I like Mirai-chan a lot, ever since I saw her in Joou no Kyoushitsu...she's really talented for someone so young, and cute too. I hope she'll have even more success in the years to come :thumright:

WOW. She's so pretty with long hair!! I'm really impressed. XDD

Does anyone know where I can find TV interviews and stuff of her?

She definitely needs more roles, but I suppose her school education doesn't allow it.

Among the young ones, she and Fukuda Mayuko are the two hottest irons in the fire in their age group IMO. Those two really have a lot of potential, and should they chose to stay in the business (not all of the good ones stay, take Kurosawa Yuu, who simply quit, got married and has kids now), they'll both be on top of the food chain sooner or later.

What I like on both is that they broke with this "cute innocent little girl" stereotype relatively soon. Shida with "14 sai no haha", Fukuda in "Teru Teru Ashita".

i started watching her on tantei gakuen q. i felt interested and tried searching for her other dramas. i finished her last drama 14 sai no haha and it was great and full of tears. i'm now watching her other drama jyou no kyoushitsu and enjoying watching her funny antics.

:thumleft:

now that there are reports that she'll again star in the detective q series, i cant wait till the drama would start.

she has a new movie:

"Odoru Daisousasen" team working on new movie
Sun, November 25, 2007 (8:39pm EST)
Producer Chihiro Kameyama and screenwriter Ryoichi Kimizuka are working together on a new film, it was learned on Sunday. The pair gained fame for their work on the popular police drama series "Odoru Daisousasen" (also known as "Bayside Shakedown") - the second movie in that franchise currently holds the record for the highest-grossing Japanese film in history at more than 17.3 billion yen.

Their upcoming movie, titled "Daremo Mamotte Kurenai," also falls within the police genre, but combines it with social issues rather than with comedy. Koichi Sato stars as the detective Katsuura. He is placed in charge of a junior high schooler named Saori (Mirai Shida), whose older brother has been arrested on suspicion of murder. In order to protect the family from judgment by the rest of society, the police have changed their names, temporarily removed them from work and school, and separated them. Katsuura's job is both to protect Saori and to extract some evidence from her, but at the same time, his own family is on the verge of collapse.

Kimizuka is directing the flick. Other cast members include Toshiro Yanagiba, Yuriko Ishida, and Kuranosuke Sasaki. Theatrical release is scheduled for next fall.

Like most, I have first notices Shida Mirai from 14 sai no haha. She was really good in it, so cute and determinate.
Second time seeing her was at Suppli and finally at Tantei Gakuen (SP + jdrama), she truly has talent. :lol
Now I get to see her again in Seigi No Mikata, so funny!!, along side Yamada Yuu who gives a good performance too but Shida Mirai steals all the looks and most of the scenes.

I think she has a great future if she keeps going like this. If someone knows where can I get more information about her and her projects, please PM me. Thanks!! :thumright:
XOXO :salut:

What a talented girl she is   . I first saw her on 14 Sai no Haha and currently watching Seigi no Mikata. After watching Seigi no Mikata, I can honestly say she can play any role, even comedic ones. Then I tried searching for her other dramas and loved Tantei Gakuen Q (SP and series) which I finished in 2 days. And since many recommended Jyou no Kyoushitsu, also watching that right now. Just finished episode 2 yesterday and I'm instantly hooked.

She delivers outstandingly on all of her roles. Very cute and talented. Can't wait to see more of her in the future. :D

Her acting ability is amazing. Looking at all of the roles she plays, her versatility is highly commendable. I completely agree with Kamikatze. She has proved that she's not just a "cute innocent girl". I look forward to seeing her in so much more dramas. I'm sure that soon, she will be mentioned with the best actors and actresses in Japan. She already should be :-)

Shes one of my favorite actresses right after Ayase Haruka, first drama I saw her in was Watashitachi no Kyokashou and was mad as hell they didn't give her a larger role even though the story pretty much revolved around her lol

I'm sad this topic died.

I hope there isnt another topic wondering around of her.

She is in two upcoming dramas in 2009 so far.
Daremo Mamorenai
A side off to her movie

and Kurobe no Taiyo

I think they both will be appearing as spring dramas or maybe even winter.'

She is my favorite actress at the moment as is my age. She is so adorable and an amazing actress

I can't wait to see the movie and the next two dramas, as for Seigi no Mikata... as much as I love her acting and oh so adorable appearance I think that was the worst drama of the season.

Disappointed that her agency has given her two crap dramas to appear in 2009.

She should be the lead actress in dramas...not just one of the cast members. Seigi no Mikata and 14 Year old Mother shows she's a great lead actress.

She'll be 16 next year...she should appear in high school dramas or comedies.

I like her performances alot. But she's falling into a bottleneck similar to what was experienced by Adachi Yumi. Basically, she's not quite a conventional j-beauty, so she needs to find scripts. But recent scripts for characters her age are rather weak, so she has problem expanding her range

SHIDA MIRAI - ONE STEP OUT OF JAPAN TO HOLLYWOODDDD!!!!!!!!

U can check out her thread if u dont know her!

THIS IS QUITE A SHOCKING NEWS !!!
Her breakthrough role in "Nobody to watch over me" makes her as international actress??!!

Image
Image
Image
Mirai with "Nobody to protect me" director

This is what i just read in a japan site
New york times:Mirai is a super famous young actress called "the princess of the entertainment world in Japan". American may not know anything about Japan's entertainment. But this is such a big compliment from them for Mirai.!!!

It's Santa Barbara International Film Festival (USA)
Only Japan and Korea are presentation for ASIA

The title of articles in all japan website like: The major praise (big acclaim, storm praise) of the world !!Shida "Mirai" Oscar winning actress.....Santa Barbara International Film Festival

Screening the film festival's director praised her like this:"She express her feelings beyond the level of 15 years

They gave her a biggest compliment:" Mirai in the future have talent to be nominated for oscar winning actress"

She was asked about it and she said like I'm not sure if i like Academy Awards. I'm in Japan and i will try"

She sure gave them a big notice for her outstanding role in "Nobody to watch over me". If not, she could not be invited there.Because she even not the lead role in that movie. Mr Sato Koichi is the one but he didnt have chance to be there. Usually asian people in this kind of world festival are only directors b/c they represent their movie. Not so many asian actors/actresses can be there. U GUYS MUST KNOW THAT every asian actors/actress dream to be invited in this kind of international festival especially It's in AMERICA! IT'S IN HOLLYWood!!!

Many of her seniors maybe never experience this kind of things!

After signing, she was asked to shake hand with audience!

She had to greet there at 24 stages. In her first day, she cried b/c she was so nervous.
She tried her best to greet and introduce in English with some helps. She failed at first try and she sheded tears after that. She succeeded for second times with smiles and was better in days later.

They said some more about her in USA but basic is here!
Those bloggers have seen this news were shocked . But mose of them said she will definitely be the "future" of Japan. (Mirai means future)

THIS ONE IS REAL! NO JOKE HERE

Shida Mirai's fans should be proud of her!!!
This is just so amazing for 15 years old actress and even more b/c this is her debut movie
She could see some of Hollywood celebs. Lucky her!

Shida Mirai a future candidate for the Oscar?

Posted: Feb 25th, '09, 16:18
by nguahoanglaisoi
Last month, the Japanese movie "Nobody to Watch Over Me" with Shida Mirai (15) in the starring role was screened at the 24th Santa-Barbara International Film Festival. For that reason Shida herself attended the film festival as well, the first ever in her career. Right before going on stage she was so nervous that she even began to try, but she still was able to hold an impressive speech with a few English sentences later on. She also received a lot of praises from the organizers of the film festival who said that she's a likely candidate for an Academy Award in the future.

Santa Barbara is located at the coastline of California in America. Shida Mirai and director Kimizuka came to the "Metro 4 Theater" for the greeting event on January 30. Dressed in a kimono Shida introduced herself and the character and said, "Thank you for coming and enjoy the film", in quite a fluent way.

A few days ago she already attended another even for the first screening of the movie, but right before her speech she was so nervous that she started to cry. During the actual performance she was at a loss of words again and shed tears afterwards when leaving the theater. However, on the 30th she did just fine. "I was 100times more nervous than during the actual filming. I'm not really good at English and I had huge blockade during my first speech. Now I'm relieved and hungry."

Shida plays a young girl whose older brother gets suspected of murder and through her eyes, we get a glimpse into the vulnerability, the isolation and even the resilience of the individual when up against a volatile and often intolerant world. After the screening the audience asked her for handshakes and autographes. "It's not like in Japan. Americans aren't as formal." She also brought along 5 packages of Japanese-style meat and her beloved tuna from Japan. "The tuna sandwich you can get here is really delicious. I've already went to buy souvenirs for 11 of my friends, but I still have to buy more." Recently Shida passed her high-school exam and is currently relaxing to her fullest.

The movie was introduced in the "EASTxWEST" category and Shida received a great deal of praise from the director of the film festival. "She is able to express feelings and emotions beyond the level of a 15-years-old." Los Angeles is only 2hours away from Santa Barbara by car. It's the place of the Academy Awards in February and at the festival they can already see her holding an Oscar in her own hands someday. "Mirai is the future, she's having enough talent to get nominated."

Shida herself doesn't really aim for an Oscar and rather wants to put her energy into the work that's right in front of her eyes. "I'm not really that familiar with the Academy Awards. I just want to do my best in Japan."

That seigi sister she was hilarious in.

I like her very much, but I'm always stunned by how tiny she is. I don't think, she exceeds 1,45-1,50m even though "official" sources say different...but I trust my eyes more. ;)
