Wow, I just love Ouran so I'm gonna step in the conversation! ^^ Although I prefer the manga over the anime, most people are the opposite.
I'm just too curious about what's going to happen... hope something really goes on before the graduation time, huh!? \o/~

Well, I don't think I saw Kyoya having romantic feelings about Haruhi at all... maybe I'm a bit slow, but I always thought he had only friendship feelings towards her. I understood that the ones potencially in love with Haruhi are Tamaki and Hikaru, and that's why Honey senpai was worried about Kaoru and Kyoya. Kaoru, 'cause of his relationship with Hikaru, and Kyoya, talking about his connection with Tamaki *not implied anything romantic, just that it may be hard on them both*.

Particulary talking about the anime, I though it was so good that scene when both Tamaki and Kyoya's parents were thinking about marrying Haruhi to their children... hauhauaha, if it where me, I'd chose Kyoya for sure xD

ahhhh i really need to read the manga soon! hehehehe. ive only watched the anime (it was the FIRST anime i watched lol!) and yup i hope smth else happens! its good though (:

It's been licensed in the US & can be bought wherever manga is sold. (I prefer Borders/Waldenbooks although Barnes & Nobles has a larger selection, too.)

It was also scanlated for a while before it got licensed. I have everything that was scanned as well as everything that's been officially released. Considering how quickly the manga got licensed, I expect the anime to be licensed fairly quickly as well.

As for Oguri Shun..i don't think he would fit Tamaki so well because he's not as enthusiastic and hyper and i'm not sure if his type of enthusiasm would be able to properly mimic Tamaki's personality. But, Tamaki is actually taller than Kyouya at about 6 feet or so, so in that respect Shun isn't too tall. ^^

hmmmn... i've seen shunshun in more enthusiastic roles, and if in that department alone, i think he could pull off tamaki. but when it comes to his looks and stuff, i don't think so. i'd say there are other actors who could do a better tamaki than shunshun. maybe akanishi jin, since i've seen him do cosplays and stuff in shokura, and he pretty much can be a host. but koike as honey-senpai sounds good.
oh, and i heard that the twins are gonna be FLAME. just uwasa though, so nothing official.

i think its a good cast, but maki's already played a role like that (hanazakari kimi no tachie) but she did suit it quite well (:

And I don't think Shun is that type of person to do a Tamaki role. I mean, lol, he was so wacky in Stand UP!! but I dunno how I'd see him as Tamaki if he were to ever get the role of the drama, if there ever is one.

i hope there's really a live drama for this show.. there's so much potential!! hehes..

but about the cast i have no comments.. dunno that many japanese actors/actresses anyways.. but i hope it'd be good..

the cast for ouran should be the best cast or I don't wish to see it being adapted to LA at all
I reckon Horikita Maki fits Haruhi's profile the most. Tamaki is rather a difficult one. I don't have a wide list of in my head to choose from but I don't think Pi is really for the role, Tamaki needs someone more flamboyant and lighter? well I'd probably go for Jin.
Koike Teppei as Honey would be good, Ryo Kyoya is just sexy. That left Mori and the twins I haven't got the slightest clue. I suppose it wouldnt be so hard to find someone fitting for Mori but it's difficult to find a pair of ikemen looking identical who can act,,, no?

I agree, Shun would be a stretch for Tamaki. I think Toma would be a better Tamaki, he already has the flamboyance plus the agility to do that squatting-in-the-corner thing that Tamaki does often. Toma also has that getting-ahead-with-himself look on his face down to pat when he deludes himself that Hanakimi's Mizuki (Maki) loves him. That expression is a Tamaki staple when he deludes himself that he is king of the hosts.

This has been on my mind the last couple days (all of a sudden, there was a turf war between Ouran and Eitoku[HYD] in my head. Seriously, wtf.), so I'll put in my two cents as well...

Tamaki: Miura Haruma (second choice, Wentz Eiji) Kyouya: Mizushima Hiro Twins: toss-up, or new talent Honey:

I'm going to agree, sort of, and say Ueto Aya. Although, I think Haru would be an interesting Haruhi. Yeeeep. Fun times.

I'm sorry but I was totally bored by that manga, I actually stopped reading. (a first)

I actually kind of liked Thousand Year of Snow the mangaka stopped it for Ouran High School Host Club. I'm not saying that's the reason I didn't like it, but I read OHSHC and it just felt different.(felt like wallflower)

I would love for Tomapi...because Ouran is one of my favorite mangas and I love Toma and I love Pi, so.... But I don't think Yamapi would be a better Tamaki from the two. Toma's more insane. Nakatsu beats Akira hands down, but then I don't want Toma as Tamaki. :/ I think they should be in one of the other clubs. The one with the oranges? aaahhhh, that's a small part, but I think they'd fit them better. bad fangirl! bad!

in my wildest fantasies, Toma and Hiroki Tamaki should be the twins. CHIAKI-SAMA! lol

I completely agree (as does my roommate) that Becky would make an excellent Renge. =D

You are right. I just finished reading Volume 8 & at the end Honey says to Mori that Tamaki & Hikaru like Haruhi but that neither of them realizes it. He then says that out of Kyoya & Kaoru, one of them also likes her & Honey wondered when he would realize it. So now there is a chance Kaoru like Haruhi, too. But my money is on Kyoya.

For Haruhi, I'm thinking Kashii Yu. She maybe a bit taller than Inoue or Maki but she's got that silent type going in the 2 jdramas I've seen her in -- Yukan Club and Detective Conan 2. I was looking at Minami but she's too outgoing and has a friendly face.

I'll have to watch her dramas to further judge. But what I saw on Google, she totally has that "Uhhh, why do I associate myself with these people again?" look.

Haruhi = Inoue Mao, she's good at tomboy roles and she looks more boyish than maki so it can work
Tamaki = Toma, I feel like Tamaki is soooo Toma, he did great as Nakatsu and Takemoto on honey and clover so he can pull off a great Tamaki
Kyoya = Sakurai Sho, although he's not so serious but he's got the serious looks , I don't know I feel like the role suits him

Mori= didn't come up with someone but Oguri Shun might be good at it
Honey= The kid who played Hajime in Kuitan, he's so talented

Haruhi's dad definitely should be Tanihara Shosuke, he's great at comedy roles !!

Yeah she's really good doing that expression, but the Tamaki she would be playing against should be really tall because she is tallish unlike Inoue or Maki.

Someone said Oguri Shun for Tamaki because of his performance on Stand Up! I'm watching that right now -- I agree that Shun is wacky here and I can see Tamaki-ish behavior going on but he's not outrageous enough. As Mori? Shun's Sano Izumi is silent and strong enough but it's more like the "lone wolf" type not the baby-sitter kind. Maybe Nagase Tomoya has the face and the height for it. I haven't seen him act though so I don't know if he could pull off Mori.

I still think Shirota Yuu is yummy.

LOL At first I laughed, but when I tried to imagine him as Tamaki, I actually managed to! @_@ The idea is laughable, but he WOULD fit the role almost perfectly, with his acting skills, movements, behaviour and hyperness; he's totally got my vote

And Inoue Mao is the last actress I'd want to see as Haruhi... -__-;;;;

Haruhi- Inoue Mao or Horikita Maki
Mao- because she has the whole tomboyish thingy going
Maki- well, she dressed up in hanakimi as a boy, so it should be a piece of cake for her...^_^

Tamaki- Ikuta Toma- because he had the chemistry with Maki in hanakimi, so that could totally work...

There's some posts here about who should play the twins Hikaru and Kaoru -- but always two different actors. Wouldn't it be truer to the manga if the twins are played by one actor portraying twins?

I say truer since in the entire series there were only three people who could tell them apart without artificial help -- a nanny (who turned out to be a con-artist/thief), Tamaki (after much grief from the twins) and Haruhi.

With this in mind, I'm considering throwing in Morisaki Win's name for the twins. He played Tomou in Gakko ja Oshierarenai. He's got that playful, mischievous flair about him that could translate very well to Hikaru/Kaoru.

I was looking at Tamaki and Haruhi fanart on deviantart and someone posted a picture of a blond model and titled the picture Tamaki Souh, and then I realized...Eiji Wentz?! Tamaki's half French half Japanese. Wentz is half German half Japanese, so he looks more like Tamaki than a full blooded Japanese actor, and he'd be a more believable blond. And he was pretty wacko in the Nodame Cantabile SP.

Opinions?!?!?!

Okay, here's my little list:
Tamaki: Taguchi Junnosuke (Yukan Club, Hanayome to papa) He has the 'look at me, I'm beautiful yet cool'-image hands down. Loved his role as Bido Granmarie, which is very Tamaki-like. Not to mention the fact that he's tall.
Haruhi: Eikura Nana (Mei-chan no Shitsuji) I'm currently watching her act in Mei-chan no Shitsuji, and I like her. She has a typical tomboy face, and in the drama, her hair has grown a bit, and it really looks like Haruhi.
Kyouya: Ishiguro Hideo (Gokusen 3, RESCUE) He's tall, yet a slightly shorter then my chosen Tamaki is, and he has the short spikey hair for it. I know his past roles weren't evil ones, but give him some glasses, and see how he acts. I just think he would do a great job.
Hikaru&Kaoru: Takagi Shinpei&Manpei (Mei-chan no Shitsuji) They do need a haircut, but as far as I can see, they would do a great job. I laugh my ass off, because of these two when they are harassed by the older sister of Mei's best friend, and a second later, you see them both with emotionless faces (Just like Hikaru en Kaoru, have moodswings under control). Oh, and beside all that... I wouldn't mind them doing some slight twincest. (I'M NOT A FANGIRL I SWEAR)
Hunny-senpai: Arioka Daiki (Scrap teacher, Sensei wa Erai) Because he has an absolute baby-face, while he's becoming 18 already, and because I'd love to see him sitting on the back of the guy I choose for Mori. Besides that, he's only 1.63 high.
Mori-senpai: Oguri Shun (Hana Yori Dango, Hana Kimi) Tall, dark and handsome. Its both Takeshi and Shun in one. I know, Shun' getting old. But yet, I would love to see him and Daiki, just to show of with Daiki's grinning baby-face and his calm older one. Would make one heck of a pair don't you think?
Renge: Becky (Hontou ni Atta Kowai Hanashi) Simply because she has everything a Renge should have.

Oh, and why I didn't include Toma and Teppei? Because I think Teppei is getting to old to take part as Hunny. He still has a baby-face, but not the one I see as a Hunny-senpai. He just became to handsome and grown up I suppose. And Toma... I don't see him as any of the host club characters, I don't think he's extrovert enough to play Tamaki. Nor does he have the height (he's only 1.75), don't get me wrong, I simply adore Toma, but I think other actors would do a better job in this role.

Drama-issues aside. I loved the anime. And I'm loving the manga even more. It had everything I hoped for in the anime. And more. n_n If you haven't read it yet, I can assure you, you're missing something.

i wish the director will choose yoon eun hye(i know she's korean and i hope she can learn how to speak japanese..) as haruhi...because she can pull the character(boyish)very well...good example like coffee prince...she's better than ella and horikata maki who play boyish character in hanakimi...

i like taguchi junnosuke play as tamaki...because his excellecnt job play as Bidou Granmarie in Yukan club..he really like a swedish guy...but how about fujita rei(RH Plus, Princess Princess D) as tamaki...lol...he's really half french and half jap..quiet good looking and tall..

It's only a matter of time until this is made into a drama. Or maybe no one wants to because it's too similar to Hanakimi

just commenting about this, isn't she too tall for the role? and she still looks like a girl even with the boy cut. (not that i don't like her, she just doesn't seem to fit...)

I definitely agree on this. they would fit the role perfectly and yes... a hair cut. ^_^V just one question... are they really identical twins or was it just by some cosmic power that they really really look alike?

i cant imagine her as renge... im sorry. Renge is supposed to be the ganguro girl who's tan... Becky isn't just it. although, i would still love to see her in it.

I think Matsuda Shota it's a match cause he's 181cm and kyoya 181cm... ^^

yeah... I'm not sure too... but it's hard to find an actor who REALLY tall cause Mori is 192cm...

I think that Maki-chan would be a perfect Haruhi, actually, when I first saw her in Hana
Kimi, I thought she would fit Haruhi perfectly.
I'd love Tamaki to be YamaPPi , but that's just crazy fangirl's desires ToT... But, he would fit the crazinness and wacko part of Tama-chan. And when he had the blonde hair going, he was really cute. Ikuta Toma would be really nice as well. He can play fun roles as well.
I think OguShun would be a great Kyoya, but then, I seriously wouldn't know who Haruhi should end up with.
Honey would definitely be Teppei-chan in my oppinion. He's just as kawaii.
I'm not sure about Mori-sempai. But, I think I'd be content with anyone.
Hikaru and Kaoru are interesting characters as well. I'd love to see someone new in their roles. Something different. ^^

Anyway, Ouran was a great anime, it's charm would go to waste if the drama wouldn't be a really good one.

The only 'real life' character that I see most fitting is Mori = Hayami Mokomichi which coincidently some people have already mentioned!!

I watched this anime in 2006. Its very funny. I laughed a lot.

Haruhi is a sweet, but my favorite is Hikaru.

well, as far as i know, there isn't. why'd you ask? did you somehow hear a rumor there will be one? though i like the idea of a Ouran High School Host Club Live Action series, the anime and the manga are better. And i don't think they can recreate that story with real actors yet.

The manga's last chapter is suppose to be out next month, I believe on the 24th. I'm sad to see it end but I guess that's the way it goes. Maybe now a drama will be made which would definitely be on my "to watch" list.

I just read that Taiwan is going to make a drama out of "Skip Beat", another one of my favorites, but it will be called "Extravagant Challenge". Hi! Just wanted to give my two cents to this topic... though it appears to be dead...

Since there are actual rumors again about a Drama Version for the Summer Season and they mentioned Yamamoto Yusuke as one of the actors, it seems likely to become true afterall. But, the downside is, that the timeslot is midnight, which means that the production value will be very limited and the cast might be only newcomer with little to no experience.

there will Ouran Drama ?? O_o

I just saw the first 3 episodes of the live action subbed. It's so silly!!!

I was really surprised by this drama,I loved the manga and anime...And was a bit hesitant on the drama...Just seems kinda hard to do.

And even though it's silly, it's well done!

Granted, I think the hosts could have looked more glamorous (I love Tamaki's actor though, he was also great in Tumbling! but still...spruce him up little )
