Sometimes she looks pretty cute, sometimes she looks average (not that special), sometimes she looks like Cecilia Cheung -- but she's young. ... heard she can't act very well; maybe with more experience, she'll become a better actress.

you really should. The story is VERY well done. The period sets and production quality was quite high. the atmosphere was just perfect. I didn't like the last few episodes because I don't like depressing things ...
it was definitely one of the VERY few series that I sat thru 2x

I'd say 16-18 (in the beginning, the story spans a few years). She' should younger than Yan Xi, who is supposed to be 18. Altho, I don't think I ever saw her in school. but in those days schooling worked differently and she might have had tutors ...

I find LYF pretty but not exceedingly beautiful. Her round face and cute chubby cheeks make her look too girly and young to be considered drop dead gorgeous. But she does have that lovely Asian beauty to her, especially in her almond-shaped eyes.
I think that in some angles, she kinda looks like Huang Sheng Yi (the mute girl in KUNGFU HUSTLE) since they both possess the long dark hair, almond-shaped eyes and demure, gentle beauty. This is just my humble opinion.

Don't really know who she is before watching ROCH 06'
Since ROCH was my favorite novel and I love the character she is acting in.
After watching it, I was surprise!!!
I love the way they develop her characters in this version,
because in all of the old versions (eg. ROCH 83 and 95),
they focus on the cold side of 小龙女.
but from what I read in the novel,
小龙女 is just a teen who don't know and don't care
about the world, she is cold but an innocence way,
she smile and cry like any normal people
when she is facing someone she love (the only one she love).
I think this new one is pretty successful,
at least close to the 小龙女 in my mind.
The scenery are unbelievble,
make me want to visit China.
Some of the fighting scenes are great and interesting,
although some people said that there are too much gc,
but I can accept it,
since ROCH have be remake like 6 times eversince the first version,
therefore must add something new, right!
and the main meat of ROCH is LOVE, so
fighting scene is just an extra spice!
o yea, one more thing,
I don't know why everyone keep sayng that
Crystal's 小龙女 is too young for the role,
but to those that read the novel (like me),
小龙女 is suppose to look like 16-17 years old,
even when she is over 20 and look like 20 years old at age of 40.
And here are some pictures of new ROCH 06,
highly recommanded
(at least for the first half I watched, hope the second half wouldn't disappoint me)

She was suited for the role. Not to mention that she was also fully backed by Jin Yong/Louis Cha (the original writer of the story) as well, can't argue with that...
