How about movie version of dramas? Same story just shorter with different actors.

Sekai No Chushin De Ai Wo Sakebu, Ima, ai ni yukimasu, Densha otoko, Satorare, and Taiyo no uta. The two Umizaru movies are header and footer to drama series with the some of same actors.

Ok, here some other movies I liked that I can look up.

Shinobi, Yomigaeri, Tengoku No Honya-Koibi, Tokyo Zombie, Quill, Koi no Mon, "Josee, the Tiger and the Fish", Swing Girls, Distance, Tokyo Biyori, Kamikaze Girl, Drugstore Girl, Hana and Alice, Amemasu No Kawa, Coffee Jikou, the Taste of Tea, Hatsukoi, Miracle in Four Days, GeGe, and much much more.

Finally got around to watching Swing Girls the other day and it's great... Highly recommended. :)

Like the drama Nodame Cantabile, the music makes it stand out. :thumleft:

You might like "Linda, Linda, Linda". It is a little slow moving but that's kind of the point and it makes the climax that much more enjoyable.

Search for it as "Lady Snowblood". That's how I found both movies.

Tarantino took some scenes from it for Kill Bill and the actress, Kaji Meiko, is who sings the two enka songs used at the end of each Kill Bill.

FSC: http://www.fantasticsuperclub.org/forum ... opic=23850
FSS: http://fst.omnilounge.co.uk/forums.php? ... icid=16418

Both needs registration, and registration is limited to certain time at certain days (I think it's random).

Quickest way of getting the movie is off isohunt.

i'm curious about 'Seven Samurai'. Is it about 8 ball of Satomi famitly?

i watched seven samurai (not sure the name) but actress was 'Hiroko Yakushimaru' very very old one.
Then this year i watched 'Satomi Hakkenden'.

Main story is quite similar but details are totally different.

Anyone can tell me about actual story in japan.......

i don't think anyone mentioned this jmovie one yet, Twilight Samurai
It's kind of hard to find but it's one of the best samurai movies i've never seen. It's a bit weak on the fight scenes and it doesn't even focus on that. However, the story is very subtle but very engaging.

Try Love Letter... it starts off slow but it's a nice sentimental movie. Then there's Tada Kimi wo Aishiteiru/Heavenly Forest. If you haven't seen these, I think they'll do the trick.

hello,
I had a quick view through several pages and I'm impressed. I was just wandering if it's against the rules to recommend any korean/chinese/taiwan movies?

The things I would recommend:
One missed call 1 and 2
Visitor Q
Ichi the killer
Izo
Zebraman
Battle Royale 1 (2nd part was ****)

twilight samurai was good, and just watched seven samurai, super good, i cant say enough about seven samurai, i thought the omega man was good, oh no, this epic 3.5 hr drama was soo gritty and real, if you have a chance to see it -do it. it was made in 1954 and totally ahead of its time, sure some of the deaths arnt believeable, but that dosent matter, i pay kowtow to my local library. fini

Does anyone know of any good japanese movies, kind of like Tokyo Tower? (Matsumoto Jun.) or Nobodys Home? I've been looking for more movies of that dark kind of intriguing theme.

I recently watched Swing Girls and loved it.

I'm craving something else like it. Could you suggest something for me?

Thanks.

Has anyone watched 夜のピクニック/ Yoru no Pikunikku/ Night time picnic ?

I would recomand it.. just watched it on the inflight entertainment yesterday and left a pretty a good impression on me...

"THE NIGHT TIME PICNIC" (http://twitchfilm.net/archives/007168.html)
Won the 2nd "Bookstore grand-prix" prizes. Based on the best selling novel by Riku ONDA
It's a traditional school event of high school, which 1000 students intensively walk 80 km within 24 hours.

Directed by: Masahiko NAGASAWA (koko-ni iru-koto'01/ Way of Blue Sky'05)
Screenplay: Keiko MISAWA & Masahiko NAGASAWA
Original Story: Riku ONDA(Shinchosha)

http://imdb.com/title/tt0498605/

what is so special about this annual walk-a-thon is that friendships and secrets are reaveled as they walk along...

I just saw Tegami (2006) starring Yamada Takayuki, Sawajiri Erika, and Tamayama Tetsuji.
Absolutely incredible movie. The acting, story, everything was just perfect, and the ending was insanely touching. This movie gets a hard push from me.

I can also vouch for Yoru no Picnic (2006), a nice nostalgic movie especially if you've went to school in Japan before.

For some weird reason I'm really fond of "Kikujiro no Natsu" with Beat Takeshi.
It's just so weird, lovable and heartwarming. Typical japanese sense of humour...

It's about a former yakuza who takes care of a little boy, and their roadtrip around Japan to find the boys mother. And then of course, all sorts of strange things happen....

Thanks! :D

I know a lot of people disagree with some movies that I gave really low ratings, or too high, but there are some movies that are just too good to dislike

There's a YSI (direct download) rotation thread I maintain in JPM: http://www.jpopmusic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=69055
I basically upload 1 or 2 of my favorite movies/week. Also some permanent megaupload links uploaded by a friend.

I get most new movies from various trackers, but most of them are private and needs luck (they only allow new registrations after deleting inactive/abusive accounts) or donation/invitation to join. Only new movies are well-seeded too. Best way of getting older Japanese movies is by clubbox through searches in http://www.filedic.com

I liked watching Shissou -Dead Run-. I thought that was a good movie. A bit dark, but it was a movie I thought about afterwards, instead of forgetting it the next day.

I must agree with 8thsin. I just saw Tegami as well.. absolutely fantastic..

It made me misty-eyed.. which I hardly ever come close to when I watch movies. Plus, Kazumasa Oda's "Kotoba ni Dekinai" is in it which is an absolutely beautiful song.

And Yamada Takayuki is one of my favorite actors ^^.

Here's a link to a music video made for the movie if you want to hear the song and see a preview of the movie

^ Yeah, the ending = perfect. I'm really glad I finally watched it. I actually deleted it the first time because the earliest DVDrip (I think postx) I got was sooo bad. Then I forgot about it until I saw some positive reviews in Yahoo! Japan Movies.

Anyways... I just saw this preview in FSS, it looks SICK!!
