Kdrama DVDs

Post by jhessy » Oct 12th, '07, 01:25

I don't know if this post is allowed here or not but just in case any of you are interested in buying Korean Dramas on DVD (not from Yesasia though), I've been ordering stuff from an acquaintance for a while and they're pretty cheap. A series consist of 16-20 episodes is just about $16 - $24, depends on how many DVDs there are in a serie. Some of the english subs are not that perfect though but the video quality and sound is great.
Let me know if you guys are interested. I'm from Southern Cali (L.A.) btw. :lol

Are they bootlegs? Those box sets seem less than cost (cost = what the seller buys it for before marking up and reselling to the customer.)

Sorry, but they sound a little fishy to me.
Are they legit? Sound too cheap to be.

By bootlegs, you mean just copies from original DVDs right? I don't know what you mean by bootlegs but they're in box sets. I've been getting them for a while and I've watched a few of them, they're good it's just that some english subtitles for some series are not that great. I say they're subbed by chinese or something. It's up to you guys I guess. I get some originals from YesAsia but they're really expensive so this kinda work for me. ^____^

They're Chinese (probably produced in Shenzen, I guess?) bootlegs. They take 700mb rips, slap them on DVD with fancy menus and pretty packaging, and add Chinese subs and English subs of the Babelfish-variety. And, oh, since they must hurry up and release it a day after the drama is over, the last episode might come from 190mb ASF files.

If you want original DVDs, you should try Hanbooks.com. They have quite a good selection and they even send outside US, unlike yesasia.

Sounds like bootlegs to me.... Especially, don't buy anything from Chinese versions as I got ripped off before..

You really get what you pay for. The higher the cost the better the packaging and better quality videos, meaning no junk. Expect to pay about $130 for 16 episodes. $150 for 24ep's.. I just paid $187 for a 24 episode K-drama DVD and I feel good about it. hehe

You have to get the Korea Version, and not any other versions. Stay the HELL AWAY from the Chinese Versions.... you will get ripped off and the PQ is complete garbage. :alcoholic:

I got ripped off once, by some Chinese online dealer. I paid nearly $100 for a drama "Hello God" and it arrived in TWO single layer DVDs. All 16 episodes were crammed in Two DVDs. The picture quality was worse than a 700mb rip!! LOL. I want these Chinese crooks to get hanged... This is why I stopped purchasing Chinese products. Do not get anything that is Chinese Versions people... You want to go safe route get the Korea Version, made in South Korea. The PQ is staggering and jaw dropping. The packaging is excellent too. If 3 episodes are fit in a dual layer DVD, then you are in good shape. :alcoholic:

It is true that when the Chinese take the drama and subbed it themselves aren't great, but there are times where you'd find great ones. It really depends on you and how much you're welling to pay.

I've recently bought HYD season 1 & 2 with a total of 25 episode and it cost me $37.50. The quality of the video is great and the packaging is too. And the subs are great. Guess i got lucky.
