We only know because there was an article in late Jan saying that it will be published by Feb 6. So we assume that was the case. However, since there has been a "blackout" in terms of current news when the date has come and gone, i'm beginning to have my doubts ...sunnyvn wrote:How do u know it's out in China if there's no news about it?

A bit off topic, but yeah, that's to be expected. Tsui Hark is the best FX producer/FX director out of HK, but he is not a good story teller for linear narratives. So, he'll leave all the action scenes in and cut out all narrative to get it in under 90 min.athrunjustice wrote:SS movie was a total disaster imo, wtih no story line

I knew it, when Feb 6 came and gone, I knew nothing got to the stores because all the boards would be abuzz. This is, after all, the most anticipated series of 2005/6crazylife123 wrote:yeah it was...they're still doing some touch up with the CGs for this series. i believe feb 20th something...or even march...too much delays!!!

crazylife123, thank you for the providing the MVs.
As to what others were saying about the hype, I agree completely. We have been waiting forever for this drama to come out. It carries all our expectations and such. But, if it doesn't live up to the hype, it'll be a super disappointment.
After I saw LYF in Chinese Paladin, I've been looking forward to the airing of ROCH. She is perfect for the ethereal role of SLN. As for YG... I thought they should have gotten a different person to play the younger him because the male lead just doesn't look convincingly as a teenage.

After watching the recent release of the supposed Intro of this series, there does seem to be a lot of promise, though the intro itself isn't all that beautifully assembled as I'd still pick the LotCH 2003 intro over this. it does show a few new scenes and it appears to be more "epic" in comparison to other things coming out recently.
With the producer and crew already working on their next project, also a Jin Yong adaptation, focus has shifted there. RotCH news has been less and less as of recent, and it appears they didn't meet their broadcasting deadline stated when they were looking for a female XLN singing voice back in Jan. As of yet, there is no release of the VCD/DVDs and there still hasn't been anything broadcasted. Word is that stations aren't accepting the final edit of the series because of such a poorly done editing job, with visible wires still in the picture, among other reasons.
So we'll have to wait and see. By the way, the series is 41 eps, at least the TV version is. This is pretty much confirmed, as the Intro ends there is a 41 Ep stamp right at the end next to the title. If anyone is interested in the Intro, I'll try to dig the link up.

I hope that isn't true cause that's going to be such a disappointment. ROCH '06 is such a "grand" production, they've gotta to a really good job on editing.dan99 wrote:Word is that stations aren't accepting the final edit of the series because of such a poorly done editing job, with visible wires still in the picture, among other reasons.

How recent is this? I recall that the stations rejected the final edit back in Nov/Dec. 2005, as this was supposed to be b'cast in end of 2005. But because of this it was pushed to 2006. So, hopefully, it's not another editing issue~shinigami~ wrote:I hope that isn't true cause that's going to be such a disappointment. I'm hoping and praying that this is just the first of many, many steps in the right direction = providing us Mandarin/Cantonese challenged folk with QUALITY English subbed CDramas!! I really want to buy this, but I'm just a bit apprehensive about the subs' quality, considering my past experience with these releases. This'll be a great springboard for when ROCH 2006 finally comes out... can't wait for the 'new blood'!! Liu Yi Fei...

I dont agree with the comment that this release is most likely to be dissapointing because it is too highly anticipated.
1. The story will be likely the same as in previous versions. (people already know what to expect!)
2. Modern CGs to improve visual experience.
3. Asian film-associates have increased their knowledge/skills significantly the past 3-4 years.
4 Biggest budget ever for this remake
5 Liu Yi Fei
Im pretty convinced that she is a major positive factor, not sure about her skills as an actress though.
So if you enjoyed previous remakes, then you certainly will enjoy this one aswell.

liu yi fei will do a good job in this series...the 2nd half of the series she was really good...the director wanted her to do the first half of the series again...LoL...i guess she improve later on.
some people complain about huang xiao ming...probably because they expected him to be a great actor.
i'm just hoping the two leads have good chemistry with each other.

That was most likely misinformation. What I heard was that apparently some fans spotted some wires and the side of a swimming pool where an underwater scene was filmed at in some pre-CG’ed sneak peek shots and whined prematurely.~shinigami~ wrote:That's a relief, now I'm all hyped up to watch ROCH again.crazylife123 wrote:ZJZ is really strict on those little things...LOCH editing was really good...no wires at all.~shinigami~ wrote:

The show is finishing up its final stages of editing as we speak and is scheduled to be released to its DVD/VCD distributor no later than the 21st of February. I really can’t wait for this one.
An aside, I object to calling this or any other incarnation of the ROTCH TV series a remake. They are all original dramatized interpretations of a novel; no one is a remake of another.

official TVB products are always expensive. I think that the VCD to the series was something ~100$ a few years ago.meowwwwwww wrote:@ the second link. So finally on DVD huh? And English subbed to boot. The price is a little steep, but..ballistic88 wrote:Has anyone noticed this?:

New clip of before and after CGI. This series use the most and best CGI work so far for any chinese series.

The ladies of Duke of Mount Deer 2008....well...wishful thinking...most likely...these ladies will never ever work together again in the same series. Why? Well, they probably want the lead role.

You're right. TVB has always had rediculous prices. I can understand a Japanese series being expensive more since just about everything in Japan costs an arm and a leg, but an old series from HK? And not one of high production value at that. I really don't see how some asian shows like it should cost more than any given number of American shows on dvd.auroragb wrote:official TVB products are always expensive. this is starting to get really old/annoying. it better be worth wating for!! and i REALLY hope they meant eng subbed. i dont think the dubbed it eng cause that would just be totally retarded. it would basicly mess up the whole series. just like what they did to anime.eighteen wrote:The release date is delayed again !

and just to let this all out
This series in one bad new after another. It was suppose to be out on Jan. 29, than early Feb, than late Feb., and now March. If they can't make it on time, stop giving promise date. I highly doubt the final product will have English sub or dub. No chinese series before it had. I just really dissappointed with this series so far and it only had 41 esp. to LOCH 42 and I thought LOCH wasn't detail enough. I don't know how much more dissappointment I can take from one series that I have watch 50 other versions of. The only thing that make up for all waiting is English sub. I really wish they would have it, but I highly doubt it.
the broadcast time is finally sure:
17th,March 2006 on Zhe Jiang TV Station-4 channal.
