Delightful Girl Choon-hyang (KBS2, 2005)
Delightful Girl Choon-hyang (쾌걸 춘향)
Takes the timeslot of 'I'm Sorry, I Love You'
First date of broadcast: Monday, January 3rd, 2005
TV Station: KBS2
Days aired: Monday/Tuesday @ 9:55pm
From the director of 'Bodyguard' (the Korean drama).
Note from Touya: Just think of this drama as a spunky modern version of the old (I mean OLD) Korean novel from the Chosun Dynasty about a love relationship between a noble's son and a prostitute's daughter (technically, a gisaeng's daughter, but prostitute is the closest modern term for it. A gisaeng would be a girl who pours drinks and sleeps with her clients if the client oh so desires ^^. So yeah, prostitute.).
Cast:
Han Chae-young as Sung Choon-hyang
Starred in: Autumn Fairytale, Bejing My Love
Jae Hui as Lee Mong-ryong
Starred in: Empty House (movie)
Uhm Tae-woong as Byeon Hak-do
Starred in: The Nine-tailed Fox - A Supplementary Tale
Park Shi-eun as Hong Chae-rin
Starred in: Unhindered Love

lol, the movie was like pornKeius wrote:Cool. I loved the movie "Chunhyang".
(Could have done without the traditional Korean music though...or at least
a bit less of it).
Is this new kdrama mostly a romantic comedy then?
Or more towards syrupy melodrama?
The first episode was hilarious, but KBS dramas tend to be funny the first few episodes then become uber depressing near the end. Let's hope this drama sticks to comedy.

a "life-changing" drama
Wow,
Only 3 people voted this as a life changing drama? Dude, I've been a J Drama fan for years, and always thought K Dramas were boring, shallow, and only about old people sitting in the living room all the time and arguing about their kids.
But MAN... when I first saw this on KBS LA, I was suprised as heck. It was super interesting, had creative plotlines and camera-work, an interesting cast ( Han Chae Yeong is fine... ) and a kickass soundtrack. After one episode, I did furious internet research trying to find out what the heck it was, and as a result found this website, learned about clubbox, and generally had my eyes opened to the wide world of K Drama/K Music, etc. I even stared learning Korean now as subtitles are so hard to come by.
So to reiterate my vote, HECK yeah this series was life changing good.

when i surfed through the WIKI.. i wondered which character han chae-young played in autumn tale.. gosh, that was one example how make-up can make someone look ugly.
anyway, when i first watched this, it reminded me so much of sweet 18 and full house. i got the feeling that it was sort of a mixture of those two dramas. i was entertained alright, only if i wasn't distracted with the similarities it had with the other two dramas. anyway, after episode 4, i no longer see those similarities. too bad i watched the ending without a subtitle.
SPOILER for those who hasn't watched until episode 16:

i really loved the part where they remade scenes from autumn tale, MiSA and full house. it was so hilarious!
and when choon-hyang threw the necklace and broke the phone.. i loved that one!

Remain me of Sunny Bright Girl a little bit coz it's got a lot of funny scene!
To you all who likes funny, entertaining, amusing and also romantic kdrama should see this!!
And don't forget to pay attention more at the ending of all eps -short story when they all wear that traditional clothes- & when they combine scenes from full house, winter sonata, etc. Your gonna lol !

Can anyone explain why does "mr. obsessive movie company owner" finally decide to let her go and release the full version of the tape?
He does so because he finally realizes that he can't have everything he wants. He even tells her that toward the end when Choon Hyang asks him why he revealed the tape. It's also a way of finally redeeming himself in allowing these two people to be together once and for all.
biting finger?
Hey, in episode three, the play episode, at 51:00, in the background behind Choon-hyang and Dan-hee, you see a guy (maybe a classmate) point his finger out at Choon-hyang. Then you see Ji-hyuk grab his hand and attempt to bite at it. Then the guy does this "what was that for?" or "screw you, dude"-like hand-waving motion and walks off. Keep in mind this is all happening in the background (meaning the viewer is not meant to focus on this), but I couldn't help but notice this every time I see this episode. Can anyone explain this odd behavior to me? I watched that clip ten times, and I really think I'm missing some kinda cultural joke or something. Maybe this is just backstage slapstick, totally unscripted behavior. Any thoughts?

rather wondering about this, i would rather wonder when will ep.11-17 e-subs coming.junta85 wrote:Hey, in episode three, the play episode, at 51:00, in the background behind Choon-hyang and Dan-hee, you see a guy (maybe a classmate) point his finger out at Choon-hyang. success of a bright girl, umm its also a good drama, but not as nice as choon-hyang...choon-hyang has more jokes and more funny moments if you ask mebakajanai wrote:i initially downloaded this series because i thougth it was the 'success story of a bright girl'..to my surprise it wasnt, but i love this series...is success story a good drama also? Re: biting finger?
Rather than not answering my question, why don't you "wonder" on over to the Delightful Girl Choon-Yang Subs thread . You can wonder all you want over in that thread. Here, this is a discussion thread, which is what I'm doing: discussing the show. That's why I put my question here rather than in the DGCY Subtitles thread. If you can't answer my question, let someone else. I'm sure my question is pretty stupid and has nothing to do with the expected time of release of new DGCY episode SRTs, but I didn't come here to talk about subtitles.rainfall wrote:rather wondering about this, i would rather wonder when will ep.11-17 e-subs coming.
I really like this series!!! So, for those people who's a little tired of sad ending/cry your eyes out drama... this would be a refreshing drama for you. The first episode is so funny that I gor hooked! i can't wait to finish watching this series (i'm at 10th episode)... I might even spend the money to buy it to include in my collection... I really like the main guy in this series... he really did a good job protraying the main (guy) character!!!
There are some teary/touching moments but the rest of the series is very entertaining and light...!!! So I highly recommed this Series!!! Love it!!!

I just finished watching the series and dang..sooo goood...one of the best. I had a question about the parodies they did though. I know the Sorry, I love you one and the Full house one, but not the others, could someone fill me in on the other parodies (like was the beach scene one?) ...and out of those dramas they parodied...are they any good to watch? it must be 'popular' in a sense to be parodied because I saw sorry i love you and full house and looooved both those dramas!!
i just the full version with subs, and i can't stand how "evil" and "psychotic" the dodo president turned out.
i rewatched some of sweet 18 a few days ago. other than some similarities, i noticed that they tried to make choon-hyang daring by wearing weird outfits. maybe she was trying to be as daring as han ji hye but unlike HJH, it didn't suit her. she looked as weird as her attire. it looked awkward on her.

I thought this was a cute drama, and the end was depressing enough. Also does anyone else think Han Chae Young was quite top heavy? Every time she wore tight clothing, her chest distracted me from what was happening. Found a bio and she's like 5'8" weighing 110lbs, so im guessing 10 lbs alone on her chest. I didn't think she was that pretty at the beginning, but she grew on me, but then again, maybe I'm influenced by her curves.
[edit] Also Mong-ryong should have introduced Chae-rin to his fist, maybe she would have respected him more. [/edit]

^--- lol yeah, that Chae Rin girl reallie did get on my nerves, everytime she was on screen, I had the urge to slap her. But it was amazing that she had snapped out of her senses before the president. Talking about him, his obsession towards CH was so annoying! ARGH! lol. Anywho, I just finished this drama a few days ago and I love it! It had similarities with Full House, which I didn't mind cuz I love that drama as well. I'm starting to prefer these light-hearted funny dramas more than the sad sad dramas now. Don't know why, I guess I find it more interesting to laugh thru out a drama then cry. lol. Oh, and MR is so cute!!!!
Re: biting finger?
i think its pretty obvious why the guy pointed at her....her picture was on that poster remember...so im guessing those guys were looking at it and then saw chun-hyang so he pointed at her...i guess Ji-hyuk thought he was talking bad stuff about her so he tried to bite his finger off? lol...junta85 wrote:Hey, in episode three, the play episode, at 51:00, in the background behind Choon-hyang and Dan-hee, you see a guy (maybe a classmate) point his finger out at Choon-hyang. You'll see...I was surprised too when I saw that, but my sister calmed me down and told me that I'll understand in a moment.Jannah wrote:I just watched episode 6 & am super peeved at Byun Hak Do now. Why the hell did he have to cancel the scholarship?! That was just downright mean of him.
Finally I've finish Choon Hyang...
and the what the hell? I watched all 17 episodes for that???
I am so freaking disappointed...
It doesn't mean that every happy ending could make me happy....I wasn't satisfied at all
My sis was exasperated as I was, and when she took the mouse and fast forward ep17, I didn't care anymore.
Here's what I hate about this series:
1) The fact that they created a new story at the very end...I didn't even bother to let the subs sink through my brain when they squeezed in new characters and a conflict on the last two episodes--all the way through ep17, I was enumerating dramas out loud that I have enjoyed more and have seen completely...hell, I'd never skipped any scenes of Winter Sonata.
2) The way they overplayed ajusshi's song!!! I think I'm gonna go crazy if I hear it one more time.
3) Choon Hyang and her squeaky voice. I really think some other korean actress could have played her role a lot better. I hated her personality also---good girl? bleh...too stupid, oblivious, and non-charismatic.
4)Chae-rin and how she magically became so nicey-nicey
5) Ajusshi's obsession for Choon Hyang---annoying and unconvincing
6) A lot of people mentioned their annoyance over the "packing and unpacking" scenes in Full House--I felt the same way over how they make up and then fight in a second. Their fights used to be funny in the beginning but it got old and turned sour towards the end.
7) Typical Kdrama--draggy in the middle, draggy in the last 3 episodes.
What I liked about this series
1) The first 6 episodes
2) The humor on the short "imagination scenes"
3) The Romeo and Juliet scene made my stomach hurt from laughing so hard.
4) The little skits at the very end of each episode. Very smart, and ironic. The scenes that you wanna see happen, they make it happen in these scenes. The cellphone and a marker showing up centuries before the present hak hak hak
6)The parodies!!!!!(Winter Sonata, Sorry, I Love You, Full House) This cracked me up so bad
Test your drama knowledge, hehehe...
5) Mong Ryong's dad!!! He's my favorite dad or old man character aside from Jang Geum's step dad in DJG.
6) Mong Ryong and his priceless expressions
7) Mong Ryong and the way he imitates Choon Hyang's "shingyang kusho"
8. Mong Ryong and the way he lifts up the corner of his upper lip
9) Mong Ryong when he says "We?"
10)...how sweet he is to CH
11)...etc, etc
Yes, it's pretty obvious that I was able to finish this drama because of Jae Hee(Mong Ryong).
DGCH is all about the comedy and Jae Hee...Watch it to get a good laugh! But don't expect a well written story line. Like everyone is saying, it's like a mixture of Full House and Sweet 18...but I'll say those two are still better than DGCH.
And why did Choon Hyang's mother suddenly disappear from the face of the earth???
Unlike Full House and Sweet 18, this drama loses its effect after one time of watching it. I can't even count how many times I've watched FH and Sweet 18!
They should have chosen a different actress to play CH. Jae Hee was perfect for the role, but the actress playing Choon-Hyang? It's not only the character that doesn't suit her, but the hairstyle and attire also. SHG and HJH looked gorgeous even with their unusual hairdo and clothes. Okay, okay.. I kind of liked CH in the first few episodes when they were still in high school. But after 17 episodes and another round of the full version (since I watched the kbsla edited version), she can get pretty annoying.
I can relate to what you have said, esp that ajuushi's song..jaycee05 wrote:Here's what I hate about this series:

maybe something happened to the actress playing htat role? I don't even remember seeing her in the very last episode.jaycee05 wrote:And why did Choon Hyang's mother suddenly disappear from the face of the earth???
true true....plus I liked the very end. rather the closing scenes with flashbacks. it's different and better than just simply saying, "I will love you for the rest of my life and the life after that." I found that really romantic.jaycee05 wrote:What I liked about this series .............

this series was absolutely hilarious .. i thought the two leads really had good chemistry n they're both cute in their own ways. its like.. i liked them more n more as the series moved along. the lil skits at the end are sooo outrageous!
hrmm .. i also found it sooo odd how her mother disappeared .. the last we heard of her is that she had a concert thing .. but then there was also that part where she scammed someone. so right .. there were definitely some loose ends.
aye .. hu cares! just watch the leads!

Though I dont like this one as much as Full House or Sweet 18, but for me it's still a must see one , with some strange points. I dont know why they let Choon Hyang's mum disappear until the end either.
There are some episodes in the middle in that Choon Hyang was stupid, I agree. She believed everything Hak Do and Chaerin said, and disregarded whatever Mong Ryong had done. But before and after that I like her, she sacrifice so much for Mong Ryong, that's not stupid at all. She just tries to protect him. Even his father knows about the tape and he doesnt know any other way to help. In that situation, behave like that is the only way. Moreover, she doesnt live with Hak Do, she chooses to hide, I like it. I dont know whether she suits this role or not, but I feel Ok
It's annoying to see how that president becomes so evil. And Chaerin's sudden change is unconvincing.
Mong Ryong's lovely, I dont have anything to complain about him. His father is so nice, I love him as much as I love Sweet 18's granpa
Well, in short, this serries is a good one in my view, with hilarious and touching moments

Does anyone else notice the downplay of women in this series? Throughout the whole series, there are few women who actually come off as nice. Choon-hyang, the old lady near the graveplace, and Chae-rins boss are the only exceptions to this. Every other female we get to know at one point or another acts like a complete tard. Both mom's come off as really horrible people and are probably the extremes that caught my attention to this trend within this series.
I voted this for a must watch, but I can't go back and restart watching this series for some reason. I've however gone back and watched the interactions between the 2 leads a few times now because the chemistry between the 2 is quite nice. Also anyone know if the song they sing at the teachers wedding a traditional thing, because its a really nice song.

Gosh, I love those scenes! Especially the one I just watched in episode 10 where Mongryong's in the video store & he's imagining Choonhyang & Hak Do playing the leads in various movies. The Romeo & Juliet one was well-done. It's a well-recognised scene.2) The humor on the short "imagination scenes"
Some of the little skits were rather clever & funny, but some I didn't quite get the humour. Like the one where Byun Hak Do was dragged out by CH & Danhee.4) The little skits at the very end of each episode. Very smart, and ironic. The scenes that you wanna see happen, they make it happen in these scenes. The cellphone and a marker showing up centuries before the present hak hak hak
I love the dad too! He's hilarious. It's good to see more of these unorthodox dads in dramas rather than the gruff, control freak types that are typical in K-dramas.5) Mong Ryong's dad!!! He's my favorite dad or old man character aside from Jang Geum's step dad in DJG.
I've never seen an actor with more facial expressions than Jae Hee! He's really clever at contorting his face in various ways to express all kinds of feelings without looking ridiculous.6) Mong Ryong and his priceless expressions
I know I've heard the song somewhere, and I think it's the movie My Little Bride.Dilemma wrote:Also anyone know if the song they sing at the teachers wedding a traditional thing, because its a really nice song.
MY GOD it was agonizing watching this serie after episode 13.
It was too damn ridiculous that I had to stop watching it:
1. she accepted the guy's black mail method and literally brutally hurt the one she loves. It's too ridiculous to squeeze this plot in.
Doesn't this part kind of insult women everywhere? A woman is submitted to evil and she did not retaliate nor try to bring that evil to justice (like recording the evil's confession). She "helped" her lover but a "normal" woman would know she might be trying to kill him. She owes debts but when it comes to protect a lover I would even cripple my own sister if she turn evil.
Hello? if she loves him wouldn't she be able to "think" that this would eventually kill him?
How the hell did they think this would work? I'm surprised he didn't try to kill himself (Drinking wouldn't kill him)
2. When they said " I cannot live without her/him" lovers do mean that. I wouldn't be able to carry on living when a girl I love suddenly cut everything in a split of a second. When the causes are unknown and unreasonable one cannot handle the pain of losing a love one. If I was him I would've at least attempt taking my own life long before the engagement.
3. How the heck did he become a prosecutor after being dumped so unreasonably? I've personally seen a very smart relative devastated by a girl and after that he had a really hard time finishing a 4 years college.
4. The set-up video was ridiculous. A good lawyer would be able to prove innocent just by the missing part of the tape. He had to rape a woman in a middle of the road? the center of the camera? she was damn ugly too.
I can't find more but I need to calm down. This is the worst Korea Drama I've watched so far. I'm very disappointed.
The plots are too damn rubbish. It's trash, nothing more than to extend the serie into more episodes.
I expected so much from this serie. It was great until episode 13 when things turn stupid.

Hehe, you need to approach these dramas with an open mind. Don't critique them so much because you'll lose interest real fast. All drama's aren't plausible in real life because they are too extreme.
That said, I also thought the whole video thing was a poor excuse to break them up. I only watched this drama for the chemistry between the leads, which is on par with Full House.

I tried to understand it with an open mind but some thing that you can't just squeeze in, like an elephant up George W. Bush's ass. You just can't do it.Dilemma wrote:Hehe, you need to approach these dramas with an open mind. Don't critique them so much because you'll lose interest real fast. All drama's aren't plausible in real life because they are too extreme.
That said, I also thought the whole video thing was a poor excuse to break them up. I only watched this drama for the chemistry between the leads, which is on par with Full House.
I've mediated on some extreme drama like "sorry, I love you" to understand a little of one little rubbish plot. This drama is an idiotic level of extreme, it's an insult.
I was disappointed because the plots lack of common sense. When a story lack of common sense people just don't give a damn to read it.
They squeezed ridiculous plots along crappy directing that killed this drama for me. Things were fine until they tried to extend the drama by combining two completely different story. Like putting a Chinese guy "battle" rapping with a black man; the result? those who like rap music will end up hating it and wish to never heard it ever again in their lives.

So you noticed that too? hahaha...aside from the occasional "glum faces" it's like the CH arc never happened before...VietZeus wrote: 3. How the heck did he become a prosecutor after being dumped so unreasonably? I've personally seen a very smart relative devastated by a girl and after that he had a really hard time finishing a 4 years college.
They tried to make CH's sacrifice heroic...but it came out really lame....if she was so smart, she wouldn't have tried to provoke ajusshi's feelings in the first place. She plays too hard-to-get for MR, and it annoyed the heck out of me.VietZeus wrote:4. The set-up video was ridiculous. A good lawyer would be able to prove innocent just by the missing part of the tape. He had to rape a woman in a middle of the road? the center of the camera? she was damn ugly too.
They introduced CH as this very smart girl, but as the show went on, her character came to a full stop. She gave up too many times, and didn't even try to fight. I don't blame ajusshi for being infatuated with her. She flirts too much going "ajusshi~ajusshi~" She went out with Byun a lot more than she went out with MR. And how many times did she hurt MR? But of course she's trying to protect him--geezzzzzzzzz
Come on, you're trying to hide from him, so why do you try to call him 10 feet away.
Delightful Girl? Sassy Girl? She's a sorry excuse of a modern day woman. She has fallen too many times...but I agree with MR, a money-grubber she is. I liked the CH they created on those skits though.
count yourself lucky if you found "it great until episode 13"VietZeus wrote: I expected so much from this serie. It was great until episode 13 when things turn stupid.
You think there is chemistry between them?Dilemma wrote: I only watched this drama for the chemistry between the leads, which is on par with Full House.
I don't. haha... got sick waiting for them to get together, just so the show could end. Her concern towards MR looks fake(eg. when she got MR a medicine--too cliched, it's like they squeezed that in to show that she still cares and it came out like a huge crack on the wall. There's no smooth transition.) There wasn't even sparks at all when they do finally ended up with each other. Ah, the airbag scene? Haha, it's the first novice scene I've noticed on a kdrama.
It's the writer's fault. Instead of concentrating on an unknown actor's fame and a brand new group of bad guys, it would have been better if they center the last episode around MR and CH.
But since you mentioned Full House...
At least Ji Eun remained faithful. Even if Bi had hurt her a lot of times, when the moment came that she has to pick between the two of them, she chose to stay with Bi, saying that she know how it feels to be left out. Now you'll say, nothing was on the line...what's on the line? ahh, the blackmail tape(oohh scary). Kim Sung Soo (MH in Full House) was in the entertainment industry too but he didn't try to create the so-called blackmail and dealt with people who were actually in cahoots with the yakuza.
Haha, yea the yakuza being involved kept the story spiraling into the abyss. I think Mong-ryong is what keeps my interest in this series, his acting is great, hopefully he makes another drama soon.
I found this on the soompi forums while browsing through it, not sure who to give credits to because that thread is a monster at almost 200 pages. Its cute watching them make the kissing scene.

I've just finished episode 13 & you're making me afraid to watch the rest now. Then again, episode 13 was already ridiculous. Like most of you here, I can't believe Choonhyang would leave Mongryong just because of Byun Hakdo's blackmail, and even more unbelievable is how obsessed Hakdo is with Choonhyang, how he says he can't make it without her. How did he get where he is before he met her then?!VietZeus wrote:MY GOD it was agonizing watching this serie after episode 13.

am i the only person who hated this drama? I thought episode 1 was sooo good, but then came the next 8 episodes (i'm on episode 10 right now) and i'm just keep getting more and more pissed off... why can't they just use the excuse "what are you doing to my wife/husband?" or "can't you stay away from my husband?" i haven't read the other users comments (probably contain spoilers) but... hmmm.... did anyone else dislike it?

I really liked this series mostly for the divine chemistry between Chun-Hyang and Mong-Ryong. I really ADORE them soo much. That's what kept me going. But I do admit that the whole "I can't be with you for stupid reasons" plot is soo tedious. This drama could easily have ended after 12 episodes but it kept on dragging on and on. The comedy factor in the script (I love the paradies of various Korean dramas features at the final episodes), was also a winning factor, helping to make this drama less overly-dramatic and more funny and engaging. I'd rate it a MUST SEE just because it really is a very funny, light-hearted series (well, the end gets a bit dark, but it's not over-the-top). It has a HAPPY ENDING, thank goodness, which breaks the fatal female-character-dies-of-illness routine that are so typical of K-dramas lately. I really hope to see Jae Hee in more series since he is sooooooo cute!!! ^o^

Yeah, that whole Mr. Byun turning evil thing didn't work on me. I mean, the character is so strong-willed...a bit possessive but very strong. I don't buy the fact that he's suddenly so weak because of a pitiful love for a woman. I hated how the script writers made Mr. Byun seem like the evil one when his character was actually Prince Charming in the beginning. I guess it has a twist to the story (when it was Chae Rin who wasn't the villain in the beginning) to add more depth to Mr. Byun's character but I really didn't like how they seemed to change his character. I like this Drama a lot.. I think, the chemistry between both actors is Awesome!!! It somewhat drag a little bit... but i was happy with the ending!! Thank God!!! It's a Happy ending!!! but I think Mong-Ryong carried out the series more than Chun-Hyang... He's such a great actor!! should have been "Delightful Boy, Mong-Ryong".. heheheheh!!! But definitely a highly recommended Series!!! Should See It!!!
Does he have any other series?

i finally finished the drama! and i must say were they spoof the korean dramas (Autumn Story, Winter Ballad, I'm Sorry I Love You, and Full House) was a hoot! I was watching it at 12 am and laughing so loud... lol... i too changed my mind because it had a good ending...! although i would say watch episode 1, then hand pick any episodes between 2 - 13, then watch 14 to the end... lol... but the only thing i realized was chun-hyung was the Shin-ae from Autumn Story i hated her character in Autumn Story! lol
Yeah, I agree... Even though the spotlight was kinda on Choonhyang, I was much more attracted by Jae Hee's portrayal of Mongryong.Lil_Bubot wrote:but I think Mong-Ryong carried out the series more than Chun-Hyang... He's such a great actor!! should have been "Delightful Boy, Mong-Ryong"..
This is his first & only drama series so far. But he's been in a couple of movies before this: Bloody Beach & 3-Iron.Does he have any other series?
Same usual Korean drama stuff, nothing too new brought to the table. But I still enjoyed this drama. The leads did well and had chemistry in my opinion. These two "newer" lead actors look promising-- especially Jae Hui. His facial expressions as previous posters have discussed, are very good at conveying the emotions. The angry lip curls and such are quite comedical. Han Chae-young is pretty and her acting was ok...I especially liked her when playing scenes of acting "cold" towards Moon-ryong to make him leave her. She can pull off that cold look quite well.
On the note of parodies, besides the obvious ones in episode 16...I noticed Choon-hyung had alot of mannerisms of Ji-Eun (from Full House played by Song Hye-Gyo). Did anyone notice these and were these meant to be "parodies" as well? Such instances where she says "Do this...or you're dead!" and snarls, or when she brushes her teeth after having kissed Moon-ryong and shakes her head.

whoa, i finally watched this one, and i actually totally loved it. it seems i'm a sucker for the comedy/drama genre. so i'm a bit suprised this one has earned quite a bit of criticism here. it usually feels like i'm the only one who didn't love the show (e.g. Full House) haha i loved what everyone else loved... the movie and kdrama parodies, but i seem to have also loved the stuff some people hated too... the over-the-top, unrealistic story, that changed gears toward the end. i guess i wasn't expecting anything realistic from the get-go at ep 1, so i wasn't caught off guard or disappointed. i thought it was all great a good balance between drama and comedy, exactly the way i like it!
EDIT: i also wanted to mention that i revisited my first kdrama, Autumn Story (as it was called on KBFD here in Hawaii), after having last seen it when it first came out in Hawaii almost 5 years ago. i revisited to check Han Chae Young in this ealier role and just because i used to hold this show in high regard (i guess cuz it was my first). i'm half way through, and darn it's so boring this time around. i guess more kdrama experience has changed my opinion! anyhow, to the point, i wanted to say "WOW! how did they manage to my HCY look so much younger in a drama that came out almost 5 years after??" i'm stunned.

Same for me. I just finished watching the drama and totally loved it. At first, I didn't think the lead actress was attractive at all, but throughout the drama, I saw her in a different light. I think it might be the hairstyle that wasn't flattering to her at first. Anyways, just wanted to say that I loved this series and am a little bit disappointed that it isn't more popular.
I liked MongRyong's dad a lot as well.
The last part of the drama was so unrealistic that i felt a little disconnected from it. The drama got a little more serious, so the comdey wasn't there any more. I still liked it though, especially in light of the original story. I thought the adaptation was pretty clever, even though the story dragged out a bit too long.
I want to see more of JaeHee also. I wanted to watch BinJip (3-Iron), but I missed it while it was in theaters.

Hi...
does anyone know where I can download the OST and get the list of OST of Sassy Girl Choon Hyang?
thank you ^_^
thank you ^_^
Yap, I agreed that Winter Sonata, MISA and Full House parodies in episode 16 were hilarious! I afraid that is the only scene that made me laugh. I would said this drama series is only average but I loved the ending that they make promises that they would want to be with each other in their many after lives which make me feels sweet and warm in my heart.

Love this Drama........
This drama is one of the best Korean dramas I have seen. To me, this series has 3 different time frames..the high school years, the college years, and the adult years.
I like how there are different issues in each time frame and how it relates to the age of Mong Ryong and Choon-Hyang. Such as in the high school years, there are issues concerning schools i.e (acedemics) grades and school plays and so on. I know the last 2 episodes seemed different but it is what creates a good drama.
I would rather watch something like this then a boring plot where nothing exciting is happening. I LUV this drama.......Luv Jae Hee!
I LOVE THIS DRAMA!!! IT'S MY FAVORITE DRAMA YET!!!!!!!!!

hi hi^^
I really want to see this drama but no one is seeding the episodes.
does anyone know a clubbox or another place where I can download this drama with english subtitles?
I haven't seen Delightful Girl Choon-hyang yet but from what I heard the storyline is really good, the cast is not that great but either way the series is really good.
