Goong S had so much promise in the beginning but the story plot become lame. I didn't enjoy it has much as I loved Goong the drama Goong S is suppose to be spinoff on. I don't understand why they even bothered to make a Spinoff Goong if they where going to have such a weak story plot in Goong S. Hey, Maybe they thought since Se7en was starring in Goong S nobody would notice that the plot was not very good. Some may have even liked the whole story plot in Goong S but the acting was still not good.
I liked the plot of the story, but it's just dragging along, so much that it looses it's strength story wise. Some of the acting was good, there were many cliches, some poor acting, cheesy scenes and such. I was looking for those moments in the story where you can feel like you can connect with the character, but it didn't happen. Most of the time, the only emotions that the characters show are; sad, happy, eeehhh?!?, and "why-don't-you-love-me!!?"
In GoongS, even though Lee Hoo and Soon-Yi show that they like each other, it's hard for me to see them together. I think this is just another way to promote Se7en, or something to show until they can start filming Goong2. Se7en has potential, I wasn't disappointed with his acting (most of the time), but I think he could find better roles to play.
Oh, and I'm glad that Soon-Yi doesn't suddenly gasp anymore. I got sick of those moments she had with overexaggerating her lines and gasps. It gave me the impression that she had breathing problems.

I for one actually enjoyed this series. It was more appealing to me and the moments between
hoo and yang soon yi just brought me the chills and caused my mouth to open in awe. Goong I admit has good actors and such, but man Goong S is getting better and better. I check almost everyday for subs and watch the series in LA on 18. But this is just my opinion and was wondering if anyone else felt like this.

Hey that´s prrety harsh. In my opinion Goong´s plot suclked big time. It was draggy boring and stupid. CG was such a crybaby, there was no love-love feeling between her and Shin at ALL!marie_23 wrote:Goong S had so much promise in the beginning but the story plot become lame. What´s so weak abou the plot? It´s even based on true story. I think plot gets more and more interesting with every episode. At least the ending is very unpredictable. And you never know what will happen in next episode.
Se7en is ok, at least he is better than that stupid actor for Shin in Goong (he was stiff and didn´t know how to act at all).
I feel the same. This show is pretty entertaining and inetersting. Ppl just don´t wanna give it any chances cuz they liked Goong so much.I for one actually enjoyed this series. It was more appealing to me and the moments between

Well, since I don't think Goong was the best drama in the whole wide world I do agree somewhat with your statements.Though I still feel Goong was a good drama to watch.
It was only my personal opinion on how I felt the plot was weak at times. Sorry for expressing my opinionWhat´s so weak abou the plot? It´s even based on true story. So, the people who actually watched Goong S like me never gave it a chance. If I didn't want to give Goong S a chance I would have never even bothered to watch it!!!!
Anyway, I'm really glad your enjoying Goong S it just was not so great for others.
I was glad Soon-Yi stop doing that too. I found it hard as well to see Lee Hoo and Soon-Yi together it just didn't seem to work for me. I would really like to see Se7en in another drama I think being in Goong S might have been more of launch pad for him into possible other acting roles. I could sense while watching him in Goong S he has the potential to be come a pretty good actor.Li-Mei wrote:I liked the plot of the story, but it's just dragging along, so much that it looses it's strength story wise. I think goong or goong s script really good...just actors and actress make thats drama really suck..thats real mistake....actor and actress cant act natural..like so so..don't have talent at all...luck of chemistry..can't bring their character...they use body language but all of u can see...like a stone...that make acting cant moved viewer feeling..if they change seven maybe thats make a little different..
Thats the problem...what i can say..it's look actor/actress play their character in goong more better than goong s...although both of the drama really have good storyline..
i dont care if this story dragy to much..if they play their character really2 good...
i'm sorry if i making it worse for seven fans or any actor/actres fans also goong/gg s fans....sory once again..
Keep it up to all script writer...and...all actors/actress...

i'm not a big fan of Goong ... it was sometimes really boring ... cuz of the family matters etc ....
and the storyline in goong s is also too much of the boring family affairs ... but i love se7en
and i have to say he improved his acting a lot!!! ...first eps were really funny ... but his acting was not that great though
... but now i really like how he plays his role ^___^
se7en fighting!!!

whaaaat!? It's goong s is based on a TRUE stroy!?! Where did this info come from??? I didn't know that! Explain please!
oh wow! it makes me love the story even moremaakopla wrote:No I read from somewhere that the inspiration to the drama came from true story:StarCrystal wrote:^ It's not based on a true story =_=The inspiration for this plot came from the true story of the Joseon dynasty where a commoner became the emperor.
thanks!
and for the record, everyone who is saying that this drama is terrible, and the plot is not good, and the actors can't act, please remember that for a lot of the actors in this drama, it is only their first or second time acting! please don't be so harsh! I for one, think se7en did excellently. At first I was like, wow! he can NOT act! lol, but as the drama went on he got better. He even said that he worked hard throughout the course of the show to become better at acting. so just give it a chance! it's a cute show! ^_~

D: Oh I see. Hm, I must have forgotten that piece in the news. No one seem to mention it a lot, probably that's why e_e
Also, everyone worked hard on the show. Not only Se7en.

I agree that it's stupid for people to not give Goong S a chance just because they love Goong.
BUT I also think that it's equally stupid to then crap talk Goong (calling it draggy boring and stupid) just to promote Goong S. Isn't that kind of childish? Can't you just say you didn't enjoy a drama and leave it at that? Because I think you're just criticizing something, but then doing the same thing back.
Anyhow, as a person who is a rather large fan of Goong, I watched Goong S with no expectations for greatness or failure, and tried to look at it for it's own plot and characters, separate from Goong. I think that Se7en actually did a pretty good job for his first time; he was able to portray the humor in the first few episodes, and then the serious/emotional parts in the later episodes. The plot was... alright. It was far more "political" than I expected and not focused on the love aspect. This might be bias on my part because I didn't see any chemistry between Se7en and the main actress, whereas I was totally rooting for Se7en and Park Shin Hye's character, so I admit this. Overall, Goong S was a decent drama. I'm not sure if it'll leave that lasting impact, but it's a nice drama to watch =) And Se7en's song "Promise" just melts my heart.
Btw, this might be off topic, but since it was brought up: I think JJH did a good job of portraying Shin Goon in Goong. If you say he's stiff, perhaps it's because he was meant to be stiff; that's part of the character. I think he did a great job of portraying the stiff, coldness that required for the first part of the drama, and then the warm, loving part that dominated the second half of the drama. As for chemistry, if you don't think there was chemistry between JJH and YEH, then that's your opinion... but personally, OMG they had some of the best chemistry I've ever seen in a drama. Goong Episode 16 is a must-see, and then Episode 23 for the big kiss.

^ Personally I thought the kiss was too long after seeing a fanmade video about that O_o
I believe that Se7en HLJ had chemistry (after all that's why they chose Se7en to play the lead part of this drama because of his chemistry w/ HLJ) even on offscreen videos too. People seem to praise PSH more because of her previous known roles.

I couldn't have said this any better myself . Even though this show is the unofficial spinoff of goong, it is A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DRAMA! People should watch this not expecting it to be anything like goong. That's the whole point of a different show. I would say save your expectations for the actual sequel of goong, and THEN talk about how good or bad the plot/acting/etc was ^_~Anyhow, as a person who is a rather large fan of Goong, I watched Goong S with no expectations for greatness or failure, and tried to look at it for it's own plot and characters, separate from Goong. I would also like to add to the JJH comment, but my opinions would be bias simply b/c he so incredibly fine lol *rushes off to the "Mawang" forum* LOL

I have to say when Goong S finally aired I was really happy and I was ubberly excited. First 3eps I was like; its getting interesting, can't wait to see what happens next. Then it started to get boring. I say it got boring because I'm a girl who loves Romance-Comedy and I was in for watching this because thats what I was hoping to see. A lot of girls like me got turned off for the same reason. I stopped watching and started watching other things, until a friend told me that it was getting good at the ep. she was at and that I should give it another chance. I gave it another chance, still unsure about what she said, but it did start to get good. The reason it started to get good for me was because I looked at it in a different perspective. I took it as watching a Historical Drama durning some dynasty hehe and just hoped I'd get to see some romance-comedy. I can say I didn't compare it to be like Goong/Princess Hours, but I can say now after watching it all it did have its similarities. Its different than Goong/Princess Hours, because it wasn't just about adapting to palace life and the sqare-angle(oxymoron I know ) between the 4 main characters. It had a lot of plots to it so I appreciated it and like it for that fact. I can say I loved both Goong & Goong S, now to wait for Goong 2/Princess Hours 2 & Goong S2/Prince Hours 2

Yes, It said on tv that the director I believe wants to do a Goong S2. Also the way they leave the ending of Goong S, thats if you've already seen the ending ep. leads you to believe that way if your a person who can tell if a drama will become a sequel or not.arielle7 wrote:OMG there's going to be a goong s 2?!? ...........or u just hope that they'll make one? lol.....(I get excited easily )I can say I loved both Goong & Goong S, now to wait for Goong 2/Princess Hours 2 & Goong S2/Prince Hours 2

I hope they make a Goong S 2 but then ratings is always a factor. Since Goong S didn't have the best rating (even though it's an amazing show) they may not want to do a sequel.
But I actually have a question on something else guys! During episode 19 a really sweet song plays a number of times. For example: when Sae-ryung is yelling at Lee Hoo about how he made her into a pathetic person and again when Joon was with Assasin Girl, reminiscing about simpler times. Does anyone have that song? It's not in the OST
If you know where I can get it please let me know, please please!

Although they talked about wantint to do a Goong S 2 its true the ratings are really embarassing. So they most likely won't because they don't have support of the viewers.
Note: For some episodes the TV ratings were too low and didn't made it into the daily Top20 ranking published by TNS Media. For these episodes the ratings of the show in 20th place is given in parentheses instead.

I really would like a Goong S2!!!
Joon needs to end up with someone nice cus its so sad how hes all alone , it makes me wanna cry, maybe the assasin girl?

Oh my god, I agree. I heard they wanted to do a sequel because Goong S ranked as the all time watched online show in Korea or something like that. Hopefully they won't. I couldn't stand the plot, the time lapse ending, the poor acting by the entire cast. It was pure torture.malljclay wrote:I didnt like this at all

too drag-ish/pointless
To be honest, I liked it, but this is the FIRST drama that didn't make me cry. In fact I laguhed at the ending > But a drama ending doesn't seem complete unless I cry at the end, whether it's tears b/c I was so happy (Full House and Goong), or because the ending was so sad (A Love to Kill and Sang Doo) So I really didn't feel satisfied with the ending, but maybe if there was a part two....

Yeah.. maybe someone should report that to a mod. I actually started a Goong S thread w/ info and stuff and warnings to not bash (constructive critcism is fine) for the drama, but they merged all similar threads. So the oldest (uninformed) post will always be on top.Superkyle wrote: Someone needs to change the first post and put the info for the Goong S drama or delete this post and begin a new one for the fans, cus im tired of reading posts about Goong S negativity, guys do any of you feel the same?</b>

|how can that be done?
i really really think that the ratings were like that not because of the anti-goong s fans but because of the drama Dal ja's Spring, they aired it here in California too like when Goong S was in the 4th or 6the episode so i was watching Goong S and Dal Ja's Spring during the commercials, i downloaded the Goong S just in case....
What! i saw the last episode 2 days ago, i dont know what happened, oh i remember i didnt have the subtitles yet so i have to watch it today with subtitles....
i am really rooting for a Goong S2, Goong S Fighting!

What the heck, sorry for having an opinion. I'm sorry I didn't like your precious drama. I actually tried to like this drama because I'm an equal opportunity drama-lover.StarCrystal wrote:Yeah.. maybe someone should report that to a mod. that's stupid and impossible.

Stop people, it was not the anti-goong s fans or Dal Ja's Spring. Ratings don't necessarily show the quality of the show; however, in the case of GOONG S, the ratings were bad because the drama was awful. Lets stop making excuses, Se7en needs to stick with music or go back to acting school along with the entire cast.Superkyle wrote:/\

What the ***** is your problem? It seems like you are the one of those anti-goong fans. Mind that there are some ppl who actually liked Goong S and not becuase of only Se7en. In my opinion he is not even cute and his voice is too girly but I LIKE this drama a lot. (in my opinion the cast was MUCH better than in goong and storyline more interesting). Maybe we should go to Goong thread and sprout some bullshit about goong and say it sucks etc. But we don´t. So if you have problems go somewhere else or just shut your mouth. If you didn´t like Goong S then say I didn´t like it stop comparing it to the actual Goong! My god these dramas do not have anyhing in common. NOTHING!!nophankh wrote:Stop people, it was not the anti-goong s fans or Dal Ja's Spring. I always find it funny when a drama goes bad ppl decide to blame 'bad acting/actors'. No one ever considers to blame the bad script, how poorly the writer, director or producer did. The person who wrote the script is behind the scenes so they don't literally get the backlash from the public, its always the actors fault from the viewers perspective if they didn't like the drama. We as viewers should analyze our perspective carefully because we might realize that it was more than assuming that this or that actor/actress sucked because it was his/her first role or that actor/actress is ugly or really cute.

I hated Goong S for many reasons. The main one is that it seemd to be written by a 14 year old girl. The writing was laughably bad at many points, it stole ideas and themes from other better written dramas, and the non-sensical characters made my head hurt. The set was also hard to look at. At least the set of the first goong looked good, the set on Goong S was obviously a low budget stage.
The actors were bad as well. They delivered their lines in akward stilted speach. They were clearly reciting lines with no emotion or understanding. This could be blamed on the director since it is their responsibilty to get a good performance out of the actors. It could also be blamed on the script.
I only become anti-goong S after I watched it. I was looking forward to GoognS because I thought it couldn't be any worse than the first one.
Evidence that Goong S was written by a 14 year old girl:
I understand there are some people sho liked it, and that is obviously fine; but, I don't want to hear any idiotiic comments telling me I just didn't understand this drama. I understood it and I'm doing my best to forget it.

Calm down. I said constructive criticism fine, people who give reasons why they disliked the drama is okay. I'm not trying censor anyone's opinion. It's just that I've seen people just saying they hate it or it sucks without much reason to back it up or state it in objective point of view.nophankh wrote:What the heck, sorry for having an opinion. Well i dont think that Goong 2 would be interesting because the previous casts of Goong would not be in goong 2.....................

But you know almost in every kdrama I´ve seen girls always scream when they see topless man. Or if not scream still be bothered about it. And I never liked that teddybear thing not in Goong, not in Goon S not in any sequel that may or may not come.
Btw. No matter what ppl say I still love the actres for the older queen. She´s aweosme, even her voice is so cool!! It´s like she´s actually real queen. Man, she has some charisma.
Yeah, and what are you talking about?Well i dont think that Goong 2 would be interesting because the previous casts of Goong would not be in goong 2.....................
I'm quite serious. This drama was painful to watch. My wife, brother-in-law, and about 8 friends tried to watch it and only my wife and I finished.maakopla wrote: Are you joking or is it true?

Which dramas exactly show the girls giggling at a topless man? I've only watched about 20 and I haven't seen that yet. I'm sure there are some out there but I haven't seem them, please point me in their direction so I can head the other way. However, my problem wasn't with the girls reactions, the problem is that the writer thought that this sort of scene was worth including.
I will agree that the acress for the older queen was decent. The evil father was also quite good.

I don't get this drama. When I watched ep. 11 or something, I scratched my head and said "huh"--I don't get it. It was funny how they were trying to be serious about it too. I'm talking about the painting reconstruction competition.
I never understood the deal with that. Who won? Wasn't it a little gay when the poet and painter greeted each other? {My god, our years of conflict and not talking to each other was resolve so easily by Se7en}...i don't get it. I guess it some cultural stuff that only a Korean would understand.
Is it just me, but did the lead girl take her maid job too seriously. Who wants to be a maid? She was like, "i worked so hard to go to the academy so that I can be a better educated maid." Seriously, that made no sense to me. Yea, you're feeding and cleaning after royalty, but cleaning after someone is the same thing no matter who you're cleaning after... AGAIN, I don't get it and it just totally turned me off.
THROUGH out this drama, I had a lot of "I DON'T GET THIS" and "THIS IS DUMB" moments.
Hey someone said I was a anti-goong s fan, I'm not. I actually don't care. I watch whatever if it's good.
The plot was fine, I mean it's Korean romantic drama, you can't really expect much--first love conflict, square love triangles, contractual relationship, rich liking poor, rich person looking down on poor, parental disapproval, odd toilet humor, poor person always perfect...the usual.

Please don't judge if you haven't seen the drama.farrieya wrote:Well i dont think that Goong 2 would be interesting because the previous casts of Goong would not be in goong 2.....................
kid, I don't know what the heck you're talking about. THIS is not the topic for GOONG 1 or 2, this is a thread for GOONG S. GOONG S and GOONG are two different dramas.
Please stop posting double posts. You know it´s spamming or don´t you?!! If you notice you need to add something to your post there is EDIT button! Please mind that!
Well Goong S is actually very serious drama. At first it was quite funny and I actually liked Kang Ho sprouting that "men are all about..." stuff. I found it funny. Well maybe there are some scenes when I think "pretty bad acting" but not much of those. And while watching dramas I don´t even notice the acting that much. It attracts me or not. In comparasion to other dramas Goong S doesn´t shine that much. Not sucking ppl on it´s side but I think it´s still good. I think script is ok and even interesting. At first drama gets better and better with every episode but in the middle I kinda felt like it lost something. But it´s nice to see how Kang Ho changes. Compared to beginning he changed a lot, he became such a cold person which I don´t like T_T I so wish he could just lead normal life and buy that cafe his mother owned.
About the maid. You know that´s life. There are a lot of maids in the real life, there are ppl who clean public bathrooms and stuff. You don´t respect them? You better, you know what an awful job they have...but without them we would be in trouble. And if the maid attends Royal Academy she can get higher status which means more money. Actually I think it could be cuite a honor to be Queen´s personal maid. You know meeting the queen, meeting princes. Well I actually have never cared about statuses (they are normal ppl inside after all) and hate cleaning so I would never become a maid. But she must get paid QUITE WELL!! Being maid in a palace. So many ppl would kill for palace maid Yang´s position. And I don´t agree that cleaning after someone is the same thing no matter who it is. So it´s the same for you if you serve your long life idol or some old stinky grandma? Well, good luck for ya. I mean if I served old lady maybe I would never tell about it to anyone but fi I served real prince I would like to brag about it.
And about painter and writer. They had pretty harsh misunderstanding in the past. Well I don´t quite remember what happened but it involved someone´s life. What if cuz of your good friend your lover dies. Wouldn´t that be quite a blow to you? And Kang Ho didn´t resolve it easily, it took him some time to understand the situatioin, actually he was lucky enough to understand it so fast. If you remember he got rejected every time he tried to meet the writer. In the drama it was not se7en but prince. You take that in consideration. And you know in life conflicts may really break ppl apart. You just stop contacting each other and then it will be very easy not to talk ever again. Or maybe suddenly someone helps you together agian. It happens, suddenly.
So what else you didn´t get in the drama?

Goong S
Well,
I just finished watching this drama....hmmm.....I am not quite sure what to say because I don't want to get my head bitten off by the fans but I was really unhappy with it. First, I was not disappointed that it was not the original Goong cast. I loved Goong but I feel they wrapped it up nicely so I am o.k with a new cast. Second, Se7en is a cutie and the rest of the cast was attractive so it was pleasing to look at. I did not however feel the acting was up to par. Se7en was a really bad actor IMHO and I realize he is just starting out. It may have alot to do with directorship but as much as I love him as a singer and wanted to love him as an actor, I just didn't. The storyline was stale, they did a bit of repeating what was done in Goong just this time with a male lead instead of a female. The teddy bear thing made me cringe because, again....it had already been done. The creativity was absent in this drama. The script felt immature and I didn't feel moved at any point of the drama. It made me sad because I REALLY wanted to like it and told myself I did to get through it but on reflection and comparison to other dramas it just was not good in my eyes.

I already finish this drama.Well..it is not what I expected..Yeah, it was not as good as the Goong previous one! Quite sad coz I like Se7en n Park Shin Hye...Just ok..Yeah the set not as good as the Goong coz when I see Goong I was speechless and Goong S set just plain..That what I think no need to critic me after this..
I enjoyed this drama actually. (I'm kind of surprised since I did not like the original Goong)
I felt the story was stronger, more concise, and had more of a purpose than the original Goong. I thought the whole competition for Hwang Taeja was great...especially the martial arts part - this definitely kept the story moving. I liked the chemistry between Lee Hoo and Soon Yi, I thought they were more funny and entertaining than the two main leads in Goong. Conversations between the elder royals was also less tiring than in Goong, but I still can't stand the slow way of talking amongst royals, it can put one to sleep.
I'm disappointed with how they didn't describe clearly the reason Lee Hoo's mom left the palace, something to do with financial matters which didn't seem that scandalous to me. Also I did not like that Professor from Helvetia. I thought it was weird how he can listen to Korean and only speak English...I can't believe how two people can fully understand each other and fall in love in such a way. The Professor also had the worst acting skills in this drama.
The sets weren't probably as extensive as in the original Goong, but I felt they still kept the rich and colourful environment, and it didn't look low budget to me. Pye-ha's gowns were the most elaborate of all...all I can say is wow. They also used the same teddy bear museum and did the whole recreating scenes with teddy bears in the end...it was cute, but as someone else mentioned, it was done in the original Goong....so I can see why there's a lawsuit between the two shows. They also used the same style of music as the original, so again, more reason for a lawsuit. Considering how Goong was supposed to be different from Goong S, there were still many similarities between the two.
I give this drama 7.5/10

yup i just want to say that i truly enjoyed this drama (even though i did skip around cause i'm sort of having exams, i'm gonna rewatch everything again after my exams though) I do agree that the acting was not perfect, but it was sufficient, and it improved tremendously throughout the show. most of all, the chemistry between hlj and se7en was GOOD!
episode 16 is my absolute favourite. throughout the whole drama, there were soooo many cute scenes albeit the fact that some were quite subtle. i find it really sweet that the bear soonyi loves so much, which was a gift during the manito childhood mystery exchange game, was given to her by hoo. it's so sweet that they both liked each other since young but didn't know that their feelings were mutual. and all the little things they did for each other throughout the show.. and all the emotions se7en portrayed towards the end....
i was never a fan of se7en, but now i'm a total convert. he's just so cool in the show, especially after he matured. before that he wasn't that impressive but he was cute. soonyi draws me in, for reasons i cannot fathom. i do hope to see them act together again, hopefully their acting would have improved more by then.
the script was good. it had substance. there are many more things in life than just love, i do find that some korean dramas focused so much on the love plot that it deviated a little too far from reality. our lifes are hectic, is the only thing we do, love? i get the feeling that the characters in some dramas don't have to work at all (even though most of the time they have jobs), all they do is love... -__- this flaw is absent in this drama, i see their aspirations and their hard work both in love and other aspects of their life. this may be the reason why it appealed to me. i didn't like goong but i really liked this one.
i'm rooting for a goong s2 too!

Honestly, I couldn't go past the first episode, the main lead look way too stupid for me (and yes I like se7en's songs).
I felt they were going for the stupid/nice guy, and I simply don't like that kind, but anyway, it's just my opinion.
It's too bad coz I actually liked Goog and was eager to see this one...

unfortunately, you can't watch Goong online anymore because it is licensed. If you don't want to fork out the money to buy it (which, can't say I blame you even though I have rewatched mine many times.. you can rent it from blockbuster online and probably also netflix.
i love both Goong and Goong S and you can get Goong online via torrent, but PM me for the link...
i love Goong and Goong S, i love them both equally, i loved both leads more than their supporting actors and actresses, i did not like the girl that Se7en liked, she seemed too stiff for me, and i didnt like that one guy that was with Eun Chae, not Yul, i actually liked Yul and i actually liked that other prince in Goong S too, i just didnt like any of the girls in both dramas except for Eun Chae, i think that the actress that was in Goong S, the supporting actress, i think she was one of the most experienced and best actresses, consider her age please the girl is like 17 years old, everything was very natural for her, and i loved how she cried, it was all too natural, it was perfect...
guys dont pick sides all dramas are good in their own right...

Yeah, once Moon Geun Young completes her transition toward proper adult actress (she was rumoured to be in Timeless 2008 . . . which is summing up to be the Autumn Tale or MiSa of the new Korean generation), Park Shin Hye is pretty much the youth/teen actress star of choice. I thought she was pretty good in Goong S, especially since she's always played the good girl before.i think she was one of the most experienced and best actresses, consider her age please the girl is like 17 years old, everything was very natural for her, and i loved how she cried, it was all too natural, it was perfect...
I have a weakness for historical/sangeuk dramas. The Goong concept is just so cool that you can keep making shows like this and I don't think I'll ever get really bored about it.
Goong was this glorious intersection between the knife-in-hanbock pageantry of sangeuk, and K-pop/netizen celebrity magnified into "Di and Charles" obsession. That can't be repeated twice. Not even a proper Goong sequel can go back there again.
On paper, Goong S wants to tell a story about living your adolescence and coming of age in an environment fundamentally incompatible with the modern world. Which is, how we all kinda see family, school, and the world anyway in our teens. Goong is a teenager's fantasy; in Goong S, everybody is miserable to be "here." The romance doesn't really work because it's difficult falling in love with people who glour and pout for love.
But, sangeuk being sangeuk, you still have the pageantry, the rituals, really the sense that there are really good reasons to follow their vapid, priviledged entrapment. And that the role of Prince character can be a great way to grow up. You have to buy into Se7en's character becoming a better person for this story.
Personally, I think they should have made Goong S into the Korean version of Cruel Intentions. Make Park Shin Hye into a ruthless Sarah Michelle Gellar, and have Se7en play Ryan Phillipe's bon vivant. Then let the cruel games begin.
personally, i prefer goong than goong s. goong s is a bit weird or am i the weird one here?
maybe some actors doesnt suit the role. just like se7en. he is such a cutie!
anyway, in goong s kang hoo is like a serious type of guy and se7en is a bit boyish. ahh, heck care laa~ as long as i can see se7en acting.
goong s is not much of a comedy though unlike goong but overall it is a sucess.

I like Goong more than Goong S.
First of all, having both male and female leads acting cute and stupid destroys the chemistry between them. There is no drama in that... And i personally think that se7en wasnt cute at all... it felt kinda stupid ...
Although there are somethings better done in Goong S, like making the dialogues between the royals less boring and made things move a bit faster, there was this impression the original Goong left in me after ending ....that's what makes a drama great ... not only enjoying the show while watching it but still feeling it after it ends.
What's even worse is the idea of using a similar name for this show to trick people to watch it. There were soo many similarities... it almost looked as they just wanted to re film Goong with different actors -.- A commoner entering the palace, few royals liking him/her but the rest of the royals not, fighting for the tittle of king, etc... even the bears at the end ! -.- I cant forgive them that !
Now they totally killed the possibility of a real Goong 2 that, i think, most of us was expecting.
I'll give Goong S a 3/5

If it pains you so much, why did you bother spending 20 hours of your high and mighty life watching the show? Nothing better to do? I feel quite sorry for ppl who live their lives in such agony.TrevorGod wrote:I'm quite serious. This drama was painful to watch. But you know almost in every kdrama I´ve seen girls always scream when they see topless man. Or if not scream still be bothered about it. And I never liked that teddybear thing not in Goong, not in Goon S not in any sequel that may or may not come.
Edit: since I am a 30 year old male I realize that I am far from the target audience; however, I have watched and enjoyed plenty of other teen romantic comedies.
