So far, up to ep 7, it has been ok. The linkages between all the characters (in all senses) are, as usual, less than likely. But it's good to see characters interacting with strange furriners, and speaking occaisionally intelligible English. and OMG, guns! Well, mostly in the future it seems.
Similarities so far with All In
- guns (well, not yet really, but, given ep1, coming soon)
- fighting
- gangsters
- poor guy takes the blame for a crime while his rich friend feels guilty
- land deals on Jeju, specifically for enormous casinos/convention centres/entertainment complexes. Seriously, I know that the only place in Korea that you can have casinos is Jeju, but the place must be overrun with gangsters buying up all the land and fighting.
- overseas locations
- vast numbers of gratuitous shots of Las Vegas (can't remember about original though) - the Nevada tourist commission must love it!
- casinos, casinos, more, bigger casinos, and the characters want to build even more ridiculously massive ones for good measure - obsession with "biggest casino in the world"
- rich guy and poor guy competing over the same girl. Rich guy uses dubious tactics and is a bit of a stalker.
- ingrish
Interesting to see where it goes from here.
Predictions
- Jung Wu is a mad good gambler, despite not really liking it
- Jung Wu will spend lots of time in casinos and become an expert about everything to do with them
- Jung Wu will become the most deadly person in the world, and his buddies will become hardened expert killers, and they will need those skills to survive later
- Jung Wu and his dad end up in a big fight over land, but near the end all is revealed and, after a bit of time sorting their feelings most things will be well. Or will lots of people die?
Will Jeju turn into one massive casino?
