Hmm, what do you mean by emotional? Because being pissed off is also one of the emotions, right?
If that counts, BOF.

If not, the saddest was The Devil.
Not a lovey-dovey story, but emotionally wrecking piece of a story.

Recommend Family' Honor.(54 episodes)
It's a great drama with all fantastic ingredients; casting, story telling, and of course happy good ending. Each character got his/her own charisma of which you can't stop watching till the end.

I thought that the drama LA DOLCE VITA was a really emotional ride. It was quite unusual for a Korean drama and the cast was topnotch. Lee Dong Wook certainly played out of his general romantic style even tho it was basically a love story .

Most anything with Ahn Jae Wook is emotional for me. He was my very first Korean hearthrob. He is a good actor but chooses some bad dramas. However, he is charming.

I'm in the same situation as you...

IRIS is action, but still sad
Hong Gil Dong
Capital Scandal (not really that sad, but still..)
Snow Queen (sad)

I can't really think of anything else right now that would be sad.. Maybe you've already wathed those four, after all they're quite well known ^^

Try Creating Destiny..

I had kind of the same feeling with that one even if it doesn't stretch over several years

Looking for recs... I've seen about a million J-dramas, but have never seen any K-dramas, and would like to get into those now. Trouble is, I have no idea where to start.

Could someone give me some names of dramas that are good to start off with? I generally prefer suspense dramas, but I'm always up for a good comedy, and *occasionally* a well-written romance.

You might want to try K-dramas with J-drama counterparts (versions) like Hana Kimi and Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers).

IRIS is a good action/romance series. Prosecutor Princess and Oh My Lady are nice series to start off as well. Kinda light and funny. :D

Please help with KDrama request!

Post by Pakku » Jul 7th, '10, 13:02

I originally posted this request in the General Discussions forum but I have had no luck with help. It seems this forum is more visited so hopefully I can get some help with this request.

I have a bit of a bizarre request that I hope that this forum will be able to help me with. A few of my friends and I that watch Korean dramas have noticed a common theme around scenes that involve "facial masks" (beauty masks). We have found these scenes to be quite funny and more prominent in Asian shows than in the west. I would like to see more of these Asian dramas that have scenes like these.

I was hoping people could suggest to me shows/ episodes of Korean dramas that contain material like this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tomomi

Try Bad Guy (thriller/melodrama), it's airing right now:

Episodes: http://holden740.blogspot.com/2010/05/bad-guy.html (files are split, so just use JDownloader)

I've seen IRIS and Prosecutor Princess, and definitely recommend them. You can find the episodes & subs for them at the same sites I linked above for Bad Guy.

Ahnyoung,

I was wondering if anybody knows where I can find Dream episodes 5-9 with eng subs. Apparently all the sites i've found so far have the video hosted by rutube.com and they have deleted the video. So, I was wondering if anybody else knew where to find the episodes. Thanks!

Plus, starting topic like this may fool people, it looks like you started discussion topic, not a question.

Making a request for recommendation should be placed here, not starting countless topics.

Comrades more focuses on the fights among South and North, on loyalty and war, Road Nr 1 is more about love and emotions, with war in the background. For me, both series are yummy^^

Help me. I have some free time now and I want a Kdrama! So, what I am looking for is Teen drama(of course). I love those the most. It'd be better if the drama would be about love, since watching teens do clumsy things and so on is fun.

Nop, haven't seen that one. Is there love somewhere? I know that it's pretty new, but which subbing team is subbing it and is it done already?

I've seen around 30 kdramas, so I can't really write them all.

It is done. It is the Korean version of Dragon Zakura, so there is a one sided love between two characters, and a slow developing love story between one in the one sided love story and another character. The love story isn't huge in this but I still love this drama a lot more that the original. And who doesn't love Gil Pul Ip? She is just so cute, and sweet, and wonderful. She made the drama so much better.

This is the only teen drama I have seen as I am new to Kdrama's, so please name some of you favorites.

Oh, and the subs were done by Haru Haru Subs http://www.haru2subs.com/archives/god-of-study .

Depends on what you are looking for in dramas:
Coffee House: comedy, dragging, I dropped after 10th episode
Bad Guy: slow, intense story of a revenge and fall
The Devil: slow, intense, yet cold story of the revenge and fall

After City Hall, hmmm... two last just don't fit. Go for a classic: watch Coffe Prince. it's always good. Or Cain and Abel. Great acting and story!

I love, love, love city hall ! Anyone who likes romantic comedy/drama should watch it. The chemistry between the two leads is great. There are some very funny situations in the beginning and then it gets more serious and emotional. I highly recommend it.

Any good Korean drama Recommendations?

So far I've watched~
Boys over Flowers (loved it but didn't like the ending)
You're Beautiful (Watched it twice so far) <3 <3
Coffee Prince
Goong/Princess Hours ( not really much to my liking...really slow)
IRIS ( Stopped watching on episode 7)
God of Study (Eh, its ok) :l
My girl

I want something much similar to boys over flowers & You're Beautiful.
The cast for B.o.f & You're Beautiful was perfect
Anyways I like a Korean drama that involves Romance &Comedy (adorable,right?) ;D
Also a kdrama that doesn't have many episodes since I don't have the time to watch 30-50 episodes or so ^.^
And its production to be somewhere around 2009
(modern kinda, actors wearing style clothing)...? xD

Take care of the young lady, maybe? That fool, Dalja's spring, witch amusement.

Can't think of others. I just watched The Devil and it was really good. To be honest, middle of the drama was somehow lacking something. Last episodes last moments were really, really emotional.

To be honest, I was thinking that both guys will die. But when attorney was stabbed with a knife, I was confused. Who stabbed him? Why? I think that was a last-moment idea. But result was good anyways.

I was in shock seeing this. That is why I put it under spoiler tag, my dear...

But I don't think it was a last moment idea, no, no...

Think about it - there was no clue who could stab him. It was just a random guy. maybe I didn't look close enough and it was someone from the past.

By the way - 아녕하세요! <- Showing off ;D I just got my Korean keyboard stickers. ;D

It was in the screenplay from the beginning, really. They wanted to end it with a twist and they did.

I think I know. What do you think about
the guy who was at the trial and somehow related with Dae Shik whose death was caused by that mother?
He stared badly our attorney when the court said the mother was unguilty. I'm sure he wanted to revenge Dae Shik. I wonder what could happen to that mother too?

It's so sad. Our attorney began this whole revenge thing (by made someone kill that old attorney who had stated our detective was the unguilty one) because of an unjust verdict. But at last he was also stabbed like the old man because he also "caused" an unjust verdict.

Precisely, Gilnis, that is why it shows it was planned. This whole drama was very well planned and written.

For this year, the best I've seen so far are:

1. Prosecutor Princess
2. Coffee House

As I know it was almost the same team who had made Resurrection before. These two dramas are very similar in many things but I like their second try a way more. Well, practise makes perfect. The Devil is definitely one of my all time favourite drama.

Can you suggest me something so well planned story like this? Genre doesn't matter.

I would recommend When Goodbye Solo, but it's a drama without much action, but not only in my opinion very good. Also Several Things that make us happy (yes, KNG bias here, hehe), it has only 2 episodes, but really good.

Thanks, Gilnis. Now I understood.

그로사합니다(don't really know the spelling of the word but it should mean of course ;D) and shouldn't it be with "요" not "여"? 술 마시네요? By the way, I'm writing everything w/o any dictionary so everything may be wrong ;D

EDIT: Ethlenn, should we open topic where people could try posting and communicating in korean? Maybe helping each other and so on.

Anyhow, I wanted you to recommend me drama. This time I want something light. Something like Witch Amusement, maybe? Dal Jas spring? or something like that. People say that city hall is funny and light, should I try to watch it?

Yup, watch it, City Hall is a really nice one^^ also When it's at Night is funny^^

그로사합니다 doesn't mean of course, at least it's not used that frequently as 당근이지. You meant maybe 그렇습니다 ? It sounds similar.
하지만, 안마셨어요. I just made a typo, I don't have a stickers on, hehe^^

There is this thread for korean speaking D-Addicts members.
But if you want, you can start one^^

Ok, I'm starting it and I hope you'll participate too ;D And you found the right word and I was thinking of speaking politely that's why I didn't use 당근이지 or other, easier words.

So 그렇습니다 is the word you wanted.
I will participate as frequently as I can, but you know, I'm a busy old lady^^
Lets be on friendly terms, dongsaeng, without all that ~습니다 endings, hehe^^

cain and abel
invincible lee pyung kang
iris
one fine day
princess lulu
resurrection
romance zero
love marriage
what star did you come from?
city hall

mod edit: please don't start countless recommendation topics.
IRIS is the best Korean drama of all time hands down and it might be in the top 10 of Drama's for any country not just Korea.

I think the only drama that I really like and that I haven't seen on any recommendation list so far is What's up Fox. It's cute, funny, emotional towards the end and the chemistry between the two leads is great . Cheon Jeong Myeong (male lead from Cinderella's Sister) is just freakingly adorable and awesome here.

What's up Fox comes right after Soulmate, which will always be my number one.
If somebody wants to watch a romance/comedy drama I would always recommend these two first.

Btw it was really helpful to see what other people liked. I'm watching The Devil now and really really love it.
