Be prepared for fairly serious heat and humidity.

The public transport system is excellent, especially the MTR. All sign in English too. Get an octopus card so you don't need to worry about tickets and such.

Victoria Peak (The Peak) is an obvious spot, but during the day it can be a real let down when you can't see 50 metres. At night (if you can see that far) the lights are nice.

Wet markets are also an interesting place to visit, though not for vegos or those with weak stomachs.

Discovery Bay on Lantau Island is like a different country, a good place to go if you are sick of the crowds and concrete jungle - a short ferry ride away. There are also large pockets of wilderness in parts of HK - scary but true.

The History Museum isn't bad either.

But the main recreational activity in Hongkers is, of course shopping, shopping, and eating. I can't help you with shopping at all. If you aren't, err, small, you may have difficulty buying clothes off the rack.

I stay with relos, so can't help you there, or with Korea.

Hmmm .. I'll be in HK for a couple of days, so, shopping / food goes well with me :p

I've got a week in Korea, will do Busan (Jinhae for cherry blossoms), Gyeongju (after watching Queen Seon Duk) and Seoul.

I wanna try the Korea's family sauna .. looks fun in those kdrama - eating a hardboiled egg. Where can I find this?

You need to go to Jeju where every casino and resort is owned by feuding mobsters. They also filmed several series there, All In and Swallow the Sun come to mind.

for hong kong. i dont know how much time u have there, but here are some suggestions

1. if you are looking for electronics and souvenirs, go to Ap Liu Street in the Sham shui po district in Kowloon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apliu_Street

2. if you are looking for cheap souvenirs and just bunch of little things like anime figurines or cell phone accessories..etc, go to Ladies Market in Mongkok district in Kowloon. http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/As ... -BR-1.html

3. if you are looking for name brand clothing or accessories, honestly those malls are everywhere. but i prefer time's Square in Causeway Bay in hong Kong island. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Times_Square_(Hong_Kong)

so your best bet for a one day shopping day would be in Mongkok, it has lots of shops, malls, street vendors, restaurants, anything u can think of. and it's within walking distance.

your best transportation will be the subway, we call it MTR. very easy, i wouldnt try the bus if u dont know your way around. taxi isnt bad, but it depends on where u stay, it can get expensive.

as for the food. if u are a sushi lover, do eat some in hong kong. there are lots of sushi places in mongkok as well, make sure u go to a place with people waiting outside. if you will be in the causeway bay area, there are a few sushi places close to Sogo mall and World Trade Center. lots of choices there.

if u dont want sushi, and you want some traditional hong kong food. try "rickshaw noodles" um.... it's a noodle in soup dish that u add anything u want, like deep fried fish balls, chicken wings,... http://www.openrice.com/english/restaur ... es_id=1004

or you can eat dim sum there, it's the BEST. use that website to search for restaurants, it has all the restaurants u want to search for. :)

if u must go sight seeing, i will recommend The Peak, preferably at night, the view is amazing! http://www.thepeak.com.hk/en/home.asp

i hope that helps :)

oh and btw. there are numerous street vendors selling snacks. u should really get some.

plus, i really love love love yogurt ice cream, look for apollo ice cream. they mix fruits with the yogurt ice cream... oh my god..it's the best thing ever. i know there is one in causeway bay, in a mall next to sogo.

i think it's on the 2/3 floor, in a corner.. oh my god... must try must try

this is the pic of the mall, dont remember the name

That's the famous cross road at Causeway Bay! All the trams will stop by there and it's easy to find.
Will go and look for that wonderful yogurt ice cream.

I loved sushi with lots of wasabi. I'll look out for the tell tale sign of a queue - a true indicator that the place is worth eating at.

Ladies market seems too touristy. Are there any other shops, maybe in Causeway Bay that sells anime figurines and toys?

yes that's the place where all of us cool people go! AHAHAHA

if u are looking for sushi in causeway bay, there are a few by the world trade center. i know they are good :thumright:

well the ladies market has lots of stuff even for the locals, not just for tourists, but if u are in the CWB area, um...there are tons of shops around, go to fashion island, heck, just walk around that sogo area, go to all those malls. in that half a mile area, there are like 4-5 malls around, u can probably find some there. but i know a mall in Wanchai (close to CWB) that has lots of anime, comics...etc Oriental 188, 188 wan chai road, wanchai, hong kong. you can get there by tram from CWB

Hi there,

Definitely go to Nami Island, it's so beautiful. You can get there from Cheongyongi station in Seoul and it takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to a town called Gapyeong. Then, take a taxi (maybe 5 minutes, tell the driver you want to go to Namisom) to the pier and the ferry will take you to the island in about 5 minutes.

Nami Island is famous because of the drama Winter Sonata, but it's so pretty it's worth the trip even if you didn't see the drama or didn't like it!

The Hamilton Hotel in Itaewon has its own sauna.

The Korean Folk Village in Suwon is also worth a trip and the tea gardens (featured in the drama "Summer Scent") in Boseong are also great.

Definitely go to the top of N Seoul Tower in Seoul for a nice view.

I will tell some other things when I think of them since there's a lot of interesting things to do in Korea.

Hope this helps!
Misa

Where in Hong Kong can I find local fashion stores? In the malls there are only the big worldwide labels, which I can find everywhere.
