to see you do a blog or recommend a blog for spoilers and spoiler sites too!

too bad she is no longer write in there anymore :-(. Her last entry was back in 2011
possibly the most detailed, meaty, and entertaining j-drama/movie review blog ever

If you wanna find good reviews, possibly after the demise of Ender's Girl, you've got Hamsapsukebe's review. Not as good as Ender's Girl's, but still worth visiting for.

I miss Enders girl so much. Her blog was wonderful. Many great discussions and exchanges re Japanese films and groups and it was all bright and funny. I miss her so much.
she must be terribly busy since she is absent from other sites where she would sometimes pop up.
